Yeah I would list them as Best Men, why not? And to the poster above, I would totally include the honorary MOH. (My honorary MOH is my doggie who won't be able to attend, lol, but I put her on the wedding newsletter/facebook thingy I am doing up along with plenty of photos of her )

Huge to-do (once you get back)
DramaticAnnie replied to futuremrswalls's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I'm still debating on the name change myself.. if anything, it will be a hyphenated addition of his last name.. but still :/ My passport should still be good til after the wedding, so then I'll have to figure all this name changey stuff out.. and I'm a Canadian bride so will have to go through the whole process... -

Who paid for your dress
DramaticAnnie replied to Lindslou's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I am still in the planning stages but my mom is retiring this year after 35 years, and my brothers were asking what she's going to do with her retirement/pension stuff and she said one of the first things I want to be able to do is buy Annie's wedding dress.. I was like omg! I was totally planning to get it myself.. but this will be a very nice help. Mind you, I was never planning to spend more then like $1000-$1200 on the dress (and if I can find a nice one for like $500-$600 I'll go that route), and I'm not planning to go over that now. Now there has been a little bit of discussion because she likes me in a certain style of dress which is NICE but I really want to explore this other style... we'll see.. it's a 10 hour drive from our house to the nearest David's Bridal.. who have a dress on their site now that I have to try.. lol -
Bridal Shower Etiquette - Who to invite???
DramaticAnnie replied to sarcrook's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I agree with the poster here, make sure they have received the AHR invitation or know of it, and include a little note about it on the shower invitation.. I really can't see how a bridal shower would even work if the guest of honor is already married?? -
It would depend on where you're having the wedding! Some ladies are including travel candles and matches as some of the resort rooms have been remarked on as being a "little musty" so it's something to scent the air with.. but for like a cruise ship wedding where you're not allowed candles, this wouldn't work! We're giving Bubba mini mugs to the guys, pashmina's for the ladies, and all kinds of notebooks/pens/keychains/whatever I can get for free from Vistaprint!

Room Blocks and Deposits
DramaticAnnie replied to krsmith's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I am booking on a cruise ship so in case anybody was wondering about that, I had to put a $500 deposit to book myself and my future groom's cabin, before I could book the wedding, and then the wedding had to be paid when booking, which was a big chunk of money but I worked it out with my travel agent that she paid for the wedding on the company's cc, then I paid her in installments for the next month for that cost. For my guests, they could hold their room for $60, but the full deposit is $250 per person, which I told them all to have in by the end of May 2011 (wedding is April 2012, the cruises all have to be paid by January 2012). -
Things You Meant to Do but Didn't Get To
DramaticAnnie replied to Kits55's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Thank you for this! I always figured a DW would be a little more lax on the place cards and table numbers, stuff like that... but I think I am going to remind people about speeches, even if they're just short tiny ones -
Those are beautiful cards!! And the whole sea glass idea is awesome! And you can always have a nice decorative piece in your home afterwards with all these blessings and well wishes, what a great idea. Thanks!

