  1. My understanding is that prices will not go down. Moon Palace sets their rates for the year, and those are the rates. They don't fluctuate like normal hotel rooms may. My experience with Teresa has been good so far, and she was able to beat Moon Palaces group rates on rooms. She does offer payments plans. You (bride and groom) need to make an initial deposit to lock in the group room block. Then your guests can reserve their rooms with just a single nights deposit, and make payments on the room up until a final deadline (about 90 days prior to travel). Hope this helps?!
  2. I would ask again or question someone else about moving the flowers from the ceremony to the reception. There's no reason they should deny that request. That's crazy. If you paid for them, they are yours. If they are a free decoration, maybe they need to remain for another ceremony. However, if its something you specifically requested and purchased, they better move them from ceremony to reception upon your request. I would fight for that one. Hands down.
  3. Sorry to say, but I don't think they will let you use a family or friends 'resort credits' towards your wedding package either. As with everything at MP, it all comes down to who you speak to, but I would be VERY surprised if they allow that.
  4. Yeah, but with the 54 nights booked, she is going to get 2 comped nights anyway. 60 nights booked gets you 4 comped nights. So, she is only getting 2 extra free nights, not 4.
  5. Just a thought, maybe somewhat extreme...however, maybe booking a room for the 6 nights would cost less than what you would pay for a reception? I don't know how the math would work out. But, there are extra benefits that go along with the 60 nights (including free nights for bride and groom). It may be worth looking into booking the cheapest possible room for 6 nights and 'eat' that cost, in order to get the other freebies that go along with it??
  6. Here is the infomation I have about Cocktail Hour and Reception costs. Cocktail party after cermony: From 10 to 20 $400 From 21 to 30 $600 From 31 to 40 $800 From 41 to 50 $1000 Above prices include a 1 hour cocktail reception, open bar, and hors d'oeuvres Private Wedding Reception: $400 per table of 10 guests Includes standard decor Event includes function space, menu, 2 hours of open bar service
  7. To be completely honest, I am not sure any of them are very private. Most of them are set up in a manner that you shouldn't have people walking through the ceremony, along the ocean. However, you will likely have some people watching from the shore no matter where you are set up. We are having our ceremony in a Gazebo, not on the beach, so I didn't take a real in-depth look at the beach locations. I did take quite a few photos of the Tucan Beach set up, as we saw numerous weddings there in the couple days we spent at the resort. Our room had a veiw of both the Tucan Gazebo and Tucan Beach set-up.
  8. Golf is normally $260 per round. If you play before 7am (I would) its only $220. You can use your resort credits for golf, but not for clubs. Club rental is $50 per set. There is a link to the golf rates on the palaceresorts website. Here you go: http://www.palaceresorts.com/resorts/moon-palace/golf/packages
  9. Without knowing which beach location you are having the ceremony at, this is a tough question. If you are having it at the Tucan Beach ceremony site (which is in front of Nizuc) it is going to be a very long walk from Sunrise section. The Tucan Gazebo and Tucan Beach are at the far end of Nizuc (closest to Grand Section, and farthest from Sunrise Section). There are a handful of terrace's along the way, from Nizuc to Sunrise, and any of them would be fine. Some are much larger than others (Moonlight terrace is HUGE). I would take a quick look at a map, and get an idea of where each terrace is located. I guess pick something located in between your beach ceremony and the Sunrise section.
  10. We paid $220 per person for a round of golf....but that was an 'early bird' special....before 7am. I think it is $250 per person. Yes, you can use your resort credits for golf, but not for club rentals. We rented clubs, and it was $50 per set of clubs.
  11. Yes, and it usually works like that with a travel agent. Our travel agent has agreed to refund us our comped nights when the rooms blocked get dropped, about 60 days before the wedding. But it doesn't work like that if you set up your room block directly through palace resorts. In that case, they refund your comped room nights post travel by mailing a check weeks after your wedding.
  12. I'm sorry to hear that. This is a big issue with moon palace contacts. One person tells you one thing, another person tells you the exact opposite, and the Miami office tells you a third. You never really know what you are allowed to do, and what you aren't. You need to get everything in writing twice and keep copies. I scheduled an appointment for a meeting with an on-site wedding coordinator during our site visit. When we arrived at the weddings department, they had NO record of us even having an appointment. Luckily, I had the confirmation letter of the scheduled appointment. They looked shocked when I showed them the confirmation. Just an example of how un-organized everyone is there. You really have to keep track of everything yourself.
