  1. They're called badge holders i think But I actually returned mine back to Staples - because I was able to order them for MUCH cheaper online www.specialistid.com http://www.specialistid.com/ID_Badge_Holders_s/75.html i saved about $20 ordering from these guys (including shipping to Canada!)
  2. OMG! *HUGS* *HUGS* *HUGS* *HUGS* You poor thing! I can't even imagine how you're feeling right now. That is SO HORRIBLE!! I'm sorry but -even I'm getting emotionally effected by this! WTF is their problem?!?!!? Their behavior is completely inexcusable and though I realize its his family - he should still be standing up for you (more than he has been). I mean no disrespect to you or your FI - but if this were me..I woudl have done the same thing. Enough is enough. It totally sucks to have to make your FI make a choice between you and his family - but like what was said before..YOU are his future. YOU GUYS are not getting married for them! YOU ARE GETTING MARRIED FOR YOU. I'm sorry - but it seems A LOT of people have lost sight of this and now it's all come crashing down. Not gonna lie - I'm surprised also that he would even be upset with you at all. And now you're being forced to change all the plans? Does anyone else feel like this is the twilight zone??? I'm glad you two have reconciled and I'm certainly not going to poke my nose where it doesn't belong - but are you genuinely truly happy? I know you're stuck between a rock and hard place because you'll be faced with a lifetime of awkwardness and turmoil when it comes to his family - but at the same time..why should you have to sacrifice what YOU want for your wedding? Have you actually sat down..calmly...and discussed with your FI how you truly feel? I mean seriously - look what this whole thing has done to you! You're too scared to even check your voicemail! I'm sorry but there is something very wrong with this picture. Again - I don't want to disrespect you or your FI - I'm just someone who speaks her mind and I'm getting the feeling here that you're not a very happy bride-to-be. This is your wedding!! This is supposed to be one of the happiest periods in your life!! I honestly don't know how to tell you to move forward. But I think your 1st step should be to have a heart to heart with your FI. Maybe you guys can come to a compromise or something? Maybe not St.Lucia..but maybe not something right at home either. I dunno. Sorry - not sure what else to say..I feel so bad for you right now. Keep us posted though - Hopefully this will all work itself out somehow
  3. Hiiii ladies! Just to let you know I was at Michaels this weekend and they had glow bracelets on for $1.50 (15 in 1 tube!) - so got myself 3 tubes for under $5!!! Check it out if you can!
  4. Ya - so frustrating about video. I'm not even bothering to have one. I'm spending A LOT on my photographer and I know he'll capture some amazing moments..thats good enough for us. But everyones different. I'd try to lock in a price ASAP if I were you. Just keep your emails and they can't dispute them once you're there. Depends if you're getting legally married or not. If you're not - and just doing a symbolic ceremony - you only need to be there 2 business days before For legal I believe its 4 business days - but definitely not 5. Not sure where your TA is getting that from. Once your TA is in contact with Paloma from GBP - they will email you with the available wedding days - so I would just wait to hear from the WC. Thats what I did anyway. Not sure about the flowers - I got the pictures from Jazmin and dislike all of the bouquets. I will probably just end up emailing her what I want and asking her to quote me. If its ridiculous expensive I may go through a florist in PDC.
  5. They have a list of all the languages they provide booklets for on the website http://www.single-serving.com/phrase/status.php
  6. No prob! Any $$$ that can be saved when it comes to wedding planning is a blessing!
  7. Actually the link gives you the folding instructions - all you need is scissors - its great!
  8. Lol - I know right...i was in the middle of doing mine manually (ugh - was taking forever) and then my aunt reminded me of this site - we used it when we did our Mediterannean Cruise...its SO handy - especially when u needing a couple languages at your hand! And they're so cute and small! I just made a sample one..its perfect! I'll just attach it to our Welcome letter with a cute Brad or paperclip!
  9. Hi Ladies- not sure if anyone has posted already but thought it couldn't hurt... I'll be adding a mini Spanish phrase book to my OOTs and they're FREE!! http://www.single-serving.com/Spanish/phrase_booklet.php
  10. Sweet! Thanks so much for your reply! I found them packaged in 2's - for $1.50! Can't beat that! My FI says they won't even show up on the scanner cuz they're not metal - but I think these days just about anything shows
  11. Hey ladies - has anyone considered putting plastic toy water guns in their OOTS? I think it would be a fun add-in for pooltime..but not sure what the airport authorities will say when they see gun shapped objects come up on the scanner?
  12. oops! - forgot to attach a pic of all the mini stuff! So ya - anything from Advil..Tylenol..Pepto..Tums...Immodium..EmergenC..Insect repellant wipes...Antibiotic ointment...mini Aloe tubes...Mini Wet Ones..After bite wipes...etc
  13. Hi Ladies! I'm a newbie to this thread and FINALLY go through the last 80 pages to be up to speed (the best I could anyway - lol) GREAT info on here! I've only begun putting my OOTs together...so its great to see where everyone is shopping to get their stuff. I'm in Calgary so thank- you especially to the other Calgary Brides. Will share a couple sites of my own: Sooo - i will be using http://www.minimus.biz/ for all my mini advils...wipes..EmergenC etc etc The prices are AWESOME (eg. $0.39 per item for some!) - I'll attach a pic ***NOTE: They DO ship to Canada BUT its fairly expensive (depending on how much you order I think) - so this recommendation is more for Brides who have a contact in the US. I'm lucky enough to have one...so shipping to her will be FREE and then she'll just ship to me (for much less) and I just pay her back. Also - for badge holders and wrist coils - I ordered from http://www.specialistid.com Their badge holders (w/zip close) are only $.39 !! Be careful on this site - as SOME items have a minimum order of like 250 the clear badge holders had no minimum order Thanks again! Looking forward to sharing more ideas and info on here!
