Capecodder - I bought mine from ebay too - If I remember, 50 of them...vertical, with the clear zip up...were around $20 total. And they did come really fast. Camy47 - WHOA!! How did your wedding sneak up so fast? Ahhhh...the joys of hemming...my FI just put on his brand new Italian suit (work uniform) this morning which he had his mother hem the pants of, and I didn't have the heart to tell him that she hemmed them too short...but they totally were. Ughhhh!!!!

How much do we tip the wedding coordinator?
MJKH replied to Michey's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
My wedding package is $5000 thru our all-inclusive resort in the Mayan Riviera and I plan to tip the WC $100-$200 if all goes well (or REALLY well)! -
OMG...I had to smile when I read the part about "get upset, then get over it"! When I first got word early on (from my Mom via e-mail) that my brother wasn't really on board, I got sooooo upset, I put myself into a "time out" for the weekend (i.e., didn't talk to any family as I was worried I would say something I would really regret later on). My FI was so great...but I was sad/disappointed/crushed...and I told him "I just need to be MAD right now...but I'll get over it!" And honestly, if there is one thing I think we've done right, it's NOT have any adults in our bridal party...'cause if I had to deal with all of that drama as well, I'd go nutty! We need to have 4 witnesses sign with us, and we'll figure out soon who we'll ask. But they'll just pop out of their chairs when the time comes during the ceremony, and that's it. My BFF (also my FI's cousin) has kinda declared herself the assistant to the WC and will help out with whatever we need her to. Thanks for the advice and encouragement!

My situation is going to be interesting then, because we're bringing in an outside photographer, but part of our agreement with them is that they stay at the resort overnight (we're paying for their room) and we do the TTD the next morning. SOOOOO, I'm hoping that we don't have to pay the daily entrance fee for both of them AND we don't have to pay the $300 penalty as well because they are staying the night. But, who knows?!?

Ughhh...TLS, that sucks! We've had nothing major like that, but I'm holding my breath (and holding off on doing welcome bags) until after the Dec 1st deadline for final payments. I don't think we'll have anyone drop out...but my brother has yet to even express an interest or desire to come (money is NOT the issue...apparently his boys' hockey games are)...and when I do talk to him the subject doesn't even come up...so I have no idea where we're at with them. It's just the ever growing list of things/people I'm kinda disappointed in...and like how I just had to spend another $100 on pashminas for the ladies 'cause I must have been having a small stroke the last time I was ordering. I ordered 2 - 3 of a whole bunch of colours without sticking to our reception colours which was crazy. I'll have to sell the others on Kijiji now. And I continue to go back and forth on whether or not to carry ALL of the welcome bag stuff with us to the resort or hand them out at our Christmas open house for all of those coming with us. I think honestly that is the most stressful decision I've had to make I have yet to make in this whole process!!! Oh, and I still have 20 pounds to lose in 98 days...no stress there or anything!!!! But, we're healthy, happy, very much in love and so excited to be getting married...and that's what we need to focus on, right?!? ; )

So, just got a HUGE box of 5 orders worth from Vistaprint. Here's my one comment...I am sooooo happy I spent a little extra money to upgrade the business cards to a glossy finish with a solid coloured back (we'll be tying these to the flip-flops and writing the sizes on...as well we are tying them on to the maracas with the guests' names on them instead of placecards). It's amazing how much better they look (and how much richer!). Another favourite...the personalized cards with envelopes I did up to write my shower thank-yous...and the calendar magnets that will be included with each thank you that have our wedding date on them.

Eeeep! Go Janet...can't wait to hear all about it. I just told me honey about an hour ago "Guess what...100 days from right now we'll be getting married!!!" Scary how fast the time is flying... TLS...how's the planning slump going? I think I'm in a slump + crazy busy with other aspects of life = rest of the wedding stuff will have to wait until after my shower next weekend.

That's so great...sounds like your wedding was amazing!!!! : ) Would you be okay to post some pics in this thread for everyone to see? If not, that's totally fine too...but I will send you my e-mail address 'cause I'd love to see them! So, it sounds like you didn't use the resort photographer...were they around your wedding at all or was it a big issue to keep them away? Could you have swapped the photog out for a videographer...or had the photographer come to rehearsal dinner instead? I thought I read somewhere that they are trying to limit the weddings to one per day at the resort...was/is this the case do you know??