  13. First off, she took forever to give me a response about anything. I know this is normal, but it's still not acceptable. Second, she quoted me room rates that were actually higher than what was available from the palace resorts website. I am bringing 80-130 'customers' to the resort for them, and they were not giving me a break on the rate. (Our Travel Agent was able to beat Michelles quote by $30 per person per night). Third, she absolutely refused to make any changes to our wedding contract. Fourth, she refused to give me contact information for our on site WC. I understand they don't usually contact you until 60-90 days before the wedding, but I was not willing to wait that long and let our locations get booked by someone else. I told her I was ready to book private events and pay deposits, and she would not let me. (We flew to moon palace, requested a meeting with an on site wedding coordinator, and booked ALL our locations while at the weddings department at the resort). Fifth, she would not promise me the resort credit vacation dollars promotion in our package. She told me that it only ran through Dec 2011 and could not guarantee it would be available to us. (Our travel agent wrote it into our contract and guaranteed it) There were more issues I had to deal with when initially working with Michelle. Now, our travel agent (who we found from this forum) handles all the issues with the Miami office.
  14. All of the information about wedding group benefits on the palace resorts website state that you will receive a refund for the 7 comp nights for bride and groom POST TRAVEL. Meaning you have to pay for your stay, and they send you a check 1-2 months after you return home. I wonder why the Miami office would tell you otherwise? After initially contacting the Miami office and not being pleased with the Miami coordinator Michelle Farinas, we decided to immediately hire a travel agent, and she deals with the Miami office, and has been great!
  15. We are getting married on August 10, 2012, and will be staying at the resort from the 6th-14th. We may get to see your wedding.
  16. The rooms in the Sunrise and Nizuc sections are practically identical. The only real difference is that Sunrise rooms have a hammock on the balcony, the Nizuc rooms do not. Other than that, they are identical.
  17. Just to update everyone on the dance floor debate. I just got word back from Zuniga. The resort has a plain brown dance floor they will provide for free. It is about 15 feet x 15 feet. Zuniga has a couple options if you don't want to use the free one. 15 feet x 18 feet $400 21 feet x 21 feet $700 Here is a blurry pic that Zuniga sent me of the FREE dancefloor provided by Moon Palace....
  18. My OPINION is that the Nizuc section was perfect. The wedding dept is in the Nizuc Lobby. The pools were large (not as large as the Sunrise), but there was plenty of room. It is centrally located between Grand and Sunrise. The Sunrise section holds the convention center, and therefore seems to be the section that large conventions stay in. While we were there, we saw a HUGE convention taking up some areas of Sunrise (they were all wearing thier convention passes around thier necks each day/night). Because of this, the Sunrise section seems to be busier with conventions/families. Nizuc section seems to be more of the couples/honeymooners section (hence the low number of double bed rooms in Nizuc. The Grand section was very nice, however, it was very quiet, and not many of that sections rooms have ocean views. They are built back away from the ocean with more 'jungle' views. These are just my opinions. I have read on these forums of many people who have stayed in the Sunrise section every time they go, and love it. We booked Concierge level rooms, and they only exist in the Nizuc section. I liked the idea that it was in the center of the resort, so the walk to either Sunrise or Grand isn't as bad from the middle.
  19. You can stop into either lobby (Nizuc or Sunrise) and grab a weekly event calender off any desk. They print a weekly program with hour by hour events going on. I actually posted a copy of one in the Moon Palace 2011 brides thread. I don't remember where exactly the main board is, possibly near the ampitheater maybe? However, at check in, you can grab the program which lists all the events/days/times for the entire week.
  20. It seems as if a brown 'checkered' dance floor is available for free from the resort. Anything else, you will have to rent from Zuniga.
  21. Plain white tablecloths, plain white napkins and NO chair covers are included. Anything else is extra.
  22. The site visit was great, although too short. The resort is very large, and 3 days was not enough time to see everything the resort has to offer. Must see/try: Micheal Jackson tribute show was actually GOOD. The spa and both restaurants at the Golf Couse. Mexican Restaurant Las Coparales was good. Mo mo no Hana was good Sushi on the Caribbean terrace was very good. They have sushi table service up there from like 5-8pm or 6-9pm. Avoid: Nothing really. The only thing I wasn't thrilled with was the lunch buffet inside the Nizuc lobby. Forgot the name. It wasn't great. Also the orange juice there seems off. It may be fresh squeezed, but certainly much sweeter and/or more tart than what we are used to in the states (IMO). There is a lot to explore at the resort. Quite a bit going on every night in and around both Nizuc and sunrise lobbies. You would be hard pressed to see everything in a full week.
  23. It is true that they typically don't assign guests to their specific rooms until the night before check-in. I imagine it's because of the high rate of guests upgrading rooms at check-in and moving rooms. However, if you have your TA send a request for a specific section, they will do their best and usually book your group there. As long as there is enough available rooms at each category you booked and enough double beds. The Nizuc is the only section with Concierge level rooms. And the Sunrise has more rooms with double beds in it, than any other section.
