  1. ha ha- stunning seems to be the word with this dress! Thank you so much! I never thought id get a fitted gown being as 'curvy' as I am. But it actually makes me look a bit more slender i think! the designer is Sottero & Midgley
  2. thank you! I didnt even want to take it off. They put a cathedral veil on me - and i was amazed! The sparkle will be AMAZING when i hit the mexican sun! Can't wait to put it on again!
  3. AHHHHHH!!! Found my dress yesterdaaaaay!!! And my 1st day looking!! Ended up with something I NEVER thought I could pull off!!! Tis a bit small but I've ordered in my size...Hope you guys like!!!
  4. I'm staying at Tulum and getting married at Tulum beach. As much as i love the Akumal hammocks location I didnt want the hassle of getting allll the way over there (myself and my guests) Did your TA not put you in touch with your WC? Usually this should happen when you're confirming the wedding date and location. I've never phoned down there - Jazmin has always been pretty good at getting back to me. the Tulum WC email should be [email protected] Hope that helps!
  5. Ya..some are..I think the white and pink ones are included..but mine are the dark plum/purple ones and Jazmin quoted me a ridiculous price for my bouquet So I actually went and hired Maya Diseno Floral to do my flowers and I'm saving about $1000!!! yay
  6. As long as the flowers are in that brochure that your WC sends they'll be included. Expensive ones like orchids and calla lilies are going to be extra I actually think that Paloma is Jazmin's boss or supervisor - so you should be in good hands..tho i can't speak from experience - sorry
  7. OMG! sorry to be harsh here - and i know its easier said than done but u shud tell ur sister to shove it where the sun dont shine! Give me a break! This is YOUR wedding..NOT HER'S!...if she would rather spend the money on a couch than your special day then let her..and she'll be regretting everything when the day comes and everyone is gone to enjoy your day and she's at home miserable. Ive had a few people back out ..even lost their deposit..and even people who keep saying theyre coming and then change their minds. ive learned that whatever will be..will be...and ive got too many other things to worry about who will make it to my wedding. Don't shed any tears because they say you're selfish...you're allowed to be a little bit selfish for your wedding! Again - i know its easier said than done..but you can't let your sister get to you otherwise she'll ruin your whole entire experience. You prob shud just sit her down and tell her that you wish more than anything she'd make efforts to come but if she's so against it you'll understand her not being there. Or something like that. Chin up - it will all work itself out!
  8. Andrea - Here's what I'm using... Bridal party walking in: Hans Zimmer - True Romance Bride walking in: Train - Marry Me Signing : Jason Mraz & Colbie Caillat Lucky, + Jason Mraz I'm yours End of ceremony: Don Omar & Lucenzo - Danza Kuduro
  9. Thanks Tlseege - so what would you suggest with regards to the mariachi band? should we wait until after we've had the toast and group pics and send everyone to the Tulum lobby to hear them while they drink?
  10. Hiya all...question for the Tulum Beach brides...I'm told by Jazmin that my ceremony music is to be on a CD..(non-mp3 form)..which is fine...but does anyone know who 'man's' the music during the ceremony? Like do they literally just press 'play'..and 'stop'..or do they make efforts to fade the music out? I just don't want it to sound choppy..and i know there's really no way around it - especially if its still the middle of the song when it needs to be stopped - but would be nice if they at least tried to make it sound smooth Any suggestions? Oh! and have any of you had the mariachi band for after the ceremony? Did they start playing literally for the recessional? Just curious how others have co-ordinated in the past. I want the mariachi band for the champagne after the ceremony..but i haven't book an actual 'cocktail hour' or anything. I just figured everyone would head to the main lobby bar for drinks before dinner while we got pics done. But having said that..i want a giant group picture right after the ceremony before everyone dispurses so not sure how to co-ordinate that with the mariachi band either. Helllllp! Thanks!
  11. To my recollection the safe's are not big enough to hold a laptop...an ipad IF you're lucky...but i highly doubt it...
  12. Ooooo does my photographer need to bring any special paperwork? What's the visa paperwork you mentioned?
  13. Andrea - im in the same boat as you. I haven't told Jazmin that we have our own photographer and I'm still trying to decide if I'll even have arrecife there at all. ive hear stories that they can sometimes get in the way..and I rather not bother with them if they're going to make it difficult for my photographer to do his job.