Unique Ceremonies
DramaticAnnie replied to Christine's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
oh you know I wasn't even thinking of special ceremonies like this, but now I kinda am.. I like the idea of the unity candle just because like it says we can light it on special occasions later... The sand one is cool I am just thinking the idea of taking your sand home it wont be in pretty layers once you get it all bumped around in your suitcase :/ -
Cinco de Mayo in Mexico
DramaticAnnie replied to Sharon99's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Yay, another bride who's getting married around the same time as me! lol I've felt like i'm such an early bird on here when looking at other peoples wedding dates And yes, I would email the resort, I'm sure they would have something, and I would guess the festivities will probably be over the whole weekend. -
Bridesmaid Drama
DramaticAnnie replied to MoBayBride2B's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Yes! As soon as we got engaged I got not one, but two requests - one from my niece who is currently like, into the whole drinking (and probably drugs) scene and we're not close at ALL.. but she straight out asked me.. I think I told her that I was hoping she would be able to handle ____... I made up something that I won't be distressed about if she doesn't show/messes it up. She even made a point to say that for her upcomig wedding (to a druggie bf who isnt even around anymore) that she wanted me to be her MOH.. I again had to find a way to tactfully turn that down.. sorry if I sound like a horrible person but seriously we're not close at all, not since she was maybe 4 years old? And she's got lots of friends and other relatives she's closer to. Then a friend of mine who we used to be best friends all while growing up as kids.. then we did the whole club scene and stuff for about a year, every other weekend going out dancing, and then I grew out of it.. graduated University, got into a great career, found a guy I've now been with for almost 7 years.. but she is still doing the club thing, getting old for it in my opinion, the only times over the years when we've been close is when she's been pregnant with one of her three kids, those are the only times she's sober really, then after the kid is born she goes on about how sober life is great and how she's going to stick with it this time.. but nope.. and she cheated on the father of her kids, hangs out with the weirdest people, I mean.. I dunno.. I felt like she never grew up? Anyway, she told me she wanted to be MOH. I was like oh I'm not even sure who's in the wedding party yet.. which I wasn't.. but when I made up my mind on who was in the wedding party, I told everyone. I have a MOH, fiancee has his Best Man, and then theres 3 bridesmaids and a Jr bridesmaid, and 2 groomsmen and a jr groomsman. And I did list her as a bridesmaid, and she was super excited to hear about my DW.. but hasn't put down her deposit yet or anything because she's too busy partying....... sooooo.... the wedding party might end up being evened out after all.. and if she's going to be like this.. I am afraid to think what she will be like when we're there -
Pashminas - Pioneer Group
DramaticAnnie replied to t1219's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I just had to share, I got my pashmina's today in the mail, I am a Canadian bride to be and they were very helpful, I did pay a bunch for shipping but even with shipping they're cheaper then what I would have found around here.. and I must say I LOVE THEM! The quality is so soft and awesome, you know some of the pashmina's and wraps they sell these days, they're not real pashmina, or whatever, but these ones are so soft and luxurious feeling, I love them, my guests are going to think I spent way more then what I did on them! And they have them in so many colors, the turquoise ones I picked out (my wedding color) are the exact bright shade I was hoping they would be, and again they're so soft and can easily be used as a wrap, or a scarf (because it does get way cold up here in the winter) and its soft enough on your neck to keep on all day, yayyyyyy what a great buy! Atta be, pioneer group And by next year I will have reached my post thingy so i can open templates and will print the cute little "to have and to hold, in case you get cold" tag thingies or whatever it is they say -
DW home improvement registry?
DramaticAnnie replied to kimberyly's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I would say nobody knows your guests better then you do... when you get invited to a wedding, is a registry expected? I know where I'm from people do like to give and often do give money, but I also know people who have never heard of a registry and wouldn't know how to go about it. Are your guets the type that would expect to see a registry? If not I would say just hope for the best I guess, I think the idea that some of my guests/friends/family would have is "if you have enough money to have a DW and youre expecting everyone to pay for their trip to attend your DW... why would you ask for money?" something like that :/ -
Bridesmaid totes
DramaticAnnie replied to jillbu11's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I think they're really cute, I just got the email from David's Bridal today about the sale myself - I'm really intrigued by the jewelry rolls, I kept finding ridiculous prices for those online and they're so handy when travelling, I love that you can personalize it for free and that its just $12! -
Oh that's an awesome tip, as I've already ordered the return address labels! Hehe. I didn't see the Aquafina ones at my store but I will keep looking I also bought one of those meshy bags today when I was in picking up some stuff for my mom, I couldn't resist as it is my favorite color (the bright blue one)

Dollarama tote bag findings - as of April 19, 2011 Stopped in at Dollarama today to check out a few things, stopped in the bag aisle, here are those four-picture tote bags people have talked about before: Sorry it's a little blurry, but I think you all have seen them before. This would work really cute with postcards or pics inside, but I found it too 'short' - not that I'm planning to give towels or anything in my OOT bags, but if I wanted to use it as a beach tote or carryall in the future, which I hope our guests will with our bags, it seemed too short to be able to hold everything... but, overall, a nice bag. Just not for me. Then they had these cute, more beachy, heavier bags: These ones were a little taller too, and heavier, so would make a better 'beach tote', but again not for me. There are slight color variations... Then they had these: They are a REALLY heavy fabulous canvas bag that would be great if your new last name was going to be 'recycling'. But seriously, all jokes aside this is a really eco friendly type of bag that people will probably reuse again and again, and the quality was very nice. They also had those mesh bags again, in bright blue, pink, green and I think purple. I really like those blue ones, as they are almost exactly my color, but I am waiting on another BDW bride who may have bought too many of hers and is going to sell me what she has left in her style of blue bags. So exciting! Sorry I didn't get a picture of the blue mesh bags. I also didn't see too great of finds when it came to chapstick, they had the Lypsl kind, one in a pack, and some other brand I hadn't heard of for two in a pack but then I only saw the one package of them. When I went to Walmart they do have some kind of 1.00 lip balm there too, but I found it weird I couldn't spot the actual Chapstick brand? Unless they keep it at a different section then the Lypsl and Nivea and all the other walmart lip balms? I know I'm a long ways away.. and people are still booking.. but I love seeing pics and get so much inspiration, figured I'd share. I'll share again next time I spot something!

I know this is an older thread.. I saw it in your signature on another thread in another post.. or is it another post in another thread?? anyway! I know, like so many others on this site, you credited someone else for this, but thank you thank you THANK you for that little note about starfish, I've already ordered starfish kinda stuff for my wedding and even though I really don't like fish, I was drawn to the cute starfishes for some reason, and now I will be adding this note to my starfish items love it!! Thanks again!
