  1. uh oh! thats not good at all! Sorry to hear about that - I didn't think that was somehting you had to worry about down there Will you be able to get the money back?
  2. Does anyone have the current price/packages from Arrecife? If so - could you pls send to me? [email protected] Thankss!
  3. does anyone know if its possible to get these calla lilies in mexico? I know white and pink are easy - but not sure about the dark plum i dont care about the cost - i just want to know if they're possible??
  4. Ha ha - ya- i already replied to that one before i came here - ooops! Ya- I wish I had better experiences with Air Canada - as I learned about all their special upgrades etc at an AMA Dest Wedding seminar that i went to. I've heard that about Sunwing/Transat Holidays Hopefully Sunquest will be fine tho - i'm crossing fingers its a Westjet flight too We get a free flight for a certain # of passengers too - but i cant remember what the #'s were. We've got 31 people booked so far! I can't believe it! Wedding it like 1.5 yrs away and already sooo many have committed - we're totally stoked.
  5. Hiya KRama- ok - thanks! phew - i was a bit worried there - i didnt think it was so common to move people around the resorts We're booked through Sunquest - I told my TA to try and book through them as I really don't like Air Canada (no offense ) - and Sunquest will sometimes end up being a Westjet flight - which makes me mega happy. We got an awesome deal too! $1260/pp for Tulum! Our TA is Romantic Planet!
  6. I have not used them for a group booking but did use them in Jan 2010 for a week at the Gran Bahia Principe Tulum - and I will admit that I will NEVER use Air Canada again. No offense to those who like them - but for me EVERY time I've ever flown with them - they have messed up in some way or another. On top of the fact that their service on board has been way less than satisfactory compared to Westjet..and even Lufthansa. When we went to the Mayan last year - the flight left late...the flight attendants were quite curt most of the time...AND worst of all - they didn't come to pick us up from the resort to go home!! Claiming we cancelled the pick-up which we of course would never do. We had to take a taxi back and barely made it in time. So from this experience alone - I decided well ahead of time that i would not be using them again if I had a choice. We've booked with Sunquest for our wedding in the Mayan next year - and got an AWESOME group price too! Again- I mean no disrespect to those who favor Air Canada - Ive just ALWAYS had issues when flying with them.
  7. HI Ladies- reading a lot about people being moved to Akumal over their original bookings with Coba and/or Tulum What is up with this? Do you not get to stay at the hotel you booked at? I dont understand this whole 'First Choice' deal -? We've booked for Tulum for Nov 2012 - does this mean closer to the date I shoudnt be surprised if they try to move us?
  8. Hi Shay - If you have the opportunity to book and the price is right- I would go for it We've already booked for our Nov 2012 wedding!! and we got an amazing deal! We also had to ditch one TA for another because she was out of town and didn't get us great rates.
  9. Hi cdlillad - ya - trying it in Calgary wouldn't do much - as its very dry here However- I was just in Vegas last week and had it done for our engagement pictures and I actually thought it was nice - didn't feel caked on at all I think i will check out Sara Tamargo - does she have a website? Or on FB? the blotting papers is a good idea also - i dont have too many issues sweating - even have botox done for my underarms - i just know how humid it is down in Mexico and was worried about makeup running Im just glad its possible to bring in someone from the outside for makeup and hair - the resort seems such a stickler for outside photographers
  10. Thank you! I think this will be worth it - given the recent 'not so great' reviews of the spa/salon services! I've also been told that if I can find someone to do airbrushing makeup to spend the $ for it as its apparently VERY worth it considering the humidity down there Any one hear of this? or know a makeup artist who does this?
  11. Great review! sorry to hear about the bad experience at the Spa. I've heard that they don't do the greatest job...this concerns me a little. The only solutions I can think of is dishing out for a trial and/or the updo the day of the wedding.. OR Having an outside stylist and makeup artist come in?? Has anyone been able to do this? I know the hotel is very strict on outside vendors - but is that just for photography? Or ALL vendors? I've heard of others brides bringing in an outside stylist and makeup artist - but this was at other resorts.
  12. Whats this hammock location everyone speaks of ? does anyone have pics? I thought the only choices for ceremony outside was at the gazebo or down on the beach by the palapas?
  13. Not sure about websites in the UK but founds ALOT of sand ceremony sets at sandsationalsparkle.com
  14. I believe you have to bring your own which is probably best anyway as you can have the exact colors of sand you want
  15. yay! Sounds like we have a review or two coming our way - hopefully with some pics! Crystlz - I found a wicked website that has SO many things to buy! ive already got about $100 worth of stuff! and I remember there being some really cute cake toppers too www.sandsationalsparkle.com i think another bride posted this - but ya - TONNES of cute stuff on there!
  16. So does!!! Never thought I'd end up at this resort but now I'm glad we chose it - its really the price that made the decision but now I feel comfortable asking people to come - and experience a great resort for a great price!
  17. Wow ! Sounds like everything is coming together for you! Thats fantastic! Where are you having your reception? How were the flower options? I'm pretty sure what I want wont be a standard selection but thats ok i'll pay for it. Thats great that she worked your hair trial in there aswell. Some say the trials are the only 'included' hair you get and you have to pay again on the wedding day. Are you choosing to bring your fabric down because of cost? Or just to make sure you have what you want?
  18. BOOKED for the Gran Bahia Principe Tulum for November 2012!!! So excited!!! Can relax a bit now - phew!
  19. Sorry to be off topic here but we just booked for our 2012 wedding!!!! Sooooooooo excited!!! Yay!!
  20. I haven't seen any pics other than the gazebo ceremony - so ya - it would be nice to see what the options are for everything else. WE JUST BOOKED to this resort for our 2012 wedding! Not wedding date yet - but sooooo excited!!! I have a feeling once I'm put in touch with Jazmin - she'll be able to send me all the files to start choosing!! yay! But ya- in the meantime if anyone can post pics of the ceremony and reception set ups that would be great!
  21. Ya - I'll probably go with doing that - even if it costs an extra couple hundred $ - its worth it to have who I want for a photographer
