The above are my girls' dresses in their colours...my MOH's dress is a different style but will be the same colour. I think these need to be shortened...

I'm getting married at the Gran Bahia Principe Punta Cana. So far I have decided I will probably do music from my iPod. I don't think I will really mind missing out on random music throughout dinner and random things happening while we are eating... Is anyone else doing this? What about music for when you walk down the aisle? Do hotels set this up for you somehow? I was thinking of just doing our first dance at the reception and then at some point have the father/daughter dance and then just play the iPod as dinner is wrapping up for everyone.

@bride2beDebbie - I think both dresses are beautiful in different ways. They are both very different styles. I agree that I think you have to try them on and see them on yourself before you decide. Let us know what you pick!

I absolutely love it! It's beautiful and completely light weight. I don't feel like I'm going to want to rip it off of myself in the middle of the ceremony from heat exahustion! LOL Great price too! I honestly thought I was going to end up with a Maggie Sottero destination wedding dress...then I put OUR stunner on lol.

And after reading through the rest of the posts it looks like you picked #1! lol Again, both were great choices. I was looking at Maggie's desintation dresses before I ended up choosing something completely different! lol I ended up with a Mori Lee mermaid style. Both dresses looked great on you!

I'm going to play devil's advocate here...sorry lol. I like this one better on you - they are both beautiful gowns but I think this one is very flattering on you!

I'm glad to hear they like the resort ) I keep hearing people say great things about it which makes me feel good about my choice! lol

The reception part can be kind of confusing. You have to ask the hotels you are interested in for a price list so you can get it figured out. Basically, the $850 gives you a private reception away from all the other people staying at the hotel - the price is depending on how many people will be there. So the price I'm paying pays for a plated dinner (I think it's 4 or 5 courses) for up to 30 people or something like that. Then once it's over the 30 people, they have another price point for up to 40 or whatever it was (I would attach the price list but the site isn't allowing me to attach things today for some reason). Now, the price of the wedding (the $1500) will cover your place at one of the a la carte restaurants with your guests BUT it is not private. So you and your guests would be eating with other people from the resort.

Is anyone having problems trying to "insert image" and not having the button work? All the buttons on the toolbar aren't working for me...I can't insert an image, attach a file, use a smiley, etc.

To update.... I told my father that I'm not comfortable with inviting only a select few to our AHR. I said we have to figure out a way to include EVERYONE or just scrap it....stay tuned for that one... proti007 - thanks for posting the invite to your AHR! I love the wording and it's very cute!

We have all encoutered these situations. "You guys are selfish for not allowing your whole family to participate." "You want us to pay $1385 for all inclusive? That's ridiculous!" "I needed more than a year's notice for work". "You're only doing this because you guys are cheap". "You must think pretty badly of yourself because *insert relative's name here* won't be able to come". Whatever... No matter how I planned my wedding, SOMEBODY would be moaning about it. It has nothing to do with being cheap (just an added bonus lol) it's about making it more intimate and fun because I honestly don't care if my 3rd cousin 5 times removed comes or not. Am I upset that my grandparents can't travel? Yes, of course. But this is what we wanted to do and this is not just MY day. It's my fiance's day too who has ZERO family. If people are being rude just say what I say, "Well if you aren't able to come, that's okay. I probably won't even notice that you're not there" with a big ass smile on my face.

Sorry for thread whoring lol... Just wanted to mention a couple of other things because I saw them mentioned. As of this moment, my dress is in, my bridesmaid dresses are in, my hotel and private reception there are booked, group rate is secured, STDs went out in January to give people PLENTY of notice and this weekend I will be doing my wedding invitations.

If it makes you feel better... My RSVP rate is July...the hotel needs my guest list by August so that's what I'm using that time! My group rate has to be paid in full by September anyways. We have already secured our group rate until then (for up to 30 people) by putting deposits down for 10 people within 14 days of making the booking. We had the 2 of us, our bridal party (6) and my parents secure their spot right away.

I'm actually planning on sending out invites for the AHR months later. My wedding is November 11, 2011. For the DW I'm asking for a RSVP for mid-July because the hotel needs a guest list for August. My AHR is booked for November 26, 2011. I'm going to send out invites for this in August or September. That way I don't have to worry about people scrapping my actual wedding in favour for the AHR and it's a little less confusing with the invitation wording, etc.
