  1. Thanks! Very helpful! I always had my eye on Birds of Paradise...
  2. I think they only do 2 weddings a day - you should have seen what I did to get married on that day lol. Pretty much we have to meet with the judge at 1:00 and then the wedding coordinator will be performing the "symbolic ceremony" at 5:00 so no one will be any the wiser! We are having our dinner at Il Capriccio - I paid for the private reception. I think we are just going to use the hotel's photographer - I'm a little disappointed that our package only comes with 10 pictures from the ceremony only but I figure our friends/family will make up for the rest )
  3. This is the Template I used. No real special instructions other than that these are for magnet STDs and you can buy they Avery manget sheets anywhere that sells office supplies. Then we used the big cutter to slice them! Microsoft Word actually has a template for the stickers for the envelopes that match this exact design on the template too. Sorry if anyone has already seen this (and don't mind the dates and names, it was from the original template).
  4. I wanted to talk to some of the brides who have already been married in Punta Cana - or really anyone that might have this information. What have you seen as your choices for flowers in Punta Cana? I just wanted to have some sort of idea what I would be able to work with. Or do you suggest speaking to the WC about your options? I think she said I would pick when I get there...
  5. My wedding is is November 2011. We secured a group rate as well for our guests. Right now we have 14 people confirmed (you have to guarantee 10 people within so many days of getting the group rate price) and then my WC needs a guest list 3 months before our wedding date - so August. So I'm planning on sending my invitations out in May and asking for an RSVP of July something... Everyone that wants to book with our group rate has to book by September in any case anyways. Plus we are doing a private reception that I paid for a specific amount of people which is the case for our ceremony as well - you have to pay x number of dollars for every person over the amount I paid for. So I want to avoid last minute bookings as well and being surprised with a new number of people - so as long as they RSVP by July then they can book however they want
  6. Couple of more quick questions (sorry!!) - if I am inteterested, is it an already pre-determined design? Sorry if I missed that part of the thread... And since I'm in Canada, how would it be to ship them to me?
  7. Dammit...I may be interested but I'm not even close to deciding how many I would need - I haven't sent out my invitations yet. I really do like this idea though... I also need to discuss it with my other half. Speaking of the other half and their concern with "over packing" lol - how would you transport these to PC?
  8. I don't have any info on it but I just wanted to comment. It does look beautiful but things like this make me nervous. Sometimes guests, brides, etc. get "lost" in transition and then things that are supposed to be done for the takeover by a certain time end up taking longer than expected which may or may not affect your wedding. I would be a little bit hesitant to pick a resort that would be going through a transition around the time of my wedding. When is your date?
  9. My profile says my sig will become active after I have been active in the forums I still can't see the option to change it
  10. Either I am totally blind or my account is differnet because I don't see it anywhere I have "edit account details" but even in there it says nothing about sigs.
  11. I also thought about doing the symbolic ceremony. It's just that my FI has his heart set on being married on 11/11/11 - I barely got the date as it is. So we actually sign everything with the judge at 1:00 and then have our symbolic ceremony at 5:00 because I couldn't get that date any other way. So let me ask you this then... If you do the legal documents here in Canada, does your marriage certificate say that date or can you change it? I ask because that would be the deal breaker for my FI.
  12. I see lots of people with signatures of their wedding dates and how many people are confirmed, etc. I'm jealous! lol How do I do this?
  13. I booked with Gran Bahia Principe Punta Cana and I did that in February I believe. I was looking for November 11, 2011 and almost EVERYWHERE I looked the date was booked (the whole 11/11/11 appeal lol). But I did find my date with them. Best advice I got from my TA was that when I'm emailing the WCs from these hotels, if you don't get a good turnaround time in their responses - look elsewhere. These are people that you have to deal with via email all the way up until you arrive to your destination. Communication is key!
  14. Congrats on your engagement! You will find lots of useful information here.
  15. I have just been reading a few things that have me concerned and I wanted to ask a specific question relating to this... I am getting married at the Gran Bahia Principe Punta Cana. Part of our package includes a photographer for our ceremony (10 pics or something like that). I KNOW I will have friends and family that will want to take pictures as well. Is this not possible? I have read a couple of things about people making a big deal that people were taking pics at the ceremony, especially if they have professional cameras. I don't know what their definition of "professional" is but I know a few people with SLR cameras. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!!!
  16. I'm getting married at the GBP Punta Cana - it's all in the same location. We are getting married on November 11, 2011. I will post up some pics after the day
  17. I don't know how much our flight is.... I can tell you we are staying at the Gran Bahia Principe Punta in the Club Golden section and all together, taxes in, our group rate is $1385 CDN.
  18. Thanks again everyone for the vote of confidence in my timeline! @Winniethepiglet - I like your idea of the keepsake as well. We have our group rate reserved - I just had to have 10 people pay upfront in like the first 2 weeks to ensure the group rate. So we did that with us, my parents and my bridal party.
  19. I do have a wedding website though I didn't have it at the time that I sent the save the dates out. We did things kind of quickly there because I had just gotten engaged on December 7th and sent out the STDs in mid-January. I will include the website on my invitaitons though. Thanks for agreeing with my timeline! It makes me feel MUCH better! LOL
  20. Thanks so much for your reply! I will most likely end up sending you a PM in the next few days! lol
  21. I'm just not sure what to do...to break it down; the wedding coordinator in DR said she would need a guest list 3 months before our wedding which would be August. If people are booking with our group rate, they have to make a full payment by the beginning of September. So I almost feel like I need to stick with those timelines, you know? I don't want people booking after the rest of book because that will alter the packages for our wedding as well (both the ceremony and the reception). So my idea was to send out invitations in May, have them RSVP by July and then that way I can get a guest list to the coordinator by August AND they will have sufficient time to pay for September. I don't know if that makes any sense...lol
  22. Hey everyone, I'm getting married at the Gran Bahia Prinicpe Punta Cana on November 11, 2011. I'm just getting a little overwhelmed about how I should go about getting all the legal documents they require in order. I know they have to be translated as well. So far I know this: -Single Status Declaration (did you get this notorized by someone or at the DR consulate?) -Birth Certificate -Copies of passports -Copies of passports of the 2 witnesses. I live in Canada if that helps. How did you ladies go about doing all this?? I just want some pointers. I feel a little lost! Also, if you don't NEED your passport to travel to Dominican but instead can use a driver's license combined with your birth certificate - would this be sufficient as opposed to the passports?
  23. I am getting married here on November 11, 2011. We are flying out on the 6th I believe and leaving on the 13th. We picked the Sunshine package. Having a private reception at the Italian restaurant they have. Our ceremony is at 5:00pm and our reception is at 6:30.
