This is going to sound crazy.. but if you're a) super dedicated are planning a trip to the US anyway and c) have the TIME (you'll have to wait until November) There are always CRAZY good towel sales on during Black Friday.. lol. We usually stock up on big bath towels for like $2 a towel, Walmart, JC Penney, Sears, everyone always has fab colored towels and bath sheets on sale, make good Christmas gifts and I saved a couple for myself one year and love them, still using them... I mean, great price.. but a lot of hassle... but Black Friday is a must-do for us every year.. it's the best shopping experience

I'm seriously thinking about mailing some of the stuff down (From Maine to Florida) to our hotel we'll be staying at before getting on the cruise sihp. I just need to make arrangements with the hotel if they'll hold my stuff for a couple of months. At least some of the heavier or bulkier stuff like aloe, notebooks, bubba kegs... If not there's going to be something going along in everyone's suitcase! lol

Best Man wants to drop out.. :(
DramaticAnnie replied to DramaticAnnie's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Unfortunately, there is no brother or cousin of his. My two brothers are standing for him as groomsmen, and so is my cousin who ended up bring a good friend of his, but I know he wanted his best man to be one of his childhood friends or someone he's been close to for a long time and it's not looking like that's going to work. I like that suggestion of having him sit down with him and explaining to him how much it would mean for him to be there. It's a little bit sad but he really doesn't have many close friends anymore. We are getting married on a cruise ship so it would be physically possibly for the best man to come to the ceremony and then leave the ship, but that still means him flying from Nova Scotia, Canada to Florida, staying overnight with us at the port, getting on the ship the next day for 3 hours and then leaving and flying back..? Kind of a bummer and a lot of money just for an overnight thing. Thanks for your help guys! -
Vistaprint OOT bags
DramaticAnnie replied to Evgal's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I would send an email to Vistaprint complaining about the stitching. They may fix it! I emailed them about something before and they refunded me within an hour of me sending the email -
In the last pm she sent me she asked if I was from Florida and I said nooo, I'm from Nova Scotia Canada and I think it scared her away.. lol For cruise weddings you don't do a lot of decorating yourself (well I guess you could but they can use their own stuff and I have so much frigging OOT stuff just bringing my cake topper and wedding gear will be more then enough luggage). I've been on cruises before where you see a bride getting ready to get married in one of the ports.. but my wedding will be before the ship leaves Florida, not in one of the scheduled ports, a) because Florida is easier to get married in and I didn't want to leave on a cruise and then spend the first couple of days worrying about the wedding details - this way it will be done on the first day and then we depart for a week of celebration Cool beans to share wedding dates we're less then 10 months out now eeek.. I really have to concentrate on getting $ to the travel agent again, I was hoping to be done paying well in advance of when we HAVE to be done paying but life has come up.. both of our vehicles needed car inspection this month and both needed some work done beforehand.. then the weekend before inspection when I thought I had everything taken care of a rock pinged my windshield and it turned into a big crack.. so had to shell out another $300 for a new windshield to pass inspection! Eeee.. and I was planning to go to the US in late August to go to David's Bridal to try on a dress I've been loving online..

That's awesome that you scored so much stuff... and I am planning a couple trips to the US before the wedding, so that's great. I still like to hear about the Canadian deals, anyone notice that Walmart here has the $2 tylenol in a little 10 pack (I think its 10 pack) but not advil? I got a couple of the tylenol's but personally I've been using advil over tylenol since I was a kid. Plus, advil will help relieve pain from a bad sunburn better then tylenol will. I got some of the Advil at like, a Lawtons or something, I think it was 2.29, but yeah you have to keep an eye on the expiry dates..

