  1. Well, it's been over a year of storing all of these extras and my husband has decided there doesn't need to be an entire closet dedicated to left over wedding stuff anymore! Note: Prices do not include shipping as it will depend on where I am sending it too and how big/heavy the package is!
  2. Hi ladies! We got married at DLR on July 19 (Even saw Miss Q at the disco that night!) and it was awesome - I keep saying that I expected more things to go wrong and be complicated but nothing did! Jenny was awesome and literally did everything for me so I didn't have to do anything (unless I really wanted to....)! I will try and post some pics and a review on the DLR reviews but here are a couple pics in the mean time! It was SO hot on the day of the wedding and rained in the morning so the humidity was crazy which resulted in some sweaty guys and it shows in the pics but luckily it can be photoshopped out! Kelsie
  3. The actual charge depends on what you want/get. You pay per person for the meal ($30-55 pp depending on which menu you choose) and per person for the cocktail hour (either silver or gold) Also, I believe you pay $2-3 per person for the "open bar" thing - this is noted at the bottom of each page of the menus so read there to see the exact cost. Also, there is usually a tax/gratuity charge which is a percentage that you pay on your total. You don't pay by the hour for anything as far as I understand - you only pay per person and most things are for a set amount of time (ex. the cocktail party is 1 hour, the reception is to a maximum of 11pm so if you start at 7pm you will get your 4 hours) - so if you pay for open bar you pay per person and that will include the whole time that is included. If you choose to do a day reception this would be a little different for timing though.
  4. The 1 app, 1 salad, 1 entree, 1 dessert is for the regular menus - not the buffet dinners. Since the buffets are only offered for larger groups they have a different set of menus for a few different buffets (caribbean, mexican, dominican etc) but you have to ask the wedding coordinator specifically for the menus. If you go with a regular menu, you actually choose 2 entrees and your guest choose which one they want.
  5. jessicalynne and miss Q - I am getting married on July 19th and we arrive on the 16th so I will be there at the same time as you ladies!! bella - once you get all the details sorted out (# of people, time of pick up etc) he will send you a paypal invoice. I'm not sure if you can do a deposit (I'm sure they would be okay with that), I just paid in full because it was close enough to when we are leaving anyway.
  6. Oh, I forgot! I am making a little welcome bag for each room that we will give to our guests when we greet them at their arrival and then each person will get their own welcome bag when we have our welcome dinner so I wanted to put an air freshener type thing in each room bag. I was at bath and body works the other day and with their sale right now they have their room sprays on for $4 so I went to buy them and the scents that I bought were only $1.25 each! They are regular $7 so this a great deal if this is something you were planning on putting in your bags!
  7. For those of you who were looking for the individual packs of gatorade or something similar...I got individual packs of Emergen-C - Tropical flavour and they come in boxes of 30. They are at Walmart, Superstore etc - I found mine at Walmart in the pharmacy section and I think in Superstore they were in the "health/organic food" section. They have lots of different flavours and they are basically like a juice mix with electrolytes type of thing.
  8. proti - LOVE that hairstyle. I am thinking of doing something similar except that I am going to do it a little higher off my neck. I was pondering wearing it down, but more than the concern of the heat, I was worried about the wind! We were outside on a BEAUTIFUL day the other day, trying to take a few pictures which did not happen because the breeze (not even stronger wind!) blew my hair all over the place!! Since we will be on an island (DR) where you almost always get a breeze off the ocean, I decided I didn't a mouth full of my hair when I'm trying to say my vows! haha.
  9. I haven't had too many delays. He has been super quick to respond to me most of the time although he kind of goes through spurts (he will respond a bunch really quickly and then take 2-3 weeks to respond to the next one). Did you request one of the Cocotours tours or did you request a private catamaran type trip? I only ask because we did the private catamaran and Cocotours has a certain company that they work with to provide their catamarans and he didn't respond to me for a while because he was waiting to hear back from them on a quote. That might be why he hasn't replied yet? I have found that people in the DR aren't as quick to respond as we are in North America, but don't worry because he has been good about getting back to me and getting things arranged!
