  1. So just started working on my ceremony programs and would love any of your input on the music options at ASP! Not sure whether to go w/IPOD for the ceremony - if so, I have a few songs for our processional, recessional, etc. OR does anyone know the quality of their violinist, harpist, etc....? Do I go live music or bring my own? I asked my WC if they had any demos of their live musicians and she said no. Thoughts??
  2. Noelle, I'm SO sorry you had such an awful experience - it made me nervous reading it, just bc of the lack of communication I've had w/the wedding planners thus far. But I leave in less than 2 months and really hoping my wedding falls in line with Jess, Taryn, & the other happy ASP brides - staying positive and looking forward to it! For all you May brides, I'll be sure to leave a thorough review when I get back!
  3. I've heard great things about Barcelo Premium and hope to make a visit one day! We decided to go with Grand Velas - thanks for your feedback!
  4. My date is 4/21/12 and I just had my first call/consult with my Miami coordinator (Maggie) this past Thursday. To be honest, she wasn't very helpful and I've gotten most all of my planning info from this site! I'm hoping to get assigned my on site coordinator soon....hang in there and let us know if we can help with any questions
  5. We leave for our wedding in less than 2 months (yaay!!) - I just had my first wedding consult call w/Maggie from Miami Palace office, but I haven't heard who my on site coordinator is. Should I be worried? Luckily, I've gotten so much great info from here so I'm rollin along w/the planning but still would love to know who my coordinator will be!
  6. This is really random, but do any of you know the length (aka the dimensions) of the round tables at the reception and/or how many people they seat? I'm trying to order fabric for table runners (same fabric from my bridesmaid dresses) and need to know the yardage to buy. I emailed Renee/Miami office last week but haven't heard back from her....
  7. I just heard from my Miami-based Palace coordinator (Renee) last week - from what I understand, I'll hear from my on site coordinator about 30 days before, so I wouldn't worry - from what the other girls have said, they'll take care of everything when we're down there (so much easier said than done though for us planners right?!) I have lots of questions too, but am just using this site, which has been helpful for planning and any questions I've had! Definitely bummer you couldn't do the site - we did one and I can ASSURE you though, you made a great choice with Aventura! I can't wait to have our wedding there!!
  8. Hi Alyssa! Thanks for reaching out How much are you asking for the dress? Do you have any pics of it you could post? I've already gotten THE dress, but LOVE the Reese so thinking of getting it for my TTD!
  9. You rock Jessica - thanks for the info! I look the liberty of looking at your pics and you're right, the arrangement they gave you was gorgeous!
  10. Question fellow ASP brides - I am doing the Complimentary Package, which comes with the bride's bouquet and groom's bout.... 1. If ASP's calla lily bouquet looks nice (pics would be even better) and/or 2. If I bring my own/order from Sharon, will they sub out my bouquet/his bout for a ceremony table arrangement or aisle arrangement? Thanks! PS. Just got my (Miami based) coordinator assigned - Renee Foreman! Apparently you get your resort coordinator approx. 30 days prior to your wedding date...
  11. Thanks! And oops - meant to include the website: http://www.favorsyoukeep.com/ Look forward to seeing what your flowers look like - definitely post pics when you're finished!
  12. I just ordered mine! Love them - here's what they'll look like (except with our names haha): I haven't done my brochure of 'Who's who' yet until I have the exact count/know who's coming, which should be after my RSVP date of 2/7. Our date is coming up ladies! It's starting to feel so REAL!

  14. I sent my invites out in September too, but made the deadline for RSVPs February 6th at the suggestion of my TA - I have received a TON of 'yes's' back, but only a few have booked, so dealing with the same issue. I TOO am surprised more ppl haven't booked, but several just started booking this week (I guess just waiting after Christmas, New Year's, or perhaps til the last minute of my RSVP date?)... I was going to send out a gentle email reminder, but an Evite would work just as great (and I like your wording). Soooo frustrating when you're just trying to get a head count, I know....good luck though!!
  15. Perfect - and thanks for the suggestion! I didn't even think about using the mirrors underneath to help illuminate! Enjoy planning your AHR!
  16. Taryn - seems like a small detail I know, but how many LED lights did you use for each vase? I'm about to order and wasn't sure if one is all that's needed for each or more.... Also, things have been crazy with work lately so catching up on this thread - your wedding was BEAUTIFUL!!! You were a stunning bride and the videos were fun Congrats on being a Mrs and thanks for all your helpful info!
  17. You did such a great job!! I esp. love the maracas - do you have the template for the tags? Thank you!
  18. My fiance is getting his and his guys' suits from Jos. A. Bank - they have some tan suits reasonably priced and they often run their buy one, get one and/or group discounts. Good luck!
  19. Have you sold this dress? I've been wanting the 'Reese' so definitely interested!
  20. MissNikki and Ashley, I agree with what the other ladies have said - at first, I was concerned with ASP not having a beach and we were planning on having our wedding at Playacar. But after doing our site visit, as much as we loved the beach at Playacar - we found the venue space at ASP to be better (in our opinion). The guests will be a short shuttle ride for a day trip to Playacar's beach, but ASP is a GORGEOUS property, with lots to do, and great venues to choose from. Good luck with whatever you decide!
  21. Welcome Nikki! You will LOVE Aventura!! A lot of great ideas/advice on this thread, so definitely start from page 1 and work your way through the thread - it's definitely helped me with the planning and answered a lot of my questions!
  22. I am ADDICTED to Pinterest! If anyone wants to follow me (Jamie Laughlin) - I have a huge Destination Wedding board!
  23. Thanks so much for sharing your experience! DJ Doremixx was my top pick, but they are unavailable for my date so it's either J&S AV or DJ Mannia...glad to hear you had a great experience though! ALSO happy to hear they only charged you the guest passes and no vendor/insurance fee. I will call Yesenia tomorrow to see what she says!