Bridesmaid gift
DramaticAnnie replied to LovesJakeyPoo's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I have necklaces for them made with turquoise colored swarvoski (sp??) crystals I got from ebay.. I got one for all of them plus my Mom and future mother in law, and me! I figure I will give these out at the bridal shower or sometime before the day I got flasks done for the wedding party from ebay - if you are considering personalized flasks PLEASE search ebay first, they do a great job and you will find similar flasks for like $25-40 on other wedding sites and in engraving stores.. and these were like 8 bucks, personalization included... Umm.. oh I got my girls custom made wristlets from etsy seller FrankieLloyd - they are embroidered on the inside with their initials, again I got one for myself and one for my mom and future mother in law.. lol I am also thinking of little clutches from etsy seller Vanijja, but I haven't ordered those yet... I got little Kate Spade flip flop manicure sets too.. and pashminas.. as we get closer to the date if I manage to pay off all of our wedding and trip stuff early, I would like to be able to help them with stuff like shoes and attire but I think everyones thinking they're going to pay for their dress, which I don't want them to spend a lot of money on and they can all be different as long as theyre the same color, so they can use them again -
Gifts for the parents?
DramaticAnnie replied to luvmoo's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I found really nice starfish necklaces on eBay, and I bought them for all my bridesmaids, my MOH, my mom and my future mother in law, and me! For my Dad and for his Mother, we are thinking of having little plaques with a photo (like me+dad on mine and him+his mom on his) with some lyrics from Because you Loved Me, which is the song we're going to do the father/daughter dance to and present them after that dance after saying thank you for being such a special part of our lives and bringing us up like this, etc... like a get your kleenex out sorta moment -
Hi Brides; So I'm discouraged and a little frustrated, I figure this is the best place to go. For our cruise wedding next year, we talked to everyone in our wedding party first to see if people actually had the financial means to go, because we couldn't cover anyone's trip really, we are going to help his Mom pay for hers but that's like his only family member going and she's on pension, etc. So, the best man was one of our "iffy" people and my FI really wanted him to be able to go. We outlined the price for them and they took the cheapest possible option, an inside cabin on the ship. Then the best man's fiancee wanted her sister to go along too, so there will be three of them sharing a room, which makes it even cheaper for them when they split the cost like that. They were pretty excited about going and got their deposit together before the deadline, etc. At first everyone was talking about how they were going to be putting money away for the trip and the best man and his fiancee were going to quit smoking and put that money they were going to save away, etc. Now he's got a day surgery coming up and is going to have to be off work for a number of weeks. We are familiar with the surgery because my fiancee had it done in January and was off for six weeks. Apparently his is more servere and he will have to be off for longer, so he's going to go on unemployment. Now, I know this sounds perfectly acceptable and you guys are probably thinking I'm a horrible person for thinking this, but this guy LOVES going on unemployment. For all the years we've known him he only works long enough to be able to have enough hours to go on unemployment. And he's told my FI that if he is on unemployment, they probably won't be able to afford going on the cruise. Then we see his fiancee's facebook updates about this new thing they are into and buying all of these supplies and ordering stuff online, we see them going out to eat and stuff like that then they tell us there's no way they have any extra money to be able to go... this is frustrating. He had always planned for these three guys to be standing for him in his wedding - Let's call them 1, 2 and 3. 1 is his best man, who is now basically saying he's dropping out after paying his deposit. 2 is a guy he was pretty close to but he moved away and never bothered getting in touch like he said he would.. plus his ex gf got it into her head that FI was saying stuff about her.. drama.. and 3 was this one who contacted me with a totally made up story about my FI bringing other women with him when he goes to visit, etc. and I just sent the msgs on to my FI who confronted him about it, and his retaliation was "you never visit me anymore" and he was all pissy about that - after him having moved way into the sticks and he knows my FI works almost everyday.. ugh. Basically, he's lost 2 friends in the last year or so that he THOUGHT were his friends.. and now this last guy who isn't 100% close with him but he wanted him to be his best man... is all wishy washy.. and I know he's really upset and he's basically saying well I don't have very many friends left, what am I going to do... I know this happens to almost everyone when they're planning a DW - there's already more bridesmaids then there are groomsmen, and now if the Best man drops out I'm not sure what it's going to do...

Dai69, I love your bags and the contents! I thought I read somewhere (maybe cruise critic?) that you weren't going to do favors or oot bags, but those are awesome!! I am less then 10 months away and I have almost all the stuff for our OOT bags done.. except the sunblocks, I want to make sure they don't expire.. but I got caught up in oot bag shopping, I have to concentrate on paying on the cruise/wedding now lol

Our AHR is going to be very casual.. but that being said if I have something left in the budget I may do something tropical-themed for everyone who couldn't make it. Thinking of using vistaprint to blow up a few of the best pictures on banners and stuff of the actual wedding, and probably have a projection screen playing the wedding video? Good times, good times.

