  1. Oh by the way I'll put the link to our pictures on here so you can check them out if you want. These are just a few that our photographer posted on his website. http://www.photosincancun.com/now-jade-riviera-cancun-wedding/
  2. My husband and I chose to do the symbolic ceremony. Even though I was hesitant abou it at first, I think it was a great decision. We thought it was going to be costly to do the legal part in Mexico and a hassle, plus back home they said it was very smart to do this as well that way all of your legal documents are in the United States for whenever you need access to them, for example name change etc. None of our friends or family minded a bit. We are celebrating our ceremony date as our anniversary and we didn't wear our bands until after having our ceremony in Mexico. I think its a really good idea to get legal matters taken care of before you leave if you're considering it.
  3. Hey girls, My husband and I just got back from our wedding at Now Jade and everything went perfectly. Our wedding coordinator was Ana Maria and she did a very good job. One thing I have to say is don't worry I know it seems like a lot going on and you may have unanswered questions before you get there but they tie everything together once you're there. Thats when all of the little details are worked out (which we didn't have many because our wedding was pretty simple) but they make sure they have everything in order before your big day. I literaly did not have to worry about a thing, just enjoy myself. We were married on La Pergola and I really liked the set up and we had our reception at castaways the steakhouse. We didn't pay to have a reception, there were only 14 of us and we thought it seemed silly to pay 22 dollars per person and have to pick one meal that everyone had to eat. So we told Ana Maria that we were just all going to go to a restaurant and eat normally and she had told me thats fine it is just first come first serve so we may have to wait to eat all together, but she ended up having a table set up for us and ready for when pictures were done at no charge which was nice. So, I have to say our photographer was amazing. We chose to use an outside photographer and I'm really glad we did. It was 1000 dollars for five hours and he gave us a cd of all of the pictures he had taken before he left us that day with over 1800 pictures on the disks. Derek Campbell and Lorena from Photos in Cancun (PhotosinCancun.com) is who we used. They were really easy and fun to work with and they got great pictures for us. He was excited to do non traditional pictures which I really liked, of course we did those too but we got a lot of really great pics. There is an abandoned house a short walk up the beach which I had read somwhere from another bride and we got a lot of really great pictures at that site. You could tell they really enjoy what they do and they are so relaxed and easy going, they were really great. One thing we were a little upset about is they didn't upgrade our room. I had read too that a lot of couples ended up getting a room upgrade, we asked but they didn't do anything, so we got what we called the swamp view. That kind of stunk especially beacuse my husbands two friends that ended up coming (two guys mind you) got upgraded to the preffered ocean view room. That didn't make sense, but oh well its not like you're in the room a whole lot anyway. But thats all I've got. Goodluck to everyone and relax everything will go perfectly.
  4. My husband and I just got back from our wedding in Cancun and it was amazing. I have to say Derek and Lorena were excellent! We stayed at the Now Jade in Riviera Maya. We chose to use an outside photographer rather than the resort photographer due to price and we were wanting more than just traditional photographs. I had read great reviews about Derek and Lorena on facebook as well as the BDW website and we are so glad that we found them. Everything was so smooth and easy. We even had our ceremony time moved to an hour earlier, I emailed Derek two days before the wedding and he emailed me almost immediately and said no worries they would make it there an hour earlier as well. Derek really takes his time with you, you never feel rushed he really just wants to get you the best pictures as possible and we absolutely LOVE all of our pictures. He has so many neat ideas and different things to try which we really liked. So I have to say the price is great too. We payed one flat fee for five hours of pictures and he gave us three cds with over 1800 photos before they left that day that was awesome. So when it comes down to it Derek and Lorena are super easy and fun to work with and very professional. They take their time and make sure they deliver exactly what you are looking for. I would definitely recommend them, you will have great pictures and absolutely nothing to worry about.
  5. Mischaka have fun! I'm glad to hear others aren't doing a lot of extras as well. Same here, no wedding party and we don't even have a package. I think all you need is your family and close friends and the beach! Can't wait to hear your reviews.
  6. Hi Girls! Im getting married at Now Jade on March 21, its coming up so quickly! All of your posts have been so helpful. We just booked our photorapher, his name is Derek Campbell and his website is Photosincancun.com if any of you are interested. He seems very nice and has been very quick to reply to all of my messages. His prices seem reasonable as well, we are doing the 5 hour package which is 1000 dollars and includes all of the photographs taken on a cd. Is anyone else getting married in March? I'm starting to get a little overwhelmed now that its getting so close. For the most part I haven't done a whole lot of planning I just plan on going with the flow once we get down there. We are having a small wedding with 12 guests and we don't plan on paying much for all of the little extra things, but after reading all of your posts I'm wanting to! I hope it will still turn out nicely even though were doing the extra stuff. We just have the moments package.
