I am ordering my dress off ebay as well as my BM dresses and my Mom's dress - they are giving us a HUGE discount which is awesome and I know they do good quality because I ordered a "try it out" dress just to see what I would be getting and I LOVE it! I love this option because BMs can choose their own style and still have it made to fit them but I can keep the fabric and colour the same - all for less than half price of going through a bridal shop (BM dresses are going to be about $65 each including shipping!)

*Nadine*'s planning thread
KCB2011 replied to *Nadine*'s topic in Destination Wedding Planning Journal
Just getting around to reading everyone's planning thread since I just joined...wondering where you got your pashminas from? I was thinking of getting them for my BMs but can't find any that aren't too expensive! Thanks and love your dress! -
punta cana - ceremony time help!
KCB2011 replied to summafool1's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
That works too - my FI has a big thing about not seeing me before the wedding so hence the forced earlier ceremony to allow for pics! -
Hi Everyone, These are my colours (Green is mostly the accent colour) and I am having a hard time finding ideas for decor - our resort will have Gold Tiffany Chairs (apparently - but they definitely have white as a backup) so I am looking for chair decor ideas that won't be tacky with the classier look of the tiffany chairs AND keeping with my color theme! Also, planning on having tealights and simple flower centerpieces for the reception tables but wondering if anyone else has some simple, elegant table ideas that incorporate the beach/travel theme? Thanks in advance!

Anti-Chair Sash - Ideas?

I've seen nice pictures of the fabric tied to a starfish or shell, or something else that ties in with the wedding theme -

Supplies sites that ship to Canada
KCB2011 replied to JBean's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Thank you so much for starting this thread! http://www.goodthingsweddingfavors.com/ This website ships to Canada, but I haven't had a chance to look at things to see about pricing of items and more importantly shipping prices! www.discountmugs.com ships to Canada but the shipping can get pretty crazy depending on what you order - some things are not so bad but I ordered 200 tote bags from here and the shipping was just under $100 to Alberta. -

Any Canadian brides know of a similar site that will ship to Canada? -
Thanks dcairns!! I will make sure to Tiara when I email her next - I think we are planning on bring an ipod dock and playing our own music but was hoping we would be able to do that on the Seaside Grill without it costing an arm and a leg! Do you all suggest booking hair appointments with the spa in advance or waiting until we get down there?

New and looking forward to some much needed tips :-)

Welcome! This forum is SO helpful...it seems like a lot of info to sift through, especially if you are looking for something specific, but making use of the "search this forum" tool is something I found helpful if I was looking for a specific topic rather than just browsing for ideas. I am a Dominican bride as well (July 2011!!) but will be at Dreams La Romana. Happy Planning! -
Congrats! I originally had Jamaica as a front runner as well (most flights available from Canada, and everyday from Toronto I think!) and if you will have kids going to your wedding, I have family members who went to Beaches Negril and thought it was great, especially for families. I decided on Dominican Republic as it was more affordable for our guests. Good Luck with your planning !!

Congratulations!

Welcome and good luck! We were at the Valentin Imperial a couple years ago while they were still building and even then it was AMAZING. i loved it there - the Mexican restaurant is ridiculously good and the beach restaurant (Seafood I think) has the best Kobe beef burger for lunch. I would literally go back to that resort just for that burger! Happy Planning!

Congrats! We are going to Dreams La Romana after a TON of research - I have read lots of good things about almost all of the Dreams Resorts. Beaches are also nice because they are family friendly as well and tend to have more "activities" for kids like waterslides etc.

punta cana - ceremony time help!
KCB2011 replied to summafool1's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
If you are planning on having your pictures taken in between I would definitely say 3pm. We originally planned to have our ceremony at 5pm (7pm reception) and after reading posts from many brides on this forum I am going to move it earlier so we can make sure we have time for photos! (We are going to be in La Romana in July 2011). I know it leaves time in between for your guests if you aren't having a cocktail party or something in between, but they can go hang out at the pool bar or go for snacks while they wait because you definitely don't want to be rushed for your photos. -
Are you paying for your bridesmaids dresses?
KCB2011 replied to jawedding's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We are not paying for the BM's dresses because I wanted to give them a more personal gift. Also, I will be paying for a manicure and pedicure once we get down to the resort as an additional thank you. I also am trying to keep the cost below $100 and right now it's looking like they will only be about $60, woohoo! FI is buying his groomsmen their pants and shirts as his thank you gift to them but that is more because he doesn't really know what else to get them! We will probably get them something else (smaller) like a nice pair of sunglasses or something as well. -
Hi Everyone! I thought it might be cool to have one thread for pics of Boarding Pass Invites/STDs - there might already be one like this but I couldn't find one sooooo....this is my attempt at a DIY STD. It's not as professional looking as some templates, but it only cost me about $65 to make 200 of them. I bought the cards at Staples and then just printed on my computer at home so I was more concerned with the budget factor to my STDs than the details of the card! Post your pics of Boarding Pass invites and STDs too!

I had the same problem so I found it was much easier to put the text into text boxes instead of typing text within the document - that way you can organize the order by right clicking on each object (text box or picture) and go to "Order" and you will get about 6 different options! Also, it's easier to move the text where you want it to be instead of trying to tab your text to the right spot! Hope this helps!

I am also in LOVE with Vistaprint! I created our RSVP cards from postcards but don't have a picture - got the idea from a BDW bride, you all are the BEST! I also just made "Currency Converter" cards to put in our OOT bags with the free 250 business cards! We already have luggage tags and I wanted to figure out a way to make use of the business cards so that's what I came up with!

We are doing White, Lime Green and Champagne/Gold - I wanted it to feel like a DW without having a major statement of colour (my Mom says I'm boring but oh well!) I went with the green mostly because the stems of the calla lilies in our bouquets will be green and I am a matchy matchy person so I wanted as much to blend as possible! BM's dresses will be Champagne/Gold and using green mostly for accent colours (napkins, tealight candles etc).
