  1. Hi ladies....I guess I am a WW lurker...lol.. I keep saying I'm going to join. My fiance and I both need to lose weight.....I am just having a hard time getting motivated. Any tips on how to just get started would be helpful. I plan on joining WW online because I won't have the time to go to meetings....
  2. I actually attempted to plan my wedding without a TA and initially signed a contract for a block of rooms. I began to panic when my guests advised that although they were coming to the wedding, they would search for a cheaper rate. Now.....while that sounds great....my fiance and I would be responsible for the rooms not booked. I immediately contacted the resort and asked if the block could be cancelled. They were great and advised they would cancel the block (just waiting for the refund). I contacted a TA (not from this site) that advised they were DW specialist. Two weeks have gone by and I have not gotten any rates....Although I have time..I would like to give my guests some idea of the costs.. Ginger....what do you think is reasonable regarding a timeframe for a TA to get rates for next year? Thanks. JQ
  3. scarlettbride.....as all the ladies have said....it is about you and your hubby-to-be. I totally feel you on being on a budget and not wanted to "plan" a wedding. In the end.....you are saying "I do" to the love of your life.....not your family or friends. Just breathe....close your eyes and remember who it is really about......good luck..... We are all in this together...sort of..... JQ
  4. Hi ladies.... I think it is important to remember that many of the dress designers use seamstresses from overseas anyway. We are just cutting out the "middleman" and getting our beautiful gowns for a fraction of what the designer shops are charging. janette34...when you see the actual detail of the "knock-off" gowns,...you will be amazed.....don't be afraid.....trust me! My two cents! I ordered from jasminesbridalshop.com
  5. Congrats!!!!!! My wedding date is May 20, 2012! We are almost "date twins"! Happy planning!
  6. Yes ebli23!!! They are great! I would have went to shops to try on dresses but I get easily aggravated with dressing room mirrors! LOL!!!
  7. I am nervous too about weight fluctuation because I would like to lose about 20 pounds....It fits perfectly now so I may need to have it altered some. My boobs (a blessing & a curse) are not going ANYWHERE! so....I am confident that I will have little alterations in that area
  8. Its funny you say that....I was thinking of getting another dress myself. I was so amazed at the quality and the time it took, I am thinking about getting an AHR dress too!
  9. Exactly! There is always one.....I tell you!
  10. Someone once said....."Opinions are like a$$holes....everyone has one...." But I like to add to that....."Most of them stink!" Don't let people make you feel any kind of way for the decisions you make for your wedding. Just smile and say "Thank you.....we have already made our decision""Your opinion is neither desired or required".....(Can you tell I've been rehearsing this in my head???) They have already started with me too. JQ
  11. The website has a very detailed measurement page for you to fill out and send back. James can send you one. By the way...I love your dress! So glad they may be able to do it. Yes jasmines is not as "cheap" as some of the other sites.....but honestly from the stories I have read here....you are better off spending a little more for quality work. They don't play games when it comesto when they ship and you get pictures of their progress with your gown......all worth the extra money to me. Besides....you are still paying a fraction of what you would pay at a bridal shop. Good Luck! JQ
  12. Hi torilynn...Yes! I am the "secret customer"....just a little paranois that id they used my real name my fiance would see the dress. So happy to hear your expereience so far with them has been pleasant. James was wonderful at getting right back to me with any questions I had. I am in LOVE with my dress. I will need to have it altered for length and taken in a bit (hopefully when I lose a few pounds) next year. The quality is truly remarkable for the price. As I have said, you will be satisfied with their work.
  13. My fiance is the one who actually said he wants us to separate the night before. I think its cute! We live together so....I think its funny. Are wedding package upgrades us to a suite so he will give the suite to the girls....my MOH and my daughter (bridesmaid) and he will stay with his Bestman. We want to keep the element of surprise!
  14. The name change thing can be even more tedious when it comes to changing professional licenses along with all the other pertinent info. Initially I was going to keep my last name as a tribute to my grandmother...(she still had her maiden name)...but then I thought better of it. My new last name will be Long (no pun intended). My fiance and I have the same first initial to a unique name like mine....and most importantly...it took me all this time to find my love....I would be crazy not to let the world know I am his!
  15. What a great segment! And you two look amazing! Congrats! And....thanks for sharing those tips! I am trying to avoid as much stress as possible! JQ
  16. I actually love the weddingwire site. My fiance and I created our website there and have received so many compliments. JQ
  17. I have yet to order anything from.....so many options....too many to decide. I am probably going to wait until I have a better count of who is coming.
  18. Awwww....I keep hearing that you ladies in Canada do not have Target. Hopefully one will open up there soon. I found the cutest little yellow pails that I will be using for favors/welcomes.... Good luck on your hunt! JQ
