  1. Hey Girl!! You are getting married a week before us! We are 9-10 and my friend is 9-3 anyhoo- I'll answer what I know.. 1. We have more time than you!! Our ceremony is at 1230 and dinner at 6. So we are doing our ceremony from 1230-1, then at the gazebo with 1st dance and pics until 2. Then doing pics on the beach until 3 then relax time until 530 where everyone will meet at the lobby for dinner at 6. We luckily have two photogs so we will split up and do guys pics and girls pics after family pics. Honestly the resort is huge so I doubt the little time you have in between will matter greatly. If your wedding is at 4 and you have the gazebo until 530 that only leaves an hour until your 630 dinner. I would jut go take more pics or at least go to a bar and have a couple drinks. 2. I don't think the disco has a name. There is only one on the resort. After dinner you could just have all the guests who want to attend meet in the lobby at 1045 (the disco opens at 11). That is totally up to you if you want to change. I'm not, I love my dress too much!! 3. We are just telling our guests to meet us at the buffet at 730 for the welcome dinner where we will hand out welcome bags and remind them of important info. 4. Guests can call the resort up to 2 weeks before check in to make a reservation at the a la carte restaurants. 5. I dunno about the cabana.. I would just try calling the resort front desk and asking.
  2. Trust me some of those reviews bothered me but I am also a complainer, haha so I wouldn't go hours without towels, I would find someone until I got some!! I would read the reviews then make sure you look at certain things when you get there like the cleanliness of the room, staff attitudes etc. Especially me as the bride I am definitely going to make sure that my guests are comfortable and have the best time! I'm a firm believer that if you don't like your job you shouldn't be doing it. So I expect the best even moreso from an all inclusive resort!
  3. As a self proclaimed travel snob, it does bother you a little bit to read bad reviews but also take into account how many people don't post reviews. Also, look at the review numbers.. Out of almost 2100 reviews, 1400 of them were good. Our wedding is 44 days away so I will make sure I write a review and come back and tell everyone how it is. I hope this makes you feel a little better
  4. Here is my hair flower and here is my daughters hair flower attached to a headband. The Etsy seller is AMAZING and not too expensive, I think you will really like her. She also made the skirt my daughter is wearing. Her shop name is Bambaroos.
  5. Hey Doll! I am working on losing a couple more pounds, getting my Loubi's stretched and finalizing the welcome bag contents. I think we have everything other than the snacks to go in them which I will buy at the end of August right before we leave. Other than that everything else is done. What are you working on?
  6. Hey there and congrats!! 1. Yes those are the right emails. I would email one of the other but not both. Sometimes emailing both gets confusing and you don't want an answer from one that another has already answered. Sometimes that confusion leads to double bookings etc. They do take about 2 weeks to return an email so just be patient and they will get back to you. Or just ask here first just like you just did 2. You can book your reception time now, but not the place. Restaurants aren't all open at the same time so you won't know your actual restaurant until about 2 weeks before. But go ahead and book the time now. 3. The free upgrade is for whatever the next level room is above what you have booked. However, I heard that there is no huge difference between the ocean view suite and the club golden. But if you booked the ocean view then you will be upgraded to club golden if available. 4. Ther is no place to dance and party in the restaurants so people who want a private dance/cocktail party rent the gazebo. You can do an ipod with your own docking station or rent a dj, rent a bartender etc.. Just an option for people that want dancing and/or cocktails after the dinner reception. Anymore questions ask away 51 days to go for me!!!
  7. Here is my engagement ring... We finally decided on a band. I am in LOVE with eternity bands and I couldn't find a band to match my e-ring so I just picked the one I liked. I will probably wear my e-ring on my right hand and just wear my band alone since they don't quite fit next to each other But I'm in love with my band so I'll make it work!
  8. So after much back and forth between these and the Manolo Blahnik Something Blue's... I decided to go with the Louboutin Peep Toes. I have lots of CL's but these are by far my favorite.
  9. I totally agree with above. If his girl hasn't been a major part of your life since high school why are you even worried about it? You all talked about weddings back when you were close and people have new friends, relationships, lives etc. I would honestly be a little weirder out by her "stalkerish" behavior and let her know you all aren't that close anymore and she isn't part of the wedding. You are having a destination wedding with a few friends who have become super close to you. Not someone who has fallen off and you barely speak to. Sorry but I'm a blunt person, my wedding comes before anyone elses feelings.
  10. Hey Doll, As soon as you book your ceremony time they should tell you what times are available for dinner. They open the restaurants for receptions at 6pm, so I suggest doing it as soon as you book your ceremony time. Something happened to my ceremony time of 430 when Bev left and Chandlyn took over so insrptead of ceremony at 4 and dinner at 6 I now have ceremony at 1230 and dinner at 6 which sucks ass but oh well. Just more time to take pics and just relax...oh and change into my 2nd dress I would also let them know asap about renting the gazebo since those can book up and you may have to pay a deposit, rent a band/dj/bartender etc..
