  1. Wow...everything looks amazing...I'm so excited for you!!! Please give the girls in the wedding office a big squeeze from us : ) You will LOVE that palapa space...hope it's everything you've dreamed about! Janelle & Todd
  2. I don't think so...but if you go to Michaels and take one in (and know someone with decent handwriting)...ask them what they would recommend for a paint pen and try it yourself! Believe me, I wish I had done that over wasting money to buy personalized ones off Etsy!
  3. I saw those little red dresses on sale on the HBC website...they're so much cuter on/in person than the picture online! That's a great find : )
  4. This was as close as I could find to my Jai #9909 dress on a model: And this was me in it! The bridal store owner suggested I cut the dress to floor length and leave the overlay...it was so beautiful and added a bit more drama as I did not want to wear a veil. If I could offer one piece of advice, it would be this...go to a bridal shop where they will allow you to take photos of yourself in the dresses to really determine what the best colour is for your skin. I was going along thinking I could do white or off-white...my friends were saying "yaaah, you could do white or off-white"...but when I saw myself in white in a photo I knew right away that off-white was better for me!
  5. Just a couple of photos for whoever was asking about appies provided for cocktail hour. This is what was put out for 32 guests...to give you an idea of quantity. It was included in our package. I don't know in the end how much of the tray was eaten...this happened when we went off to take photos. And a pro photo of the flowers that decorated the bamboo wedding arch and table (also included in our "presidential" package):
  6. Whoa!!! I just got caught up now! I'm so thrilled for you guys...looks like a beautiful sunny day...a big CONGRATS to you both : )
  7. Any brides out there needing to do a MASSIVE printing of 4 X 6 photos like we do? We're doing albums of our pro photos for those friends and family who came to Mexico...40 sleeves/album...to hand out at our AHR! Blacks currently has a great offer...prepay (instore) $99.99 for 1000 photos...they send you home with a USB to load your pics on...you have until the end of April to get them printed. But the offer expires March 29th!!! I'll attach the link just in case I didn't get all the details right! : ) http://www.blacks.ca/User/feeds/feature/id/5156
  8. Haahaa...no, we didn't get a cake on that trip to Mexico!
  9. That's an awesome offer Kristee...hopefully she sees it! I thought it was bad enough that I could never get TBC to respond to my request for a custom birthday cake...
  10. My TTD dress was very similar and this is what I went with...
  11. Wow-wee girl...AWESOME!!! : ) Love all the pinks... You looked absolutely stunning in your dress!!!
  12. If there is anyone interested in the meal, flower, decor "catalogues" that the resort sent to me this January, please "PM" me with your e-mail address. But just keep in mind that they'd be for reference purposes only...pricing and availability may change.
  13. I don't know that the accessibility regulations are the same in Mexico as they are here, but there certainly are elevators and ramps throughout the resort and there was a fellow in a wheelchair getting around quite well the week we were there. We were concerned about my FI's aunt who had a stroke a few years back...she walks with a cane due to her one-sided weakness...SHE would have had a tougher time at the GS due to the slippery tiles and some of the rougher walkways. She didn't end up coming to the wedding.
  14. Awww, it was great to read this Miss Annette...now Mrs. Annette!!! : ) We looked for you while we were there, but half the time I didn't recognize my own family wearing hats, sunglasses, etc. Glad to hear all went well! J~
  15. I spent a lot of time attempting to compare AT's wedding packages with what the resort offered and I just felt that purchasing the package from the resort was much more "transparent". I talked to the WP at the GS as well about this (after the fact) and she said often the issue is that couples are not aware that the AT package doesn't include this, this and this...for example...and the cost to get everything they want goes up quite quickly. It's very difficult I agree. You have the potential to have a very large group from the looks of things...which can definitely work in your favour when it comes to incentives from charter companies.