I got my Kate Spade flip flop manicure sets from Hautelook during one of their events for like $2.50 a set I think.. comes in a case of 12, so I'll have enough for all my BM's and mom's and a couple of lucky random lady guests will get the remainders.. lol I also got to the Dollarama the other day to check out those first aid kits you guys have been talking about that are $1.25, and I was originally against the little first aid kits because I was thinking they were going to take up too much space and stuff, but I LOVE the size of them! They're like a little travel size version, about a 2.5"x2.5"in square. The downfall was they only had 5 at the location I checked out, the cashier said they are a really big seller so they do get them in regularly, but they sell quickly too. So I'll have to hunt at other Dollarama's for more. I think I'm nearing the end of my OOT bag journey, which will be a big relief to my wallet, lol. Maybe now I can start paying for the wedding??

Hi fellow April 2012 brides I am getting married on a Carnival Cruise ship before it leaves Port Canaveral, Florida on April 28th, 2012! And if you guys think having the same month in common is weird.. I got a pm the other week from a girl who was searching BDW and she saw my signature details, SHE'S getting married on the SAME ship on the SAME day I am.. I think they have like 2 weddings per sailing date, and here we both are, lol. It's a small world after all

Hi All; Unlike many of you, my actual wedding is going to be taking place in Florida. We're from Nova Scotia, Canada. And I have been troubled with the idea of all my OOT bag stuff and where I'm going to put it and how many family and friends' luggages I will have to practically take over to fit all the stuff into. I also really and truly want to have the guests get their bag delivered to their cabin on the cruise ship, I don't want to give it before we leave or at a welcome dinner or anything like that. So my mother suggested shipping a few boxes down to Florida (probably to the hotel we'll be staying at the night before we get on the cruise ship, making arrangements with them beforehand of course) well in advance of when we leave. Now I know most people don't ship their stuff to their weddings because it is in Mexico or Jamacia or somewhere like that and it might get stuck at the border or whatever, but I'm wondering has anyone ever shipped from Canada to the US? Would it be ridiculously expensive (I mean I'm willing to pay some but not hundreds of dollars) to get a couple of boxes of my stuff to the US. Do you think there would be a problem? Also, I'm planning a trip to the US in August and again in November, but to Maine, which is still quite a ways from Florida, but at least I could ship from within the US to the US if you guys think that will save me any? Or is that even legal? lol Plus the hotel would have to save it for months, i'd have to really trust the hotel I guess. And that's IF they'd even do it. Any feedback would be appreciated!

They look awesome! The bags themselves look good too. For mine, where there's two women bunking in a room they will be getting their own bag.. and I believe the only single guys coming (so far) are my brothers who are also groomsmen so I want to do something special for them anyway, so they'll probably get totally different bags (like a sling style backpack for my younger brother and a messenger bag style laptop bag for my older-younger brother)

Atlantis welcome bags
DramaticAnnie replied to skp1's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
REALLY nice!! I love your bags! Did I miss the template for your baggie-tops? Cause I love the idea of doing the baggies instead of throwing everything into the bag... I am doing vistaprint tshirts and pashmina's so I'll be putting those in tied with ribbon or something.. oh I can't wait for the guests to see the bags and their contents! -
What are your guys' thoughts on me ordering up a few extra of the $1.89 Avon 150ml Aloe and selling it on that BDW buy and sell page? I'd be happy to do it if you guys think there is a demand and I'd sell them for $1.89, plus shipping to whoever, but shipping would probably be expensive thanks to the weight...? Just thought it was a pretty good deal and willing to share

I got my Avon aloe with my Avon order that came in last week - its an amazing size for $1.89! And it's on sale again for this Campaign (C14) Thats going out on Sunday June 26 so grab it while you can! I ordered 15 of them.. and I think I'll order a few more this week - and yes, the SPF "Avon SUN" lip balm is on for 0.79 cents too! I had already bought some when Guardian Pharmacy was having a sale but I don't think I have enough.. I'm going to grab some of these too Thanks for the tips on the little first aid kits from Dollarama! So going to grab those next time I'm in
