Quick question about DJ equipment....I have contacted PSAV and reserved DJ equip for our mp wedding. PSAV is asking me to pay in full prior to the event via a bank wire transfer?? I was under the assumption they could just add this amount on to your MP bill to pay at check out? Did any of you previous brides use PSAV and have the amount added to your final MP bill at checkout? Or did you pay in full in advance via bank wire transfer??

We have booked and paid for a Concierge Level room. Since we have hit the 75 room nights, not only are they going to refund the cost of the room, but both our Travel Agent and our on-site wedding coordinator has put in a request to upgrade us to a Presidential Suite with our (free room upgrade for bride and groom for hitting 75+ room nights). It is yet to be seen if we can actually get upgraded to a Presidential Suite, or if we will have to use some resort credits along with our 'free upgrade' to move up into a Presidential Suite.

As far as a close Terrace goes....if you look in the picture below...you will see a small terrace just right of center which would probably be large enough for a cocktail hour. Click on the photo to make it larger and you should be able to get a decent look at the terrace just right of center of the photo.

I visited Moon Palace last May and took photos of just about everything. I posted a bunch of pics in the Photos of Moon Palace thread, but I will try to find a couple specific pics to show you what the Bugambillis Gazebo looks like, and its surrounding areas. The Tucan Terrace and Tucan Gazebo are a very solid long walk from the Sunrise section. Ill post some photos here in a just a minute.

There are definitely DJ Equipment packages available which do not include the DJ. There are 2 separate AV companies that Moon Palace will allow you to use. One is JSAV, the other is PSAV. They both have cheaper packages which include the equipment, but not the DJ. One of our guests is a wedding DJ and will be DJ'ing our wedding. You need to ask again or contact the AV companies directly. You most certainly do not have to use or pay for their DJ.

Zuniga can both decorate the stock tables and chairs that are available at the resort, or they have other option of different styles of chairs and tables you can rent at a cost. If you just wanted to rent chair sashes, or table runners for the stock talbes and chairs at the resort, Zuniga is willing to do that for you. Katie from Zuniga is very good, and will contact you back almost immediately with any answers to questions you may have.

I find it quite ironic and humorous that the Private Events MPCancun file states numerous times that your events and locations MUST be reserved and confirmed 60 days in advance before the event, however, many of us are finding it impossible to even touch base with a wedding coordinator that far in advance. I can not believe you are only a month away, and have not had contact with your on-site coordinator yet? That is completely crazy. If you don't mind me asking, have you already reserved and confirmed all your locations for the ceremony/cocktail hour/reception? Or are you going to trust that your first choices are available when you get there?

Michelle Farinas is not an on-site coordinator. She works out of the Miami office and doesn't seem to be very much help when it comes to the specifics of actually reserving your physical locations for any/all event (rehersal dinner, ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, etc). She bascially sets up the group room block and answers general questions. Seeing as how beatyea is only 23 days out, she should definitely be in contact with someone from the on-site Moon Palace weddings department by now. I have previously been in contact with Kalena (who is our on-site coordiantor), but have not been able to get in contact with her in almost 6 weeks now. Every single time I email her, I get an auto-reply that says she is out of office. I absolutely despise with a passion how impossible it is to touch base with wedding coordinators. I know these people have things under control (usually), but they really should have someone available to answer emails or calls for wedding questions. Its crazy how they do business as far as communication goes.

We met with Kalena when we went to Moon Palace for our site visit last year. She was great. She seemed on top of everything. She told us that as long as she was still working at MP when our wedding comes around, she would be our coordinator. She gave me her card, and we have exchanged emails since. She is sometimes slow to return emails, but seems to be very organized. I think you are in good hands with Kalena.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I saw the episode, Dateline NBC - Mystery at Moon Palace. The husband murdered his wife. This could have been done (and has been done) anywhere and everywhere in the world. I fail to see how a domestic violence occurance at a resort in Mexico has anything to do with the safety of either the country or the Resort. I don't know if any of my potential guests saw the show, but if they even think about bringing it up to me as an argument to not go, they are going to get a mouthful from me about their ignorance.

I'm just curious about this "Ivis" person? Is she a Miami contact? Is she an actual on-site wedding coordinator at Moon Palace? Or is she part of this new position they invented, where she is a 'wedding planner' for Moon Palace, but not really an on-site coordinator? How can she be seemingly dropping the ball on so many different things for some many brides as their wedding date approaches?

I'm sorry to say this, but it makes perfect sense that they won't give you a free dinner reservation at the Caribbean Terrace. The Caribbean Terrace is not a restaurant. It basically a bar and lounge area on a Terrace that is above El Caribeno restaurant. The only way to have dinner served up there is if you book and pay for a full private event. They would literally have to set up and cater a full dinner event for you up there. And even if you qualify for unlimited free events by getting the 75+ rooms nights through your group, you would most likely have to pay $12 per person extra for the set up fee because its an upstairs Terrace with no elevator. If Ivis had previously confirmed you could have a dinner reservation up there without booking a full private event, she was clearly mistaken. Is she just a Miami contact? I can't imagine she would even confirm this type of information unless she had no clue about what she was talking about? The free dinner reservation (for 35 guests) applies only to the actual restaurants on the property...and only some of them are eligible, depending on the size of the party. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the Caribbean Terrace is not a restaurant, and I'm not sure why anyone told you they would allow a free dinner reservation up there? Seems odd?

@palacebride27... There is not a 35 guest limit for the ceremony. They will not charge you for guests over 35. Most of the ceremony locations can easily handle 120 guests or more. No extra charges. As far as the free private events for 75+ room nights goes, you should not have to pay for the events ahead of time. Many of us had this question/concern and it has been confirmed by a wedding coordinator and posted in this thread, you will NOT have to pay for the events ahead of time and wait for a refund. If you qualify for the free private events by getting 75+ room nights, you can book events without paying ahead of time. If you have your room booked through the resort, and not a 3rd party TA, you will most likely need to pay for your room in full, and then will get refunded the free 7 nights post travel. It usually takes a few weeks or more. I would too be frustrated about having little to no contact 70 days out. I specifically flew to MP 15 months before our wedding date in order to meet with a coordinator in person and lock in our locations right then and there. I would not be worried about an extra seating charge for more than 35 guests. That 35 persons limit only applies to the dinner reservation, which is not even needed if you qualify for unlimited free events.
