Ha ha- I think it was all the walking of the strip that kept it off - cuz I cheated in everyway possible! Even had one of those ginormous slushie drinks! Be prepared for your body to get a lil angry. Especially if its grease. I didn't notice any reprocussions from chocolate or bread..but grease - oh ya..mega bloating..gas..etc etc...lol Everyones different of course- but I know my body tells me 'oh no you di-int!' and makes me pay for it! lol Ya- Im not too big of a weights girl - but i dont mind doing situps..so i'll see if I throw some of that in- as soon as I get my walking down - i looooooove walking ha ha- i hear you on the clothes! I'm only 5'1 - so 13lbs is hugely noticeable with my clothes. My belt is 3 holes smaller! yay! And ya - i have half a closet full of size 6's and 8's...that are just glaring at me - saying get rid of those size 10's and 12's! I think we have an opportunity on Friday during our Stampede Parade - which kicks off the Calgary Stampede - 'Greatest outdoor show on earth' - not sure if you've heard of it..but its a big deal here. People come from all over the world for these 10days. But ya- I'm not going to bother going to see them - it's going to be insane with the amount of people. I'm not a crowd person..ha ha - probably just watch it on TV
-
Thats a great idea - you'll have to let me know if it does speed things up. Ya- I hate to say thats what knocked me off the horse the first time...but instead of home it was Vegas..lol Kinda hard to be so strict when you're on holidays and trying to have a good time also. The one good piece of advice my girlfriend told me is that if you have to cheat..so be it..but try to counteract it with some protein and exercise and water..and you should be fine. Maybe use me as an example - I've cheated but I haven't gained. So if you're ok with not losing anything that week - then dont' worry too much about cheating. As long as you dont go hog wild you should be fine. When you get back home - just do a few days of solid protein to get back on track and just pick up where you left off. Ya..gotta get 'the dress' in my mind..the more i think about it and how crappy i'll look if i stay the way i am - the more motivated I get. They are in Canada this week! And they'll be in my city on Thursday apparently ! Very cool

hah a- yes- Carbs are the definite enemy! Ya- Jello pudding is fantastic! the comments definitely keep the motivation up! I even got some this weekend when we were camping..so thats good..but than I almost feel guilty getting them because i know i should be down another 10lbs by now! Engagement session is a BIG motivator. We had one back in April and it turned out crappy so we actually get a 2nd chance with our new photographer that we hired for the wedding. We'll probably do it this fall too. Not only that..I need to start trying on dresses! Thats the whole reason i went on this diet - was the fast weight loss! And here I am sabatoging myself! Ugh - well - as long as I pull up my socks soon...theres no excuse now that its summer and i can get outside and walk!
-
Oh! ya - I'm amazed too on what types of carbs I do and Don't miss too! Obviously the bad ('good') stuff like chocolate! But i dont miss rice..or pasta at all! But my popcorn is the biggie. Oh my do i ever miss my popcorn. Bread is another toughy -but I dont die for it like popcorn.
-
ohhh! yay! FINALLY! Someone else is doing this! Congrats on your success! I unfortunately can't report the same I did SO good when I started...I'm down about 13lbs...but have been stagnant for over a month now because I keep cheating! Ugh! Everytime I turn around there's an event or dinner..or camping trip thats getting in my way! i know I need to just discipline myself better - but clearly thats my issue - or I wouldnt be on this diet to begin with! ha ha The ONLY good thing - is that i haven't gained any of it back. Just up and down 1-2 lbs. So frustrating..but ya - I gotta get back on track. Im thinking i'll just start over with the Attack Phase again - do a good solid week of pure protein and kick this weighloss back into full swing!

Post pics of your Wedding Cake!
Sunshine2680 replied to EricaG's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Wow! They pulled it off perfectly! Very Nice! -
Oh good! Glad to hear that! My flowers are going to be a bit particular so i want to make sure they'll be able to get them. I spoke to a florist in Playa Del Carmen and sent a picture of what I want and they replied that it shouldnt be a problem at all. So if they can get it - I'm sure the hotel can too. I'll just be sure to send her the pictures well ahead of time!
-
Awesome! Hope it all works for you! Let us know which resort you pick!