  14. Check out Romantic Planet..theyve been AMAZING for ours so far! My signature below has the link i believe
  15. Welcome! Glad I was able to help. Andrea2006 - I was told by my WC that we could bring our iPod for the DJ so he'd play the songs we want. I've got my playlist in full-swing too!
  16. Hi Emily - congrats on your upcoming wedding! Sounds like you have everything in place! I think it will all be fantastic! As far as the Mayan Ceremony goes - I would just ask your WC - What I do know is that it's EXTREMELY long. So if you're not wanting everyone having to sit through a very long ceremony in the sun - I would suggest just keeping the regular ceremony. The Mayan ceremony is beautiful and very unique..but again..painfully long. You're call tho! Good luck!
  17. Congrats Sara! I'll bet Sol and Matt will be doing your photography! ha ha Are you choosing the Gran Bahia for your beach wedding?
  18. I'm not a past bride - I'll be getting married at the beach Tulum location in November so I can try and answer a couple things for you. I'm not sure about a walkway for you - I highly doubt they will..as its a long walk to the palapas where the ceremony takes place but you never know. Generally with Mexico..you can get pretty much anything done for you as long as you're willing to cough up the $ I do know that they offer a red carpet to walk on - so maybe that's an option for you. We all plan to be in barefeet for the ceremony and then i'll be putting my fancy heels on for pics and the reception! Your poolside reception will most likely be at the main pool. I believe you can have it at the private smaller diamond club pool if you request it . This was my original choice as I'm having my entire reception poolside (dinner and dance) - but my parents went down this past november and realized how nicely lit the main pool is. They have rope lights around the palapas and paper bags lit around the pool. So we decided to switch. I believe the bar is a makeshift one - If you look back to my posts around early-mid december there's a few pictures my parents took of a reception at the main pool. I'm only planning on having the cheapest alcohol package. Can't really answer on the documents question as we are only having a Symbolic ceremony. But if you are getting legally married in mexico - there are extra fees (bloodwork & translating documents) Hope that helps! But all in all - your WC should be able to answer all of these for you too!. So check with her also
  19. I agree! The OOT bags are more of a gesture of appreciation for them coming to your wedding. Other than the obvious reason of them spending the money to come..they've also taken time off work (likely) to come...hired babysitters (possibly)..or pet-sitters (possibly)... Granted they are getting a vacation out of it...but I had to remember that some of my guests aren't 'travel-people' and they're coming anyway. Sure they're probably bringing some of the stuff you will provide in the bag but the bags aren't entirely meant for their 'needs'...its just something nice to welcome them..and thank them! Especially if you include the 'Welcome letter'
  20. Good article! Ya...not sure about the rest of you but I'm having to calm a few of my guests down. Mostly the ones who have never been to Mexico before. Its soooo irritating because there's really no need to be worried. The media freaks everyone out for no reason!! There are risks EVERYWHERE you go! You think people are never going to book a cruise again after what happened in Italy? Course not! I'm not saying ignore the news but just learn from it and be smarter when you do go down to Mexico. You're not going to go wandering your city's downtown area all by yourself at 3am - why would you do that in Mexico? Its just common sense..and taking certain precautions
  21. Air Canada should be giving you the same type of deal that I got. I went to an AMA Destination Wedding Seminar and they practically gloated about Air Canada's free passenger program. I don't think its every 11th person but i know they have it for a different #. Bug your TA..it's worth a shot. Are you guys flying right from there? Or coming into Calgary? Check out my photog..he's amazing and the last time I talked to him..his only destination wedding this year so far is ours in November...Obviously I don't know the rest of his schedule but you never know
  22. Andrea - Tlseege is soooo right. Its not too late...again - not sure where you're coming from but I bet you any $ you can find someone to go. If you have a decent number of people in your group booking you should check in to see if you get any 'free' fares because you have 'X' amount of people booked. We're from Canada and booked with Sunquest..and with every 11th person booked we get a 'free' fare...so because we have 33 people coming we get 3 'free' so we're applying our photographers fare to one of the three. I just don't personally think 180 pics is going to be enough for you for the entire wedding day and TTD. But its your call - if its plenty for you then go for it.
