thank you girls!

I feel you girl!!!! I was shocked at the photography sticker price for a wedding. The typical wedding photographer (that I loved, anyway) tripled my budget. Im a huge fan of photojournalism and knew i would look at the pics daily for the next ten years (ha), but couldnt bear the idea of going into debt over a wedding photographer. With that said, after about 40 combined hours of searching for a photographer (no joke), I found (www.erickpozos.com) He's PHENOMENAL!!!!!!! He is one of the top destination photographers in the world (even teaches at wedding photography conventions here in the states), yet is a fraction of the price of del sol (dont get me wrong, they take beautiful pics, but I just didnt have several thousand to drop on photography). He lives in Mexico, but it was cheaper to fly him to Jamaica to shoot our wedding than it was to use one of the mediocre photographers there. We just had our wedding last week so it will be a while before the pics are ready, but some sneak previews should be coming soon at http://www.facebook.com/#!/erickpozos or www.facebook.com/erickpozos In the meantime, here's the only photo he sent so far http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fbid=10150622787905088&set=a.10150620186975088.689246.654590087&type=1&theater if that doesnt work, I'm posting it to my profile on this site. Bonus: He's super, duper nice... he even researched cheaper flights for several hours so i would save money on flying him out there and found a deal $150 cheaper than what I found. Plus, he speaks great english (sometimes a hit or a miss with mexico photographers) Message me if you have any questions

hi girls!!!! Sorry ive been MIA for a month, but its been crazy around here!!! working, raising a toddler, planning a destination wedding, attending grad school and planning an AHR is no easy feat!!!!!!! I'll try to start throwing together a review.... in the meantime, my fb is www.facebook.com/misti.hagemann. You can go there for pics. I wont be on here too much so if you have any q's email me at [email protected]. I prob wont have TOO MANY answers since I went basically free all the way, but I'll answer what I can. Oh! and for those of you looking for a photographer, i researched photographers out there for HOURS and DAYS but couldn't afford anyone I really liked. it ended up being cheaper for me to fly a internationally acclaimed photographer out there (www.erickpozos.com, www.erickpozosblog.com) to take 2 days of pics than their ridiculous prices. He's absolutely amazing. ....and as sweet and humble as it gets. seriously. www.facebook.com/erickpozos Best wishes... and DONT WORRYYYYY! There was only 3 emails between the WC and I before I got there (really, she only answered ONE with my question list). I just picked from a picture book upon arrival and everything was (almost) perfect!!!!!! Ok, now onto my review.... Cheers!

Wedding Linens Direct (aka Pouch World Inc) is AWESOME!
Misti replied to KJT1985's topic in Bride Referrals
Be weary of this company For me, the color did not look like it does online, nor did it look like a "turquoise." They posted their "store room hours" online so I went buy to see if I could exchage it. I had NOT opened the package - it was sealed, so I didnt think there would be any problem exchanging it. Upon walking in, I got so many strange looks and uncomfortable faces. Women in the office stared continuously as I talked to Robert (of Weddinglinendirect). I dont know how they were so shocked someone was in the office. Apparently, they do not want people to come visit their store, despite the storeroom hours posted. He said he would not exchange them for me there and I had to pay for shipping. Shipping was $8.49 (surprisingly expensive for a house 15 min away). This meant I was to pay $25.47 in shipping 20 chair sashes 3 times. That DOUBLED the amount for the sashes!!! I do not want to pay $50 for twenty dollar chair sashes that did NOT match the description or the picture. Oh wait! I fogot. They also wanted me to pay a 35% RESTOCKING FEE on top of that! So it would be $60.00 for some cheap quality, wrongly labeled chair sashes worth $20. What a scam!!!!!! -
I think sats, but not sure.

thanks hc for the review, it was helpful. and thank you bmadzia for the info. Its confirmed: I am a June 10th RIU bride!!!

Hi girls! I've been leaning towards RIU and been active on its boards, but I'm still interested in this hotel. It really all comes down to price and the numbers I'm getting from the WC are broad and dont include those all too familar hidden fees and extras. Would anyone mind sending me all their info on this hotel? I can also offer all RIU info/prices that I have if anyone is interested.... Thanks!~ misti misti (at) yahoo (dot) com

Thx. Maybe I'll get my make up done in the lobby.
-
I'm curious about this too. I didnt recieve an answer back as to how many ppl are included in the free package... or any for that matter.
-
Are you guys using travel agents???? Whats with the kids free thing? Is that just a promo till aug? I found it on a few websites (like hotels.com) or other websites that said it was a promo and needed to be booked by march 31...but the date seemed to vary or only be on promo websites.
-
Wow! You ladies have been busy over the last few days! I'm glad to see so much info on here and even more glad to see everything is pretty negotiable. Have all of you signed contracts and are now figuring out prices for everything? Is that how these thigns work? Bc that seems backwards considering the massive hidden extras are what will make me choose another resort. ugh~! Blonde question: When you guys are talking about the system rental are you talking about the DJ's large stand and equipment....or just a PA system? BC I really really really want to rent the PA system

Thanks Dayna!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
well, if they are charging for a florist to come and drop off flowers what if someone meets them to pick up the flowers in the lobby??
-
no kidding
-
Oh, and JJS, I would love that list you have if you dont mind. mmc: yes, but despite my specific q's i'm only getting sent partial generalized info. I guess my wedding isnt close enough to actually get too involved in,
-
JJS, Thank you ROR guru for dispensing your knowledge. That helps. What does the option 2 (beach party AFTER our free dinner) include? I know the bar stays open but do they set up tables and chairs, etc...? Also, what time does the bar closest to the beach close? ALSO, Does anyone have a guest newsletter they wouldn't mind emailing me (mistinicole at yahoo dot com)? I dont have priviledges yet. Ok, I'll stop my neediness now.
