  1. Ya- Im bummed - but oh well. We can have floating ones in the pool which will be nice also i just wish our resort wasnt so strict about it. I was really wanting to have all my guests be able to release one at the reception - would have been sooo pretty.
  2. Congrats! Gazebo will be awesome!! My wedding is Nov 2012 - but i won't be using Arrecife - I'm bringing my own from home. Just getting much more value for my money that way. But personally if I was using them - i woudl definitely pay for the dinner/reception. You will probably want some nice pics of your first dance and cake cutting! I've eated at Gran tortuga on previous holiday and i thought it was great. Food was really good and there's plenty to choose from. I believe they had some side dishes up at the salad bar too (rice etc) - so don't worry your guests should be plenty full. The green/red card is just to tell the server if you're wanting them to come around with more meat on the swords or if your done. i agree 100% about Jazmin! My wedding is 400+ days away and she's still taking the time to reply to my questions. I honestly didn't expect much from her till next year. Soooo nice to have a WC who is on top of things!
  3. Hi Gals - just a couple questions Does anyone have prices for hair and makeup with the salon (Tulum)? Also - whats the lo-down on DJ? I see there aren't any DJ services included in the wedding packages Does the resort have their own that you hire for extra $? Or do most bring one in from the outside? Thanks!
  4. Looks awesome! Thanks for sharing! Can't wait to see more pics! I've just been told I'm not allowed lanterns as there is too much of a fire risk with the palapas on the beach
  5. And the Canadian airline will let you bring them also? I know there's a thread on here just about the lanterns and some have said they won't let you bring them on board
  6. Oooooooooo I soooo want to! but i haven't cleared them with my resort yet! Did yours say they were fine to use? Are they biodegradable?
  7. She used Scriptina Pro and Bernard Fashion I was able recreate it for ours - luckily we have the same wedding colors!
  8. I'm hoping to have my entire reception at the Tulum pool - not sure which one tho. I've seen them have it at the main pool but I've also seen them set up at the private Diamond Club pool too. Tho - I think you have to be in the Diamond club to have it there - but I'm not 100% I'm hoping someone else on here has some info on it. I've been told you can do whatever you want as long as you're willing to pay. Not too sure about the drink package tho.
  9. Hi everyone - just a question towards past brides who opted to do their ENTIRE reception (dinner included) poolside - I was wondering what the cost per head was.??? Any info would be great! Thanks!
  10. I just did the same thing! Bought shoes for $450CAD!! and then decided to have the ceremony on the beach (Tulum) Thats ok - I'll just put them on afterwards for pics and the reception. They won't go to waste if I have anything to do with it! I think the resort provides the material for the hammocks location at Akumal. Its white - and I'm not sure if they anything but that - even if you bring your own.
  11. Ya- maybe I'll have to try that - once i actually get to the cruise phase - lol I remember when i tried it the first time I had to tweak it a bit when going out with people cuz it does look kinda funny when ur just doing meat. throwing veggies in makes it look a bit more normal. So what does your unwich consist of?
  12. Yay! congrats again! good for you! You're still in the cruise phase right? are you just doing the 1 and 1? alternating everyday? ya- you guys have so much more down there - it sucks bein in Canada sometimes
  13. lol - ya- good idea. I'll stick some tape around it i think for now till its time to re-size
  14. Its going not too bad - i've recouperated the few pounds I gained last week which is good - its still frustrating because I'm having lose these 4lbs twice over - but its my own fault i know. Ya- I'll try to make decent choices while there. If anything I may just sweat it off cuz it will be so hot! LOL ohhh i love when pants slide off! Right now - my engagement ring is actually starting to slide off pretty easy. I'll have to get it sized soon - but I may aswell lose more weight first!
  15. AHHHHHHHHHHH! CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Wow - now if that isn't motivation i dont know what is!! I've been back on the full- protein this week and its been a tough go. Soooo hard to stay on track and be motivated - especially when we're headed to Vegas on monday -ugh - which will be next to impossible to stay on track. I'm soooo happy for you tho! I'll bet you feel amazing!
  16. Hi gals! Has anyone heard of other brides doing this at their reception? I found a thread on here and some were saying they were going to look into it - depending on the resort but was wondering if any Bahia Brides inquired about this? I thought it would be awesome to do at our reception. Im looking into the biodegradable ones so we don't hurt the environment. But there may also be red tape for flying with these too. Any info would be great!
  17. Love LOVE this idea! I think that as long as you get the biodegradable ones and send them off on the beach...they should burn out on their own...over the ocean. As long as the resort approves - I'll look into this Anyone know which resorts in the Mayan approves this?
  18. Hmmm - you're makin me think now. I do remember him saying something about avoiding fatty pork..like bacon...but as long as its lean it should be fine. I do know I used pork tenderloin during my attack phase where I lost my 9.7lbs...so ya - I think if you just avoid the fatty cuts you should be ok. oooo that cheese sounds yummy. Thats been hard for me to avoid - I love cheese..and even though there's protein and no carbs - its still fatty Oh poop - I didn't think of that. Ya- if you could use something similar it should be good Try the teriyaki if you like it - I just mix some low sodium soy sauce...some ground ginger...granulated garlic and a tablespoon or so of Splenda...its sooooo goood!
  19. Ha ha - ya - Stampede is a big deal over here -our downtown just about shuts down for those 10 days...most have heard of it but not everyone. That is awesome the Jets are coming back - Canada could use another hockey team! Wow- ya- lol - I guess thats a bit of motivation for him to start. I think guys do well on Dukan because they love meat so much anyway. Yes - i anticipate I'll be trying some deep fried jelly-beans this weekend when we head down. I've heard there's deep fried Kool-Aid now! Geeze - where does it end?!? Glad to hear ur able to munch on the carrots instead of chocolate. Wish I had your will power - ha ha. I think next week i'm going to do 7 solid days of Protein next week to get back on track. It will be needed I think. lol - the radio has just reported that there's 3000 people waiting in line for wrist bands to see the Royal couple! unreal! Given that it's summer - ya - I'm grilling ALL the time..pretty much everyday. i'm usually doing burgers (homemade)...chicken breasts...fish (Basa fillets - so good!)...beef and pork tenderloin. It does get a bit old - but I've just found I try to season with different things each time. I came up with a Dukan friendly recipe for 'Teriyaki sauce'...and I've gone out and bought A LOT of different seasonings. But not going to lie - I do use my homemade BBQ sauce a fair bit too. I know he says no sauces..but honestly by the time its grilled - there's not a lot left on the meat. That way i'm not spraying the meat like crazy with PAM or Olive oil to prevent from sticking and i still get some flavor with it. My fave seasonings are Roasted Red pepper and Garlic...Parmesean and Herbs..and Montreal Steak Spice. Mrs.Dash has a lot of decent seasonings too and there's no added salt which makes us Dukaners happy! Oh! And a lil tip for burgers...I'm not sure if you make your own or not - but if you do - instead of using pure ground beef - I actually mix half extra lean ground beef and half ground pork. It makes them extra juicy!!
