  1. Wowzas! What a gorgeous dress! What size is it? What brand/designer?
  2. Love this idea! I had never thought of doing this. I like the idea of a week long silly photo scavenger hunt. Might have to add that to our welcome book
  3. so its funny I just found this thread. Went home to my moms this weekend and she showed me the cake serving set and the toasting flutes that she bought for FI and I for the wedding. I felt like such a jerk, but I was like "MOM! How are we going to get those down south?" Luckily I didnt hurt her feelings too much, we both laughed because she said, I dont know, i was going to give them to you to bring down. I talked her into returning them or giving them to someone else for their wedding. Its sooo not worth the hassle. (plus they were VERY frufru-shishi.... not my style at ALL) I like to keep it simple, thats why we HAD the destination wedding to begin with! Unfortunately i didnt know how to break it to her that a white satin wedding album is not really my style either. sooooo I will have to bite the bullet on that one. But seriously, white satin??? will people need to wear gloves to look at our wedding album???? I mentioned that it would be hard to keep clean and that it would get dusty, and she told me that I had to keep it in the box????? OR i could wash it. How does one wash a photoalbum??? LOL. gotta love mom-logic!
  4. FI and I are thinking of doing a get to know the guests game. We are going to have a welcome dinner and cocktail reception (just at the all inclusive restaurant and the lobby bar, nothing private). FI and I love "Minute to Win it" (in fact thats how he proposed, he had me do a bunch of the minute to win it games for clues to my birthday present, which turned out to be the ring. (I thought he was getting me a kitchenaid mixer..... I was WAY off). Anyways, I thought a game like this would be great to break the ice amongst guests who dont know each other too well. It also sets the tone for the rest of the vacation. We are there to have fun with our loved ones! I can't wait to have a look at the template, maybe we can incorporate the guests info into the welcome night festivities somehow.
  5. Yay! Thanks for the photo book link! Just bought the groupon. I bought another one a few months ago for picaboo and used it to make a photo guestbook for my brother and his fiancé She loved it and even shed a few tears. This is a great gift idea! The $100 credit is enough to make 2 large photo books at picaboo so I am going to do another one after their wedding for a coffee table book I think I will use ours for photo books for the moms and maybe even one for pics from our AHR.
  6. Hey canadian ladies, I have been looking into Afloral for the purchase of supplies to make my real touch bouquets. they have a great overstock sale right now, but I am getting an enormous shipping charge when I go to ring it up, almost $50 just for shipping. Have any of you used any canadian or other providers for realtouch flowers? Any tips are appreciated before I pull the trigger on this order! It might be worth waiting to do a trip to the US to go to hobby lobby or something.....
  7. LOL. forget the wedding day countdown. I am counting down until I can see your planning thread! Your guests are going to be blown away!
  8. ooh I like the starfish/underwater one! nice work. did you use powerpoint to make these? I think I might play around and make some monograms this weekend!
  9. I love love love this! Cant wait to get to 150 posts!
  10. Hey gals, Hope you are all having a good day! Tori's google situation got me nervous so I went and updated my profile pic and double checked my personal info in my profile. ps. I also updated my # booked as the RSVPs are starting to roll in! We have 21 booked/ or confirmed and planning to book soon so far!! Plus FH and I. I am getting SO excited! I was really starting to get nervous about the upcoming early booking deadline, and the fact that I hadnt heard from hardly ANYONE, even the bridal party and our parents. If I learned anything, its that people do NOT RSVP. If I put myself in their shoes, I guess I understand it, the wedding is not until April, so they figure its a ways off! But I crafted a very straight forward email letting them know the important dates, and requesting they respond that way, and now I have received loads more response. I also found out that a number of my STD postcards never made it through canada post. I mailed them after the strike, but I guess they either got lost or they got thrown out by mistake. Either way, I highly recommend checking in with your guests 1 or 2 months before your group booking deadline by email and then by phone! I plan to call all those without emails, the older folk, and the ones that I know need "a personal invitation" wink wink.
