  1. So far good feedback!!! I mean, I know that really I am the one that needs to love the dress, but I just didn't want to be one of those brides that people look at and are like, didn't anyone say anything.... hahaha Wasn't sure if it was too poofy on the sides, don't wanna look like a bell!
  2. OK girls, I am having somewhat of a dress indecision problem... Up until a few months ago, I always wanted a tea length dress - the long dress and the heat just seemed like it would be horrible, plus I don't really classify myself as much of a 'wedding' type. Pretty easygoing, don't want any frills, lace, etc. Well then I started looking at long, chiffon dresses and I really liked some and picked a few I liked. The thing is, for some reason I couldn't pull the trigger and buy one, so I thought maybe I should try on some tea length to see how it feels! Well I tried them on and kinda felt like a little girl, and then felt stuck....until....I tried one on that I thought I would NEVER like! Its taffeta and an asymmetrical length. For some reason I put it on and BAM, I just loved it! The Problem: I have some bridesmaids that are pretty traditional, and just don't seem to 'get' the dress. I don't know if the dress is ugly, or if maybe its great and just completely not their style. Would LOVE some opinions from brides that actually get the whole destination wedding/non traditional thing. Below is the pic of the model dress, then a few of me in it. The dress I tried on was a 12 and I am a 6, so there is a lot of pinning and extra fabric, but hopefully you get the gist of it. Thanks girls, sorry this is so long! I never thought I would have such a problem, but it really is true how important the dress is...who knew Ignore the dumb face Would probably replace this flower with the adorable ones on Etsy
  3. We are flying in on the 9th! But I know that is too late to get the decorations to the coordinator.... I will come hover in the corner shadows of your wedding to see how it all turns out
  4. I am getting married at the IRHS on Feb 11th! I heard Tameica isn't working there anymore, check out the sticky thread in the Jamaica Accommodations & Site section, cause I think someone just posted on this. I am planning on doing a couple things kinda small for the wedding if anyone wants to buy from me! It would be great to not have to lug back home! We can just keep the decorations going bride to bride! I am going to recreate this pic and have floating purple orchids at the wedding site and just use the standard silver chair ties and white chuppah fabric the hotel provides: Then have these floating candles with purple orchids at the table (estimating about 8-10) I am going to put these placemats under the vases and sprinkle sanddollars, shells and starfish around them http://www.orientaltrading.com/round-luau-fringe-place-mats-a2-34_1326.fltr?prodCatId=90000&tabId=1 Then have a starfish for every person at the table for their place tag Sorry if this was long, just excited!!!
  5. We just sent out our STD last week (wedding on 2.11.12), and they directed people to the website we created where we are having everyone RSVP. We just let everyone know to finalize their RSVP by September 15, so 5 months before the wedding. I am expecting some stragglers to come in, but hoping not. I created a Facebook page, since almost all guests are on there (isn't everyone nowadays..) and will bully people on there if we need people's response We have to get place settings, OOT bags, and everything else figured out, so I guessed that would be enough time for me to get my stuff done, and give people enough time to save and see if they will be able to afford to come. I think it more depends on how many people you are inviting..we only expect around 35, so not too stressful!
  6. OH, and a special note: the website doesn't look as fantastic in Internet Explorer than it does in Firefox or Google Chrome browsers...perhaps it's only known to development folk, but IE is a pretty trash browser and takes a ton of work to make look nearly as pretty as FF or Chrome....and I have more fun things to do (like pick out flowers and dresses!!)
  7. Our website is all created and up for viewing! We built it all ourselves, that's what you get for having two techies getting married! I just didn't really like those other template websites out there, it wasn't as custom as I was looking for and usually a little too sappy for our taste We also really wanted to save on Invitations, so we sent out our boarding pass STD magnets (those will be in another post ) and just directed everyone here to RSVP! Let me know what you all think!!!! www.joeandbri.com
  8. Oh my gosh where did you get this dress?!?! I love it!
  9. Congrats, you are couple weeks after me!! It's gunna be a fun 10 months of planning
  10. Ah, someone just beat me to it! We are all on the lookout i guess!
  11. There is another wedding dress sale on Ideeli. If you are not a member, you just sign up and get access to great deals on designer clothes, shoes, etc. There are some really cute Nicole Miller dresses, check it out girls! www.ideeli.com
  12. I think it's really cute!! I love when couples put their personality into their std/invites/ect, makes it really unique.
  13. Our wedding is booked 2.11.12!!!!! We are so excited and I already pretty much have my save the dates and wedding website built!! So excited to plan with you girls! Quick question (first of many ) - Does anyone know, or has anyone seen people on the resort with their own mugs? I would like to put some customized ones in the OOT bags, but don't want to go to the trouble if they're not allowed. Also, still looking to see if anyone has pics of the artificial flowers the resort has for the huppa. Thanks!
  14. For the plastic card holders, here is where I am planning on getting mine, I believe this is where all the girls got the ones with the zip top: http://cgi.ebay.com/Lot-50-Vertical-Business-ID-Card-Badge-Holder-w-Zipper-/130489885394?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e61cda2d2#ht_2657wt_934 I would check out the whole store, looks like there are amazing deals!
  15. Soniag123 - We just called the resort yesterday and found out Nicole was on vacation until I think today. I, like you, am anxiously waiting replies from her... but I am just hoping our date is open, I don't know how fast they book up! Hopefully we hear back soon!
  16. Thanks, I was more looking for if anyone has actually ordered the dress itself, so I could hear about the quality from the specific place. I believe all places I have found it online will not be from the designer itself, but replications. The top detail is just what makes me nervous....
  17. I have the same question Islandgirl910! I know I have seen on previous posts in this thread about the artificial flowers, but would love to see what they look like! btw...still waiting to hear back about our date...
  18. I am absolutely in LOVE with the dress below after I found it on House of Brides, but after looking through the forum I saw terrible reviews about them. I have found it on a number of other websites (queenswedding.com, peridress.com), but am worried about the quality and that it wont look the same. Has anyone ordered this dress or seen it, and if so where did it come from. If it comes down to it I might have to try to find someone to custom make it, but really don't want to spend too much. I think once you find your dress you just know, and I know I love this dress. Also, if anyone has seen anything similar could you post a link? Thanks in advance for your help!!
  19. shoot...I didn't know how to directly reply to your post...got it now
  20. It was the day before my birthday, he had me wait outside the hotel and pulled up in a limo, practically ran me over when I got inside and just blurted out the question He was super nervous, I don't know why though cause I am positive I made it obvious that's what I wanted! Now just waiting patiently for my reply that our date is open....this is nerve-racking!! I thought a destination wedding was supposed to be a piece of cake haha!
  21. Hey Everyone!! I just got engaged in Vegas last weekend over my 30th birthday! I have been literally stalking this forum, specifically this thread, for about a year now. My fiancee and I have been together for 4 years (in a couple days) and have always said we wanted a destination wedding, and being the planner I am, I thought I would get a head start . Am currently on page 140 and hopefully I will get most of my questions answered and not have to stress too much. I just emailed IRHS and am hoping my date in February 2012 is open!! Thanks ahead of time for your help and patience!! Bri
