  2. Hello July 2012 brides!! At one point in this month we will all hit our one year mark!!! So exciting! Time is flying by! Hope evryones planning is going well! : )
  3. Wow...this is a tough situation. However in the long run it is up to the two of you and you alone! When we first decided to go back to Mexico where we got engaged for our wedding we decided to brace ourselves for the worst we sat down and thought if we do this there is a chance it could be just the two of us at are wedding would we be okay with this? And our answer was YES because this day is about the two of you and no one else. Your going to get those family memebers that say well why not here or there to which our answer has become because its our wedding not.yours! Stand your ground maybe sit down with you fi and talk about how its about.you two and no one else. Since we have done this we have had no problems with guests particularlly family memebers complaining. And we seems to have an ever growing guest list WAY more than we ever expect. If his family wants to be.there they will be there sheathed if its where they want to be or not! Just ignore all the negative and remind them who this is about! : )
  4. I am using a TA who is extremely helpful, but I have done a lot of communicating with the resort myself. I am getting married at the riu caribe in cancun but the way the riu hotels run weddings anywhere is very similar because they are one large corporation. My weddingis july 28th 2012. And we booked our wedding in march of 2011 no problem well over a year in advance. I am very curious about every little detail of my wedding so of course I kept asking questions from the day I booked and I am yet to stop. Here's a little bit of information you may find helpful. Yes. Your wedding coordinator will contact you about one to two months prior to your wedding, but if your anything like me you can get in contact with her well before that. For example I have been talking with her and getting questions answered by her personally since may of 2011. Everything at a riu wedding is coordinated by MISE operations department. Meaning the people you are emailing with when putting in your wedding request etc. (Most likely who you are talking with now unless you are at your two mounth mark) are simply general customer service agents in general for riu weddings. This is not the person who you will be working with at our particular resort. If you request to have your personal wedding coordinators email they will provide you with her name and contact information just ask. I have been able to find out a lot more little details about my wedding which I would other wise probably not know about until we arrived. For example my lastest email inquired about corking fees for bring in your own champagne. If you have any further questions please feel free to let me know! Hope this helps!
  5. Oh no!! This happened to a friend of mine too! She had hers reset to white gold and has had no problems since!
  6. These are all so funny!! Seriously this just made my day!
  7. So I am not sure if anyone can help me out. But im thinking most of the riu hotels have pretty similar costs fees etc. Because they are all part of one large corporate company. I can seem to get answers about certain things such as a welcome dinner what does it cost? Or a cocktail hour. What is the reception like? I have so many questions im just a tad worried. So if you are getting married or have already got married at any of the riu hotels and you could help me out and give me information based on your experience and knowledge I would be very greatful thanks ladies!
  8. These are great! PLUS. You'll.save money sending. A post card is almost half the price of a normal invite.
  9. We choose the Riu Caribe. Its all inclusive excellent food outstanding service. They might offer a complimentary wedding we chose the royal package 1600.00 usd. Its kid friendly even has a kids club. The beach is great, and its about 30 min from the airport. Plus there are two other rius and you can use all of their facilities as well!

  13. We don't have an exact schedule yet since our wedding is over a year away lol. I think ill put a tentative schedule up and I like the idea about suggested store! Hanks for the suggestions now time to get to work.
  14. I bought awesome fans from 123wrapper.com I had a daily deal for 15.00 for 30.00 worth of merchandise. In the long run 50 fans ended up costing around 30.00....which is not bad at all!! Here's the link the the exact ones I bought they will be on everyones chairs at the ceremony. http://123wrapper.com/White-Paper-Fans-P1596675.aspx
  15. I went with the medium for a few reasons. They will fit the guests plates better at the reception and although its not that much of a size difference I am keeping in mind I have to get all of this stuff down to Mexico. So re medium ones were the better choice for me.
  16. I like it!! Very unique. My family would definitely never go for this either.