  11. Hi there! I can totally appreciate your frustration, and was feeling the same way. In my case, some of our guests had actually never received our STDs in the mail, not sure if it was due to the postal strike, they got lost or just accidentally thrown into the recycle pile. Others hadnt gotten back to us, they probably felt they had time to book, as they likely hadnt gotten around to checking out the wedding website, or maybe they were just deciding. Either way I was worried about my upcoming early booking deadline at the end of september, and the fact that some might not have received their STD. I collected almost all of my guests email address and all of their phone numbers. I sent out a reminder email with some upcoming important dates. The problem with my STD postcard is that the link is printed there but guests have to actually type it into their internet browser. Many people never get around to doing this, since they beleive they have lots of time! (our wedding is still 8 months out). Here is a sample of the email that I sent, with personal info removed. Hi Friends and Family! By now you will have received a Save-the-date postcard for our Destination wedding. For those of you that have booked, thank you! I have heard from a few people that their invite never arrived. I think the postal strike may be to blame, but in any case I am sorry to hear it and wanted to be sure to check in with you to ensure you get the information about the wedding. 12. Lovely! My 3BMs are wearing Henkaa dresses too! They look so good! You've reinforced that that choice was a good one!
  13. woohoo, a fellow impulse shopper! Now I don't feel SO bad
  14. ps great deals on there for possible bridesmaids dresses!! Good call Manda, they are all so cute I love me a good party dress!
  15. Thanks for this, I totally just bought the 2nd dress! I hope it fits ok. I should never online shop on a monday.... I didnt even check the return policy before I purchased! eep. I will likely wear it for the rehearsal, or if its too short, maybe the bachelorette party??
  16. I never even thought about being google-able! I checked my wedding website and my name but mine doesn't come up. Thats so strange that it popped right up for them. Too bad it had to ruin the surprise since you have been working so hard. Sorry to hear that Tori
  17. ugh those pics are terrible. I will hopefully get some better pics of these up close at the wedding. Or figure out how to use my own camera properly!! lol Thanks to Chelsea who was my original inspiration! They did take a long time to make myself, but the BM's I made using the same pattern, so the 2nd and 3rd pairs took a lot less time! And shopping around for the beads I wanted was super fun!! For those of you in the GTA, I found a good selection at a little bead shop at warden and eglinton. Tucked in beside the Dollarama! I also got some of my supplies from dollarama, the stretchy cord and the seed beads (tiny ones).
  18. Nice! great minds think alike. I just worked on mine this weekend but havent added pics yet! here are the ones I made for the BMs. They are tough to photograph, and also my toes are a mess!
  19. I have heard the cheap totes canvas bags are good quality and there are a number of girls on the forum who have successfully ironed on their logos/images. Have you ever checked out http://www.weddingchicks.com/shop/ or Etsy? You might find some of higher quality, that they can design for you? One less project...

  21. Hey ladies, I read a few negative reviews on Arricefe the preferred photog vendor for PPC. anyone else use them and have any feedback? Good or bad? I have emailed Teresa, but you guys are usually faster... is there a fee at PPC to bring in another photographer?
  22. Cant wait to read your review on Julia! her pics are amazing, I have already emailed her, but will be interested to know how it was working with her. we will see if shes available for our date!
  23. Hey Luvmoo, congrats on your success!!! now thats what I call motivation. I am setting the alarm an hour early tomorrow and starting back up on p90x again. no more excuses. ps. today sent an email out to friends and family today to try to incite some more RSVPs. Not sure why I am feeling a little nervous about the headcount, but people inherently like to do these things at the last minute. (I dont blame them, I do too!) Since our deposit deadline is over a month out, they still have some time. But I have already heard back from some, so the anxiety level is much lower now!!
  24. Yay! So exciting. Though it reminds me that I haven't even bought a dress yet, or found one for that matter. I have been putting it off, but I better get on it soon. I found one I like at davidson bridal and they don't need so long to order it so I figure I have time. But I want to lose weight....it's so hard to have to order so far in advance!