Post your bouquet and inspiration pics here

Agreed...but I won't have any direct contact with the florist (I don't even know who does the flowers at this resort)...the flowers are included in the package we're purchasing and the WP just takes the order and places it. I've been told to select from the "menu" that they've provided, or send/bring my photos. That's why I'm taking the approach, "this is what I like/this is what I don't like...here are some photos/I'd be happy with anything along this line". -

Well, the first thing I did was to figure out which flowers I loved and which flowers to put on my "please do not use" list. I know I want a round, hand tied, multi-pink bouquet of assorted flowers. I googled every possible way you could describe what I have in my head...by colour, flower type, etc...clicked on "images" and scrolled...and scrolled...and scrolled...for what must be a combined total of 12 days (it seems!)...and I'm close, but I wish I had ONE perfect inspiration photo to hand over. Maybe it's better though to hand over 3 or 4 and say, "this is kinda what I'm looking for...I would be happy with something along this line, so go to it!". I plan to send my top picks to the WP about 6 weeks ahead of time...whether or not they get shared with the florist is another thing I guess. But I thought if the florist saw the inspiration pics ahead of time, they could place their flower order appropriately. -

Oooo...well, I'm not a gambler, and I'm picky, so I've been googling images of bridal bouquets for the last 8 months! I hope to narrow it down to 3 or 4 "inspiration" photos for the WC to hand over to the florist. It's just that things can get lost in translation...and what I would describe in words may not necessarily be what pops into the head of the florist. -
Show off your shoes....
MJKH replied to twinkletoes's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Hey you Badgley wearing girls...do you find their shoes fit more on the narrow side? I tried the Dylan shoe on once and it was so narrow I couldn't get my foot in it. I'm scared to even try and order another for fear of having the same issue. -
Have any of you looked at the Tommy Bahama website recently for sandals or dresses? They have SUPER cute sparkly sandals, some with a bit of a wedge to the heel...but, be warned, they are a bit on the pricey side. Beautiful sundresses too in all kinds of colours, including white. And, they ship to Canada. Just another option... http://www.tommybahama.com/TBG/Women/Sandals.jsp

Well, my trips to Dollarama are now fewer and far between...I did want to share this find though, as some of the brides on BDW have mentioned that their guests appreciated cleaning cloths for sunglasses and cameras. The brand name caught my eye because I'm sure they're a high end company that makes camera lenses. Anyway, 50 pre-moistened cloths were $2...the back of the box says, convenient cleaning of: prescription eyeglasses scopes and binoculars anti-reflective Zeiss ET coatings sun and sport lenses computer screens safety and sport goggles camera lenses They had them hanging in the area where the luggage tags and camera bags are sold.

I believe this is who you're looking for! See the details about how they take orders on Sunday evenings until they're sold out (some weeks they go really quickly)...and order early as they take 8 - 10 weeks. http://www.LilaFrancesDesigns.com https://www.facebook.com/LilaFrancesDesigns http://www.etsy.com/shop/lilafrances -
Casey, I read it thru again...the part at the beginning that says "many of you have given them much happiness"...personally I would take the "many of" part out, and just say to the collective group "YOU have given them much happiness..." When I read it again, I kinda chuckled to myself because I wondered who in the group hasn't given you much happiness...which I'm pretty sure you don't mean to say!

Ohhh I really love it : ) My FI and I have always had a "thing" for seeking out special stones when we're on holidays...on our first camping trip together we found a flat stone that looks exactly like a piece of whole wheat bread (which he LOVES). We keep it in the kitchen and I don't know how many times I've had to tell my little niece that she can't have the stone because it's special to auntie!!! I really want to incorporate something like what you're doing into our ceremony! Thanks for sharing... J~

Oh, I agree...now is the time to do your homework and look at all options. We were planning to go with Marlin Travel as they give airmiles and those could really add up when it comes to booking a holiday for a family of four! But we didn't feel we were getting great customer service from their most senior agent, so we switched to another local agency and a woman that specializes in/loves to plan destination weddings. She really went to bat for us when we got screwed by Transat Holidays (we picked the EXACT week we wanted to go, then Transat tells us they're flying Friday to Friday instead of Sunday to Sunday from our city...which meant people would have had to take an extra day off work, and because of the waiting period to marry in Mexico, people would have been flying out the morning after the wedding...SORRY, not having that!). She got everything priced matched...and got us a better deal in the end actually. She is NOT afraid to pick up the phone and call the resort/wedding planner for us. And personally, I like being able to drop by and sit down across from her when I need to to hash things out. My brain processes information better that way ; ) Our guests were also welcome to connect with their own agent or book online. One couple out of 15 ended up doing that. We just didn't get the credit for their bookings (with our agent/tour operator, for every 10 adults that booked, the 11th one was free).