  11. Hey There- Congrats! The GBP has lots of options including a free ceremony if you are staying at least 7 nights and it's for up tp 16 people. So that would be the best package for you. You might also talk to the planners there to maybe see about just a small setup for you two with cake, photo's etc. My only excursion is to Dolphin Cove. It is like a big park with shark shows, dolphin encounters or swims, paddle boats, access tp privat beach, fishing etc. Everyone is going to the park but only a handful of us are actually swimming with dolphins. So you pay to get into the park which is about $75 and you get to do everything but feed the sharks and swim with dolphins. If you want to do either of those you pay for those ($120-$200) and your entrance fee is free. So basically my mom isn't swimming with dolphins so she is going to go lay out at the private beach, my FI's parents are going fishing and we are swimming with dolphins with our 6 year old son. Then we are just meeting up for lunch at the restaurant in the park with the rest of our guests. I chose this place because it had something for everyone but our group was still all together Ok so www.dolphincovejamaica.com is the site to read up on the actual park, however to book go through www.islandroutes.com they have a better rate and their rates include transportation to and from the resort. The Ochos Rios location is closest to the GBP, about 20 minutes.. Did I just talk you to death? Lol, sorry...
  12. My dress is Amsale Bijou. I changed the top to one shoulder instead of strapless, but the rosettes at the bottom are the same.
  13. Ok, so I've been debating between 3 shoes.. I keep buying and buying (I LOVE SHOES) and so I've finally narrowed it down to 3.. Which ones do you like best?? These will be for pictures only, I am wearing some fab sparkly flats to wear down the aisle. #1 Something Blue #2 Peep Toe Sparkly #3 Sparkly Sandals
  14. Yes, that is normal. My wedding is 60 days away and I haven't locked in a restaurant either for the reception. The reason is because not all restaurants are open all the time. So closer to your wedding day (usually 2 weeks out) you can lock down a certain restaurant. From what I've been told the Grill and Italian Restaurant are both great so you will have nothing to worry about. You should have locked down a time though..
  15. I can not believe we are almost to the 60 day countdown! I knew 9-10-11 was going to be a popular date! So cool seeing all your other Jamaica September brides on here! I am ADDICTED to Etsy, it is my favorite site (besides eBay) haha. Almost everything I got was from etsy.. Invites, Cake Topper, Flowers, Hair Flowers, Garter, Flower Girl Skirt and Headband, Guestbook Picture, Sand Ceremony Frame... and I'm sure I will find other things to buy before we go, haha.. Here are a couple.. My bouquet Invites.... Ok the thing about these.. So everyone was already booked from when we sent out our save the dates so we decided to not do invites. But I love the seller and the design so I kept this and just changed the invite on the left side to a thank you card and on the right the inserts will be a daily itinerary. These will be placed on the bed with the OOT bags. For our OOT Bags we did.. Each guest will get- Beach bag, Beach Towel, 2 wash cloths (our resort doesn't have them, weird I know), aluminum water bottle, mini bag of chips, our favorite candy (snickers, lemonheads, mike&ikes, and caramel apple pops), mini rum cake, hangover/1st aid kit. 2 Kids age 5- Beach bag, super hero beach towel, coloring book/crayons, candy and chips. Pre-Travel we are sending out Jamaica Tourism Books (free from Jamaica), brochure I made on Vistaprint, and 2 luggage tags each. Ok back to Etsy, haha..
  16. Sorry Ladies, let me try this again.. Here is the shoe-
  17. Cleaning out my closet. I have so many pairs of shoes. So I bought waaaay too many pairs of shoes for my wedding dress so I am getting rid of the contenders I probably wouldn't wear again. These shoes are brand new in the box, never been worn, size 10 and come with the original dustbag. They retailed for $210 My loss is your gain. Will ship for free
  18. I wouldn't mind using the resort vendors except photographer. Luckily my resort allows you to bring your own vendors and only makes you pay the vendor fee if they are staying for the ceremony/reception. With that being said, I love my photographer and decided against my 1st resort choice because they didn't allow you to bring your own photographer. Legally, she could sue the resort, especially if she had already paid the deposit. They can't change their policies after she paid her deposit and not offer her to continue with the contract she signed (if she signed one, which she should have). As a wedding planner, I have been in this situation many times. The bride needs to contact the resort and talk to the person in charge, usually a manager over the coordinator. Almost always the resort is willing to allow people who have already paid a deposit the option of some type of discount or the use of their own vendors since they planned to in the first place. I hope this helps.
  19. I forgot about my invites!! The best invitations shop ever!! We decided against invitations but this is what they looked like at first. So we just changed the invite on the left, to a thank you card and along the right side instead of information regarding the wedding we decided to make the inserts the daily itinerary for Thursday, Friday and Saturday.. Shop-Ellaspaper
  20. HAHA, I totally don't mind!! I knew what I was getting myself into when I got the outfit, hahaha.
