That is a good price! The Azul Beach is one of the most expensive resorts but also one of the nicest! Congrats and keep us posted on your planning and wedding

Hi Ellen. We chose Jamaica and are getting married at the RIU Ocho Rios in Jamaica. Neither of us have been there, but we have both heard nothing but positive things about the resort and Jamaica, so we decided "What the heck"! When it came down to it, we wanted to choose either the Mayan Riviera in Mexico (I've been and LOVE it) or Jamaica. Since we got amazing pricing back for both places and were happy to go to either, we asked our guests. We figured that if they are spending their money to join us, then they should have a say. Most everyone voted unanimously to go to Jamaica, so that's what we decided on. Choosing your destination and resort was the most difficult part for us so far, but I'm sure you will find your place in no time Are you working with a TA?

WOW! I totally feel your pain. I started a Newbie post out of total frustration at choosing the right place for us and our guests. Check out the post bc some of the lovely ladies on here gave me some terrific advice that really helped me decide. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/71352/frustrated-newbie I definitely found that choosing the resort was the biggest challenge...that and bad TA's. My FI wanted to work under the radar of $1500pp, taxes in for our guests so it seemed difficult to accommodate that at first. Once I found the right TA, it turned out we ended up right where we started when we decided on a DW. HAHAHA! Keep us posted on how it's coming along

Sorry this took so long for a reply...one heck of a week last week! Here is a breakdown of what our TA was able to do for us: It's long but I'm re-posting part of the email she typed up for us..... Hotel: RIU Ocho Rios (5 star, all-inclusive resort) Garden View Room- All inclusive-7 nights Departure from Toronto on April 25, 2012 and Returning from Jamaica on May 2nd, 2012 Group Discount Rate $1846 per person, tax included - Based on Single Occupancy $1436 per person, tax included - Based on Double Occupancy $1396 per person, tax included - Based on Triple Occupancy $1006 tax incl child (2-12) $1006 tax incl 2nd child (2-12) Hotel: RIU Ocho Rios (5 star, all-inclusive resort) Ocean View Room- All inclusive-7 nights Departure from Toronto on April 25, 2012 and Returning from Jamaica on May 2nd, 2012 Group Discount Rate $1886 per person, tax included - Based on Single Occupancy $1486 per person, tax included - Based on Double Occupancy $1436 per person, tax included - Based on Triple Occupancy $1226 per child, tax included (2-12) For every 15th person that books, the 16th is free. We are using these free trips to divide amongst the group to reduce individual cost as our thank you for coming Not sure about where you live but if you still want to explore other TA options, here is my 2 cents on my new TA.... After previous and failed attempts with 3 other travel agents over the last 3 months, we finally found the right person for the job....Irene Gomes at traveldiscounters.ca. She is AMAZING!!!! Irene helped us find our destination, trip package and choose a resort all in under a week!!! She has been so patient with us and spent a lot of time talking to us about what we wanted and needed and didn't make us feel bad for any of it. Did I mention she is AMAZING?! LOL. Just emailed the TA to book the RIU Ocho Rios in Jamaica 'man'! Can't wait to confirm everything and book my wedding date! FINALLY!!!!!

Hey ladies! I just got back 2 GREAT quotes BUT now I can't decide...hahaha. I don't know where to go and my FI says to decide and let him know...hahaha. I've made a pro and con list on all of them but they both come out equal. For party fun, Jamaica is kind of secluded that's the only con of that one. For Mexico, it's the only hot place I've been (but totally love it) so that can be a con but also a pro. Ooooh, I need feedback!!!! Any one have an opinion

Well, we are making some headway with choosing a resort so that rocks! I wanted to share some good news since I started off my post kind of grumpy.... I won a wardrobe stylist for me and my wedding party and a full service wedding planner YAY! Talk about stress free. I hope you're all having great luck with planning your big day

My TA said that with SunWing, every 15th person is free... which can be used toward the Bride and Groom or as a discount for all your guests. Good luck!

Update: We have a new TA on the job and I have good faith in her abilities. I told her what we wanted and she assured me that it is totally reasonable!! Thanks ladies for all the great advice. I hope we can book something soon
