  1. I absolutely love these... Wish I'd done something similar when I was married! Ginger @ Blue Petal
  2. Hi there! My advice would be to ask your travel agent to get it for you. Travel agencies have access to Business Development Managers from countries all over the world who have access to all of that collateral. If you didn't book through a travel agent, you will have to go to the tourism board directly. I'm thinking the closest Dominican Tourism office to Maryland would be the NYC one... United States - New York 136 E. 57th St., Suite 803 New York, NY 10022 212-575-4966 888-374-6361 Sometimes it's hard to get marketing collateral from them unless you are in the travel industry but if with a bit of persistance and sweet talk I bet you'll pull it off! 3. Pleasure... I miraculously managed to keep mine free of wine spills. My gorgeous frangipani / orchid bouquet on the other hand was destroyed by two women in their early 30's that are both dying for a ring! ha ha Ginger
  4. Hi there! I wore a stark white dress and I loved it... It was simple, light, sheer and most importantly cool! A light breeze was enough to keep me cool and the photos of my dress blowing in the wind were gorgeous. I've attached an image, although I don't have many with the actual water as a backdrop... I got married in Australia though and the water wasn't particularily turquoise. Mother nature provided an amazing sunny day though, and I think my white dress looks lovely with the blue sky background! One word of warning, with stark white make sure you protect it well for travel! Ginger ~ Blue Petal
  5. Hi Heather, You will probably find child seats quite few and far between in many countries, including Jamaica. Most airlines will allow you to carry a car seat for free as part of your checked baggage. Key word there is "most" and I'm not sure who you are flying with. Even if you do bring the seat, that's not to say the transfer coach will have seat belts! You could find a private transfer company if you would like to ensure your childs safety but you will certainly pay a premium for that. A taxi at the other end is another solution. You could contact Beaches directly and query as to what type of vehicle they use for their transfer service and if it is "car seat compatible" if you're worried. This property has an excellent nanny service, I can't recall ever hearing a complaint about the child care staff or the kids club. The opposite in fact, it's usually glowing reviews. Hope that helps! 6. I talk to DW brides every day and each one has a story about some family member who got upset / can't afford it / won't attend, etc. I am now convinced no matter where you get married somebody won't be happy. I think what makes a DW better is that once you are there everyone is happy! I did a DW myself and one of my brothers didn't attend, claiming he couldn't afford it. I felt bad for a year and only recently found out he bought a car and spent a week in Mexico only a few months after. I was very hurt and probably always will be but when I think about the amazing week he missed out on, I care a lot less! I also had a many pleasant "no's". All those relatives I didn't want to invite somehow couldn't make it, so clearly they didn't want to be there either! Fine with me, nobody there to spoil it for us!
  7. One of the reasons AI resorts will limit the time there is because of the "room capacity vs dining capacity" ratio. They need to make sure there is always enought dining space at peak times without long lines, and enough restaurant variety to keep everyones tastebuds entertained for a week! If you have ever visited an AI that got this "formula" wrong, you will consistently be waiting in a line around meal times. I once visited a 3* in Mazatlan that had the same bland food every day for a week in the only restaurant. I vowed to never go 3* again!
  8. Hi Purple Unicorn, I think your FI looks fine, but comfort is number one because you are both going to be excited, nervous, etc on the big day. Another thing I'd suggest taking into consideration is the destination. If it's hot and humid, I'd go with loose fitting! What I did for my FI (or now husband!) was went out and bought a second pair of the same pants one size bigger and made him try those on. As soon as he tried on the bigger pair he made up his own mind and I returned the smaller pair. At the end of the day, it's his decision and how he feels is most important Ginger - Blue Petal Weddings