Beautiful wedding so far! So glad everything turned out (for the most part) for you. Looking VERY forward to more pictures! That sucks SO bad with the luggage and day passes! I'm extremely worried about how I'm going to get everything down there. I can't believe they required a pass per person entering the resort!! I wanted to have the Styling Trio for makeup and hair - but thats $270! Ouch Good to know about the flowers - I'll have to make sure I tell them what I want ahead of time. I wonder if you could order from outside the resort - and just have them delivered? Sooooo sorry to hear about all those that ditched out. I can't believe that. Do they think it didnt cost money? helloooooooo Thats unfortunate.
-
Oh Wow - I'm so sorry to hear about that. From what I've dealt with so far - she's been pretty good. Hopefully it stays that way - lol

Thanks for the reply! Ya - We're staying on the Tulum side - so there ceremony will either be on the beach or at the Gazebo - haven't decided where yet - im pretty torn between the two. What I would really like is to have a cocktail party for after the ceremony so people can enjoy a mariachi band..while we're off getting pictures done..Im thinking the Diamond Club pool (Tulum) would be great for this...and then have them set up to have the dinner and reception at the same pool. That way my guests aren't going back and forth and everything can be in the same place. I'm not sure how much that will all cost me - or if its even possible to do all that but I haven't been put in touch with any WC yet as its still so far away...even though we've already booked the travel dates. Even if we had the dinner portion at the Tequila restaurant (which is right in front of the gazebo) - that would be fine too and I'd save some money for the dinner portion. I guess I'll have to wait and see what my options are - once I finally get assigned a Wedding Coordinator

Thanks for all your info! Good to know I have to bring some stuff of my own. If I brought my own lanterns will they string them up? or do they have to come with string? rope? With regards to the dinner at Gran Tortuga - do you do any kind of decor there? I have about 31 guests so far (including bride & groom) - do you just seat people like you would at a regular wedding reception? or do they do just one big table? Did you find it was a pain to go eat at the restaurant and then move again out to the pool? Is that where you did all the speeches? So given your experience - would you just have gone with the DJ? Is there a way to have less drink restrictions at the pool side bar?
-
Hi Gals - previous Brides specifically - I know some have had colored lanterns for decoration at the reception I just would like to know if you brought your own down? or did the resort have them? I guess the same question goes for chair bows Im trying to figure out how much stuff I'm going to have to bring down myself (its getting to be a lot!! OOT bags..favors..lanterns...parasols/fans...bows..place setting cards..etc!) Not to mention the obvious things like dress..shoes etc! Can anyone give a list of the things they brought down? And did they have issues with overweight luggage?

We're booked at the Gran Bahia Principe Tulum My parents have stayed there about 8 times now...i went in 2010...great resort. Wasn't my 1st pick...originally I was going for Dreams Riviera Cancun...but when we got the price..we couldn't turn it down. I feel much better about asking my guests to pay $1200 for a resort i KNOW they'll like ...rather than pay $1700 on a resort none of us have been to..and it being a big gamble for everything - not just the wedding. Tulum is great..even though its a long drive from Cancun..once you're out there its all good. Plus its still only about 20-30 min from Playa Del Carmen so its just a quick trip if you still want to head in for some shopping. Xcaret..and XelHa are nearby too.

Amy Wood - she's pretty awesome - its still the beginning stages but she was able to pull off a decent price for me and my guests. Most group booking quotes I was getting were up and around $1700+ tax pp - which is absolutely ridiculous. Ive been to Mexico 6 times now and i've never paid that much. But she worked her magic somehow and got us $1200 pp - plus the free upgrade We were able to get 30 people booked - 20 months in advance! Never expected that. We of course made it clear to our guests that there was no pressure to book with the group. But its nice having the peace of mind that we'll all be together on the same flight...and our rooms should be roughly in the same vicinity too! Plus - if anything nasty were to happen..like hurricane..or explosion..and we need to change resorts..we're all included in that..whereas those who aren't in the group booking aren't. Its a gamble for sure. I'm almost positive there will be prices cheaper than $1200 - but some aren't willing to wait last minute to book. At least this way - its secured..and the best part is - we still get 1 price drop from now until we leave. So if the price does drop - we can get some money back for people!
