  1. Anyone hear from Mayte in the last week? Just curious.. she usually replies quickly but I haven't heard back in over a week. Thanks! Also, anyone who already had their wedding at the Jellyfish, maybe you can answer this question - I have the bus booked but I'm fairly certain my guests will be partying until the wee hours... I'm curious if some guests want to go back earlier than others ,if there is any accomodation for that? Did anyone encounter this at all? We have some familiess with young children going and I'm worried that they will want to head back to the resort earlier than the rest... Thank you!
  2. I'm doing barefoot sandals.... i think heels in the sand would be pretty difficult... but I'm sure others have done it before and survived
  3. No, don't check, lol... if they didn't tell you then they can't charge you If you bring it up I'll feel like it'll be my fault if they say there is a charge! lol I'll make sure to word it properly when I get closer to the date!
  4. Is your welcome dinner costing you extra? I worded it as a 'rehearsal dinner' and it was like $20/person or so... but all I want is a place to get together and connect with everyone when we get there...
  5. Those are all great ideas! My favourite is the Polaroid one - I could not find an inexpensive Polaroid camera so I quickly gave up on it though. Have a blast, very excited for you!!!
  6. WOW!!! Can't wait to hear all about it! Capecodder, what is your date again?
  7. I can't answer all the questions but here's a start.... - Just $500 for ceremony, no other charge - I think it is up to a maximum number of seats but I can't remember the maximum... maybe 50?? Someone else will have to answer this one?? - Other than the food and alcohol and extras, no charge for your reception. However, if you want to make the resaurant private it is $1000, if you want just one level private it is $500 - You have some options for the bar.... for dinner I am paying $8/per person and that includes wine, beer and soda... for the length of dinner. For reception I am doing the $10/per person bar...... That's all I got!! Good luck with the decision!
  8. I actually asked the resort if my photographer is staying at the hotel for the week if I still have to pay, and they said no, so you should be fine
  9. Hi Kyra, One of my fiances aunts is a hair dresser and we weren't sure if she was coming but she just put her deposit down, so yey!!! But I do still want to get my nails done there so grr, I need to get in touch with them. I have 6 months, I'm sure I have time! Yes, our wedding will be at the Jellyfish Restaurant next door... we are doing our ceremony and reception there. I can't wait! Thanks for your reply!
  10. Hi ladies! Been quiet for a while! I wanted to know if anyone has had any contact with the spa regarding hair appointments? If so, how far in advance do you book them? I have now emailed the spa twice, plus emailed the WC to email them, and NOTHING. I have tons of time, but getting frustrated! I'm not having my wedding at the Melia so I worry that they won't 'cater' to me as much as they otherwise would. Grr! Any info is helpful, thank you!!
  11. Marirocks, I know you are getting bombarded with questions, but one quick one for you.... did you go with Mayte's DJ? How were they?? Awesome pictures, really gave a better understanding of the restaurant and ceremony set up, thank you! And congrats!
  12. No I haven't,but I'll be checking them out! As a bit of background, it was my father who started the panic and told me about them - once I made my decision I stopped looking at reviews... I'm not changing things now!! So thank you for making me feel better and letting me know that they are good now
  13. Thanks I used Microsoft Word, but I used a template from this website: http://www.ayleebits.com/2006/06/10/diy-boarding-pass-save-the-date/
  14. Okay, I am finding choosing a wedding band to be one of the most difficult decisions I have to make!!!! I am torn between a very regular wedding band that is white gold with small round diamonds going around halfway, or something very non-traditional. I am including a picture of the non-traditional ring, but do not have one of the traditional one... you all know what it looks like though, very normal. Can you please let me know what you think about this non-traditional ring? I feel that it fits a bit better with my ring due to the slight dip, and I do not want to go the custom route as I do want to wear my band on its own. There is a larger gap with the traditional ring as it is straight. I am worried that I will regret the non-traditional ring as it is not truly a 'wedding band'. Let me know what you think! (PS it is hard to match the sapphires perfectly, another possible bonus of going the traditional diamond route)
  15. I looked into Sky Lanterns a few months ago because I saw them in a movie and was sooo excited until I read all about the environmental risks and major fire hazards. With the Jellyfish roof, I highly doubt it would be allowed, and if it is, I would be very scared to do it!! Some of them are environmental friendly and biodegradable but you can't predict wind patterns and if they are still on and hit a tree, not good.... I just don't think they're worth the risk!
  16. It's totally personal preference, but to me, I wanted to set the menu and give only a few choices just because it seems a tad more formal to me, and doing destination is already so different FI's family that we wanted to keep something traditional! I feel like there's nothing else I can do with Mayte right now... my wedding isn't till April, and I've already picked the menu, sent decorations and cake photos, decided on times, got the pastor booked, photographer booked... until people put their deposits down I can't do OOT bags.... and our deposits are due on October 3rd and no one has put them down yet (other than the 10 people we got intially). It's driving me nuts, people are so last minute!! Hopefully they'll all rush in soon!!!
  17. I'm glad it helped, it was worth posting then!! I did use those templates, they were a great help!!
  18. Hey Jwed12 I am having the same thoughts - I am wearing barefoot sandals during the ceremony and heels for the reception, but I just went with very small heels (less than an inch I think) so I will hem my dress for those heels and just have it a tad long for the ceremony... as long as your heels aren't too high you should be okay. I think too long is always better than too short..!
  19. Anyone else worried about the bad reviews of the Melia on Trip Advisor lately?!? Anyone been there recently and can say otherwise??

  21. Thanks for the input!! I agree Tiffany... this is what I ended up deciding on (it's the same as the purple but in pearls!!) My jewellery: Bracelet: Maid of honour bracelet and earings: Bridesmaids bracelet and earings: Thoughts??
  22. Thanks again! Sorry for all the questions but I don't have anyone else to ask because I want to keep the jewellery a secret from the bridesmaids, lol I am trying to figure out a way to differentiate my MOH from the rest of the girls as they are wearing the same dresses and shoes. I thought jewellery might be a good way, but do you ladies think that they should all be same style or are these okay??? MOH Jewellery: Bridesmaid Jewellery: Are these too different?? Will it look weird? Should the bridesmaids go for something like this instead? Opinions please, thank you!!!! - Alex
  23. Thank you for the input... I can't wait to see my dress again so I can make the final decision! One more question... this is the dress my bridesmaids are wearing. With this one shoulder strap, do you ladies think we should do a necklace or not?? I'm so bad with style trends and all that... Thanks again!!