  16. With my bouquet, I didn't want to take any chances...so in my list of flowers NOT to use for our wedding, I included the following line: "no flowers artificially coloured, sprayed or tinted"... That being said, last summer my cousin requested a pink rose bouquet for her wedding and the florist didn't get the right roses in...so they sprayed her bouquet pink. Had she not told me, I would have never known.
  17. Oh my...that is VERY interesting. I'm super curious how you found that out! My first thought is that it was pulled from online somewhere...but did it come directly from your photographer?
  18. You're welcome...if you other questions, just ask...I'll try my best while it's fresh in my memory. I was just looking at the spreadsheet from the resort re: some of our other costs: 792 pesos for 2 mothers' corsages 200 pesos for my dad's bout 200 pesos for rose petals for flower girl 600 pesos each for our fresh floral centerpieces (we provided the glass vases) the kids meals at the palapa reception were free as were the first 10 surf n turf...after that we paid 800 pesos/person for surf n turf and 500 pesos per person for other entree items
  19. I think it's fabulous! Your waist looks so tiny in it. The first dress I ordered was beachy and flowy...and it ended up being my "TTD" dress. I couldn't put my finger on it, but I just wasn't happy with that dress as my "wedding" dress. So it was back to the drawing board and I found another that was fitted and gave me curves. Your dress is beautiful and fits you PERFECTLY!
  20. Haahaaa...I was trying to figure out how to describe it...kind of a schlup, schlup, schlup maybe?!?
  21. I avoided that style...because I wanted the stability for walking in the sand/posing along the rocky shoreline at the resort for pictures. Plus sometimes those shoes make a very unattractive sound as you walk...especially if your feet get a little sweaty.
  22. I spotted these on the bhldn website the other day...but they don't come cheap!
  23. Oh yes, the canapes. We have this priceless photo of my 8 year old nephew biting into what he thinks is a blackberry on a small piece of toast and it's actually caviar...he has this look of horror on his face. I hate seafood/pate/fois gras and I had seen a picture of the canapes from a previous bride...and in the back of my head I thought, "I should ask if there are any other options"...but totally forgot. So, after the ceremony we had a quick glass of champagne and started into group photos right away. When we went off to take pics on our own, the guests continued with the champagne and helped themselves to the canapes. We were only gone around 90 minutes, but knowing that people would be getting hungry, we provided Elizabeth with snack packs of nuts, Pringles, etc. (the nuts were brought from home - Costco and the rest purchased at Wal-Mart in Playa) to put out in baskets on the tables to have with their drinks. In the end, I think we paid for an extra hour or two of bar service, but it was for the best. We also had games out on the tables...decks of cards, Scrabble flash, etc. and one of my friends took care of facilitating our guest book/instant camera activity while we were away. I ran out of time, but my plan was to also prep some "mad gab" cards for guests to have fun with too. There was no way we were missing the Mariachi...so we made sure we were back at the site in time to see them...and they ended up playing us in.
  24. Oh, I know. I screwed it up too when, at our open house two months before the wedding, I put ALL of the options down on a piece of paper for people to sign up for. Then, I got an e-mail from Aracely that said because at the palapa they set up a mobile kitchen, it is very difficult to be able to successfully execute that many entrees and have the service run as smoothly and quickly as it could if your entrees were limited. I totally got that and it was my bad to offer ALL options to our guests. Yet, on the other hand, it is completely unnecessary for an expensive meal to go to a child when what they would rather have is a burger or nuggets...and what about the vegetarians in the group??? When we got to the resort though and sat down with Elizabeth, there were absolutely no issues...she gave us a choice of options for the kids...and it wasn't an issue for us to have the steak and lobster and salmon. Keep it simple on your end...but they also have to realize that it's totally unreasonable for ALL of the guests to be served ONE option. The response I got via e-mail was always "I'll check with the chef"...but when we got there we worked it all out. On a side note, we asked that our salmon simply be grilled and not smothered in a clam sauce which was indicated on their menu. I haven't read any reviews about this combo...and I'm not a seafood lover...but to me this didn't really "go". Those guests that had the grilled salmon were very happy.