  14. Ya - we resigned ourselves to the fact that our cake will be kinda donkey. I just decided that I'll put a bunch of fresh flowers on it to pretty-it-up! lol And we'll make up for it when we have our 'Open house' at home..we'll go all out for the cake then I have heard through the grapevine that you can remove your bracelet for wedding day..but not confirmed 100%. Maybe email Jazmin and ask her. Not sure about all the guests but I know the bridal party shouldn't be an issue
  15. Don't know about the hors d'oeuvres - but if you're worried about money for dinner - don't be - because the standard is to have your dinner at one of the A la Carte restaurants (depending which resort you're at) - but its considered part of your 'All-Inclusive' option. Even if you have just your cocktail reception leading into the dance - you'll be paying for private bar service anyway..as well as DJ etc etc.
  16. Unfortunately what Jazmin sent you is what they offer. There's one more upgraded cake but all it is - is the round one with a 2nd tier ...Which I didnt think was too impressive so I asked about bringing in a cake from a bakery in PDC but Jazmin said no outside food is allowed into the resort because there's a chance it could give people food poisoning (i doubt it- but rules are rules) Thats why we opted to have individual desserts with our meals AND the upgraded wedding cake - so there's plenty for everyone
  17. stluciabound - I found my wording on this site somewhere. I think I was looking at the threads where people were posting pics of all their Boarding pass invites! There are a gazillion good ideas on there Plus a lot of people will post their templates too!
  18. Not sure about Akumal Side but for private poolside reception on the Tulum Side I've been quoted $3130 USD - for 3 hours (6:30-9:30) This includes Buffet dinner...open bar for 2 hours and 1 hr of special cocktails...table cloths...sound system (microphone/speakers)..music..and assistance of DJ. To extend this for another 90min - its an additional cost of $700 USD
  19. Very good way to word it! Mine are similar and will read: We have always dreamed of getting married on the beach under the sun, with our feet in the soft white sand, and a background of turquoise waters, surrounded by our family and friends. We truly hope you are able to join us in paradise to share our special day but we understand our dream may not be a reality for some and know that your thoughts and well wishes will be with us as we celebrate. We also understand that not everyone is able to commit at this time, so we ask that you please R.S.V.P no later than: August 1st 2012 R.S.V.P Please return this portion of your boarding pass no later than August 1st 2012 Name(s) of Passenger(s) _____________________________________ _____________________________________ ___Yes, Save us ___ beach chairs ___Sorry, we sunburn easily! We look forward to seeing you in Mexico! Also - on the flip side of things - if i wasn't able to attend someones DW - I'd still like to recieve an invite. Makes me still feel 'included' even though I'm missing out. If I had already divulged I couldn't go and they didn't send me an invite - I'd be a bit hurt...because what if circumstances change and I AM able to go? Do you phone them up and say 'Uh...can I have an invite now?'....I'd also kind feel like they were cheaping out on printing invites too! LOL
  20. Tlseege is right - may want to contact the WC directly to confirm I was told that if you're staying at Tulum - you CAN have ur ceremony at Akumal hammock location but ONLY IF an Akumal Bride doesn't want it. They take priority. So ya - Id get that in writing You need to think about what you want in terms of reception when u ask your questions. The standard is: You have your dinner portion at an A la Carte restaurant (they usually have 1 or 2 predetermined) and then have your dance poolside OR you can have the entire thing poolside (I chose this because I didnt want to share a restaurant with other resort guests AND I didnt want my own wedding guests to have to use one of their weekly alloted A la carte dinners). I have prices for a lot of this stuff for Tulum side - so let me know if you want anything.
  21. Congrats! My TA put me in contact with my WC - and she started sending me all these info sheets and forms that I needed to fill out. So maybe ask your travel agent. Or send a general email to the Bahia Wedding people and give them your confirmation booking # and they'll probably follow up with you.
  22. Thanks Stluciabound! Peach - I agree...I really dont think ANYONE (even ur dad) has a right to tell you who you can and cannot invite to your wedding. Are people forgetting thats its JUST an invite? It doesn't by any means require them to attend. In my eyes an invitations says 'Hey..we'd love for you to be there and share our special day'..THATS IT. In my eyes that's one of the most honorable things anyone can get in the mail! LOL There's no guilt trips behind it...no hidden agendas. You're just telling certain people that you want them there on your wedding day! What is so wrong with that?? Maybe if you put it into that perspective for your dad he may see different. I have people who have already said they won't be attending...but I'm STILL sending them an invite. I think its proper wedding etiquette anyway. Thats just my two cents.
  23. She's right! Thats exactly what this forum is for! I'm so glad I decided to post my story on here - I was so nervous because I thought everyone was thinking (quit your whining and get over it)...but to my surprise there's not only FABULOUS support on here...but there's brides on here who can relate also! And thats the best remedy for what we're all going through. Gives us the strength we need to pick up and carry on..but most of all it validates our feelings. We all know us girls deal with stress differently than guys do. We NEED TO TALK ABOUT IT to feel better..and thats exactly what this forum has done! Sooooo glad to have everyone here!! May actually get to continue on with this engagement and wedding planning with some sanity!
