  1. Wow!!! $100K insurance policy?! Sounds crazy ridiculous!! And honestly, sounds like just a ludicrous way they get you to go with their ppl versus bringing in someone else. I wouldn't mind making a playlist either and just renting the equipment, but I just don't want to have to ask any of my guests to 'man' it and make announcements, etc. Did you have someone as an Emcee (sp?) to help guide the flow of speeches, toasts, special dances, etc.? Thank you - already very helpful!

    New!!!

Congrats and welcome to the forum!!
  3. I'm checking it out right now! Thanks for sharing!
  4. Thanks for sharing your beautiful albums! I would love to use Mixbook for when I do my BD and guestbook, so thanks for the helpful reviews!
  5. We're doing both - registering at Bed, Bath & Beyond, either Macy's or Dillard's, and a honeymoon registry....still researching which one to go with! Thanks for the info ladies - I'll check into Honeyfund & Traveler's Joy!
  6. Ok ladies - back to the ever-so-popular & inconsistent topic of outside vendors.... I'm starting to research DJs bc aside from photography, this is one of the MOST important things to me - a great reception I'm hearing I have to use JSAV, but then I'm hearing I can use an outside one & just put in the outside vendor exception request (like I did w/Del Sol) & just pay their day pass. So are all of you using/used JSAV? Can I and/or should I look @ others (ie. Doremixx, Mannia, etc.)? I'd much appreciate any insight, esp. since many of you are ahead of me in the planning process!

    Congrats and welcome!!
  8. Beautiful pics!! I love how all of Del Sol's work is consistently amazing, but they manage to capture every wedding & every couple uniquely! Congrats & thanks for sharing
  9. Congrats and welcome to the forum!! I'm an April 2012 bride myself - there's a thread for us (April 2012 brides) and many, MANY other helpful resources on this site! Just use the 'Search' tool for any and everything
  10. Thanks ladies for your inspiration!! I'm saving this thread for when I do my programs!
  11. Thank you for the helpful feedback! I think we'll be doing the same
  12. We have an exception request for our photographer (Del Sol) and in our contract, it states we just have to pay their day pass. Nothing is in my contract (nor have I been told otherwise) about a vendor fee and/or paying for their room. So strange... I'm starting to research DJs though, so I'd be interested to hear from Palace brides that have been through this and any advice!
  13. We are doing sunset coral, latte brown, and pearlized white (at least that's what I'm envisioning! We'll see what shades it ENDS up being haha)...haven't figured out how to create my own inspiration board, but this is similar to what I'm thinking:
  14. Welcome Essence & congrats!!
  15. Our engagement party is on Saturday and I can't wait! From the time we announced we were doing a DW, we made it clear we didn't want a lot of showers, parties, etc. - but our (oh-so-awesome) wedding party is throwing us a 'Mexican fiesta' party - complete with fajitas, margaritas, etc. They just sent out an invite and made it clear not to bring gifts.
  16. Congrats and thanks for sharing! It looked like a beautiful wedding - love the pic of ya'll at the end!
  17. We did our site visit this past March at GV and it is BEAUTIFUL!! Truly breathtaking! It's upscale, the rooms (all categories) are amazing, and the food is unbelievably great (we were treated to lunch during our site by the WC). Oh, and their spa is like NOTHING I've ever seen before (I work at an upscale hotel, so not to sound like a hotel snob lol, but it takes a lot to impress me when it comes to resorts). We decided to go with Aventura, only because GV would have been too expensive for our guests, but we're considering it for our honeymoon! If you're looking for a luxurious resort, you've found it with GV!
  18. Well-said Ms Di! We live together, but are staying apart from the time we arrive in Mexico up until the wedding night. Partially, because I'd like to build the anticipation, but also - I'm really close to my mom, so we got a larger suite and figured it would be a great 'hub' for all the girls during the week. Plus, I figured I'd be assembling lots of gift bags, running around to WC meetings, makeup/hair trial, etc...so I'll spare him the last minute bridal mania I figure we have the wedding night and honeymoon (and, well...the rest of our lives) to enjoy each other!
  19. I love that yellow dress - so pretty! (and great price)! As for the black dress debate, as it was mentioned before, I don't think they would be hot as long as it's a lighter fabric like chiffon, not satin or anything too heavy. You can also 'beach' it up a lot by adding colorful accessories! Black dresses with tropical, vibrant bouquets and/or heels looks classy, yet beachy bottom line, go for what YOU want to do - after all, it's your day! I am still trying to find my BM dresses - I want short, chiffon, and coral....found a great one @ J. Crew, but it's a bit pricier...
