  1. Ok, here's the lowdown...need some advice: mid-July of this year - ordered a Barijay dress for my FI's 17 year old daughter from "Store A" - was told it would take 3 - 4 months - dress still not in. mid-August - ordered a Barijay dress for my reception, paid extra to "RUSH" - from "Store A" - dress is still not in. mid-August - ordered two Bill Levkoff bridesmaid dresses from "Store B" - one in white and one in off white for me - white is the wedding dress, off white may be for TTD or AHR next May - neither dress is in. Like honestly, at what point do I need to panic and find a plan "B"? 7 weeks from this Sunday we leave for our wedding!!! I called "Store A" last week about FI's daughter's dress and was basically told "don't call us, we'll call you."
  2. I have a question for all of you now-married ladies...when presenting your inspiration photos to a florist for your bouquet, do you think less is more? I have 5 or 6 pictures I could show of similar bouquets (round, hand-tied, mixed flowers all in a variety of pinks), but I'm worried that more options may complicate the issue.
  3. I hear you Amanda! Gee, that lush vegetation and beautiful tiled fountain in your picture has me drooling...
  4. Yaaay...so excited for you!!! I know it will be AMAZING...can't wait to hear all about it : ) Safe travels! Janelle
  5. Ok, so I didn't want to be the one to say it first, but I thought the calla bouquet they did was quite beautiful. To me, it's two totally different bouquets though...your inspiration photo is handcrafted and funky...the callas look like were made with pieces of felt or felted wool. I would think your inspiration bouquet wouldn't be a run-of-the-mill florists' bouquet...more like a custom design off etsy. And what you got was a very classical style fresh flower arrangement, no? Regardless, if you showed them the picture and they said they could do it, they should have done it! Sorry it didn't work out the way you wanted : (
  6. P.S., Anyone getting married in Hawaii...how cute is the passport stamp below!?! Love it : )
  7. Ginger from beyonddesign (etsy) did our wedding invites and, although it had nothing to do with our invites, I asked her if she would do a passport stamp for Mexico (with our names and wedding date on it) that looked like it had been used a million times. I think if you type "Mexico Passport Stamp" into google it should pop up as an vector.
  8. Thanks girls! I tried Powerpoint again, but when printing it decided that I wasn't happy with the quality of the photos coming off my printer. So, I think I'll have to save them and take the memory stick to Staples or something. I've popped on to pinterest...lots of great photos/ideas!
  9. HELP! I continue to struggle with creating inspiration boards for my resort wedding planner and vendors...I want to do one for hair, makeup, centerpieces, bouquets, bouts and corsages, and the cake. This SHOULD be an incredibly easy task given that I have all of the photos in a file on my iMac. All I want to do is create an 8 X 10-ish sheet of various sized empty boxes and drag the inspiration photos into each box. What is the best/easiest way to do this?
  10. Wow...that's exactly what I thought of when I saw it...a modern day version of Diana's ring. He did GOOOOOD!
  11. Wow...I just found your thread...you are one crafty girl! I would totally be interested in your Caramilk template if you're willing to share...that's my FI's favourite treat and I'd love to put them in the goodie bags at the resort!
  12. Ummm...mine would be to maintain my sanity thru the holiday season and the final weeks leading up to our DW! ; )
  13. Passport-style information booklets are done and ready for distribution this weekend. Our page headings were: "Before We Go" "Remember To Bring" "Day of Departure" "At the Cancun Airport" "Resort Information" "Resort Dining" "Local Area Information" "Local Transportation Information" "Money Matters" "Notes" (Blank/Last Page) The passport covers are from Michaels (purchased this last summer)...the cardstock paper covers are Vistaprint oversized postcards with a saturated pink (reverse) side. About 1 inch was trimmed off the left side of the card to fit the cover...then the corners were clipped. I'm not going to lie...as helpful as some of the examples were that I found here on BDW, the formatting of the booklet was a nightmare. But neither my FI nor I are stellar when it comes to the world of computers. I attempted to put some clip art in here and there, but eventually gave up : (
  14. I love the idea of the swim suit soap from LVER...I'm going to to go tomorrow and see if I can find some here!
  15. Hi...our wedding is the first week of Feb, and our AHR is booked for the last weekend in May. It will be a BIG Sunday brunch with breakfast foods only at my request (my favourites!)...mimosas, bennies, stuffed french toast, bacon, ham, chorizo, hashbrowns, fresh fruit platters, cinnamon buns...you name it! We didn't want to worry about a dance or a bar (my side of the family is more conservative...mentally and financially I just didn't even want to attempt an evening reception). Timing-wise, I wanted to allow plenty of time for the photographer to get our DVD done so that we could show it...we wanted (hopefully!) for it to be warm enough out for people to not have to drive in iffy winter weather and also so that my parents could host a bbq for our side of the family the night before. But we also wanted it early enough that we didn't intrude on anyone's camping/summer plans (which is also why we avoided the long weekend in May).
  16. So last night's project was the flip-flop basket. I moved our DW stuff all up from the basement to the office in the afternoon and felt overwhelmed by the amount to pack. Decided to put the flip-flop basket out next weekend with the wedding survival bags when everyone is here for the open house. That way, ladies will take them if they will use them and can enjoy them the entire week they are in Mexico. The flip-flops are from Old Navy (metallic silver, bronze and pearl...which btw are still available on their website!). A little part of me wants to challenge the ladies to a "who can best bedazzle their flip-flops" contest...but I think at this time of the year, people have enough to do! ; ) The tags are Vistaprint business cards (printed a slightly different way with our departure monogram), trimmed slightly, corners rounded with a punch...tied on with pink raffia.
  17. In Saskatoon...p.s., this whole paying thru your e-mail address is totally foreign to me...would I set that up with my bank (TD)?
  18. Ok ok...I'll keep working on stuff here and post some pics and a list by the end of the night. Are you in Regina? I could very easily get stuff to you my dear! ; )
  19. I just found the package from my bags and they were indeed 8 X 10...and, like I said, the oversize postcards printed the long way and folded in half fit perfectly on top.
  20. Girls, I need some help... I'm just in the process of sorting and organizing wedding stuff...and I already have a stack of stuff to sell that I won't be using. I'm thinking I'll start local and put stuff up on Kijiji. But if I put stuff up for sale on BDW, what is the easiest way to move funds from buyer to seller here in Canada. I don't want to do anything where there would be additional costs for me or the buyer. I would just like to recoup my $ + shipping costs.
  21. Oh wow...every time one of you posts a message like this, my first thought is "another one bites the dust"...heehee! ; ) And my turn is coming...two months from today is our wedding day! Seriously though, have a fantastic holiday and a beautiful wedding...we will be thinking about you and anxiously waiting to hear/see how everything went!
  22. This is the frame I picked out last night (from the Bay here in Canada) for the little sign on the table to our guests about the book. I loved that it was shiny like the engraved plate, and the wave pattern of the frame mimics my wedding ring:
