Perhaps there is different etiquette in the UK where this bride is from?? Who's to say what etiquette is anymore???????!!!!!! There aren't any hard rules anymore. You also don't know who her guests are. Maybe it's totally fine to them. Maybe you should find out more info before making a judgement call like this. Just sayin

Have you used that company before? If so, you're happy with the result?

Dang Tris...I want that...however I have a groupon for $35 for $100 worth of professional picture framing so I can't complain. We definitely want to get one photo done on canvas and frame a bunch more. We also plan on a great coffee table book for our photos - we'll likely use shutterfly unless anyone has a better place to use (in Canada) Since our wedding was so small, we are also getting smaller books done for everyone that came for Christmas as a thankyou gift - I've got most everyone's photos and will be able to choose the best photos between 7 camera's and the professional photos.

Trista, um...so I'm not gonna lie. I sorta cried a little bit when I saw the photo of your dad? grandfather? got out of his chair to walk you down the isle. Holy smokes...I'll bet that was so special. those are really amazing photos!

Paradisus Palma Real...Really Worried!
lesee replied to Anna22's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
I agree with Dania....don't worry ladies. Dania and I got married 2 days apart and actually got a chance to meet. I actually watched a bit of her wedding and if you think the pictures are stunning, you should have seen her in person. Dania's sound advice about bringing pictures and makeup for the makeup artist at the spa is on point. Dania fared better than I did. I did bring pictures and my make up turned out horrible - I ended up washing my face and doing it myself - I also had to fix my hair. My low, messy side chignon turned into 80's prom style spiral curls. Nothin that a whole bunch of back combing and pins couldn't remedy. But I did come prepared and knew exactly what to do in regards to my makeup so I wasn't too upset with having to do it over again. The ceremony set up and the dinner were flawless - my only complaints were that we were supposed to have a chocolate cake but instead we got vanilla - no biggie really. But we also never received our "breakfast in bed" the next morning that was included in our package which was a little disappointing but we made the best of it. -
Welcome back, girls!

Stressed and frustrated

Hi Praye!!!! The wedding was so great! I can't say enough good about it. Diana and Lenny were great - they do have an issue with returning emails in a timely manner but don't worry. You shouldn't have a concern on your day and the set up and the dinner was flawless. I can't say enough amazing things about Arrecife Studios. Seriously...AMAZING photos. Kara (our photographer) was not only so incredibly nice but very talented and I loved working with her. Claudia was a sweetheart - I think she runs the Arrecife office - if you want her contact info I can PM it to you. I had heard the same thing and I contacted Claudia immediately and she reassured me that they would never ask anyone to put their cameras down. Both my sisters have SLR cameras and their husband shot throughout the entire ceremony. Our photos did end up costing more than we thought because we didn't think we would love all the photos and we wanted to have them all - we didn't want to regret not having all of them. Here's a photo from Arrecife: -
Laura - we're in it for the gifts/$$ as well - I'm not gonna lie. That's why we're doing it!! Our immediate families were our only guests at our DW and the husband has a gianormous family so I guess it works out plus all our friends are coming so it'll be fun! meggers - Brilliant shot with the bikinis Mocha - I'm sure people won't expect that. I've actually mentioned to the guests that have already given very generous gifts to not bring anything. We just would love them to be there.

Yowza, girls....you can tell almost everyone's back...the thread is busy! Mocha - you looked awesome! meggers - stoked for you that your AHR(s) is/are better than before. Sometimes things we think are sh!tty turn out even better in the end. I'm sure you photos by Del Sol are going to be amazing. They're work is fantastic Lisa - I'm dying to see this video! My work blocks out youtube. BOO HISS GRRRRR My AHR is at the 'inlaws' in june which should be....interesting. There were some issues during our trip with the MIL which we thankfully didn't let ruin our time. (My parents ate their words and apologized for being so difficult prior to the trip as they had such an amazing time away! I couldn't be happier ) We sent out the AHR invites as soon as we got home and now we're scrambling to get all the decor and catering lined up - we're doing the white tent thing too! It'll all come together and I'm so proud of how our invites came out. I'll post it when I get home. Anyone else feel that it went by so quickly? Hands up....WHO WANTS TO GO BACK????

Hi Ladies I was married at the Paradisus Palma Real in Punta Cana on April 18th. I can tell you that I didn't love my hair (had to tweak it - I asked for a side, low messy chignon and I got 80's prom spiral curals) and I HATED HATED HATED my makeup that the spa / salon did for me. BUT I was prepared. I went to MAC and took a picture of what I liked with me and had one of their artists show me how, I bought all the products. As soon as I got back to my room after my makeup was done on my wedding day, I washed my face and just did it again. It didn't take long. I would HIGHLY recommend that you come prepared....

TEIRA!! your photos look amazing!

I do! Although, not well, I met him through a friend. He does a lot of music photography and he does it well

At first glance I was disappointed - I wanted something a bit more fashion forward. But the lace work at the bodice must've taken FOREVER as it was so symetrical. The lace on the bottom part of the dress was reminiscent of Alexander McQueen's last collection which I LOVED...very regal. The lines in the back were amazing. I believe that she had to have her shoulders covered and maintain a lot of modesty due to Westminster Abby's request? I personally would have not chosen that dress - but I absolutely appreciate the talent and craftmanship that went into making it. I *almost* preferred Pippa's dress.

Kathy - your photos looked like you all had so much fun! Can't wait to see more. And MAN do you have nice eyes. Your bridesmaid dresses really pop - what great colour choices!

I'd try to go with the travel agent. We found the best deal was through our travel agent - the price online or through the resort itself was much more expensive. -

i LOVE this idea. I wish we had enought guests to have done it ourselves. -
Oh sorry, Brandy - I missed your second post. We got married in the DR, Punta Cana at the Paradisus Palma Real. WE used the photo company that the resort recommended - Arrefice (not sure if that's the correct spelling) and the photographer's name is Kara Werefkin who is an Argentinian, multi talented beauty who is one of those girls you would love to be friends with. The GM were drooling over her - even without the knowlegde that she's a world class snowboarder - nothing turns guys on from vancouver more than a hot girl who can ride LOL.

Thanks Brandy! Our photographer was RAD and she captured our day so fantastically!