  10. If you have an email for free regular sized postcards - the amount you get is 100 free (ie. they don't just give you one free postcards, that's stupid). Some things are individual items for free (pen, tote bag) and some come in groups like 100 regular postcards, 50 oversized postcards, 10 invitation cards etc. If you read the vistaprint emails it says this. But you have to sign up on their website to get the emails or else you won't get any special offers for free items.
  11. This is about the same as from Punta Cana - you can get transfers from both places at www.dominicanairporttransfers.com but I'm not sure the cost because we booked with our catamaran trip company!
  12. I was trying to figure out a ballpark cost.... Metallic Paper for Cover: $0.20 per invite (~$0.40 per page and you get 2 covers per page) Inside Paper: $0.10 per invite ($10 for 100 pk at Staples and you need one page per invite which is 4 passport size pages like mine) *If you use cardstock paper instead of the linen paper it is $8 for 125pk so a little cheaper* Note glued to back page paper: $0.02 per invite (used same paper as inside paper) Total Paper Cost Per Invite: $0.32 Staples/Stapler: I used mine from work but you can get both of these at the dollar store for under $5 Paper Cutter: $12 (you can get more expensive, fancier ones if you want...) Corner Rounder Punch: $8 (you can get more expensive ones of these too if you want) Glue: $5 Computer Ink: about $75 (I needed 2 colour and 1 black cartridge) Ink Pad: $6-8 per pad (I only need one) Stamps: about $35 for the stamps and shipping I think. Total Cost of Other Supplies: $148.00 Basically, I think it cost me approximately $1.50 per invite but that does not include my time - and they did take time!! I made about 125 invites in case you want to compare the amount of ink you will need.
  13. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/38128/canadian-oot-bag-info-where-to-shop
  14. If you do a search for personalized travel mugs there are a TON of threads that are specific to this topic and there is also a thread that is a "Where to shop for OOT bags" for Canadian brides, you just have to use the search feature of the forum! I actually think the "where to shop" thread is a sticky (link at the beginning of the forum) in the OOT bags section of the forum so I would check there too.
  15. We are using the same company that we are using for our airport transfers so I think we are getting a discount because we are giving them a lot of business! But you can check with them anyway, I originally got per person pricing from them as well and it wasn't as high as $90 per person! It is Coco Tours and I have been arranging everything with Steve - they pick up at the DLR beach which is nice so there is not bus to the marina or anything!
  16. We are flying in to Punta Cana but that is because we don't Have any other option from Canada in the summer - if we had the choice we would probably have chosen to fly directly to La Romana. We have booked our transfer through Coco tours which have been awesome so far and we are getting a private transfer for about $42 per person round trip which is cheaper than I could find anywhere.
  17. I definitely decided on RT because of cost and only because of that - I am a HUGE fan of flowers (real flowers that is...) but get RT flowers is going to end up saving me about $500! I ordered mine from www.wedideas.com and I am in Canada - the shipping was really reasonable and I have seen quite a few happy brides who have ordered from them!
  18. Welcome! I am a DLR bride too but for July 2011 - have you found the Dreams La Romana thread yet? It has a lot of pages to read through (over 300 I think...) but it has so much good information and tons of pics etc! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/39815/dreams-la-romana
  19. no pressure!!! I will be patient...I have until July so I can wait
  20. Someone is on a path of rage today, multiple posts raging about the same topic? Maybe this forum isn't the right sounding board for you. Also, we are ONLY having an AHR because so many guests who couldn't attend the destination wedding requested it so to all of those brides who are having an AHR, I would ignore the name calling of somone who has ironically named themselves "Etiquette."
  21. Wow. We actually specified no gifts on our AHR invitation and no one is planning on getting us anything - just a get together to celebrate with everyone in my SIL's backyard. Loving the random rage though....I suggest you direct it to the appropriate person instead of at the thousands of people you do not know on this forum?
