  1. Wow! You look awesome. Love the dress, and LOVE your hair!!! How long did that take???
  2. Those are gorgeous photos!!!! Congrats. What hotel did you stay at that they cleaned it for $60? That's amazing. My dress is really similar to yours with the ruffly, busy bottom. I'm glad it came clean
  3. This is a long thread, but if you read back through it, there are tons of website for ordering ideas. It seems that most brides like the environmentally friendly ones that are made out of bamboo. That website is on here too.
  4. I hear ya ladies! I was super nervous at first because people (for some stupid reason) kept telling me about all of these bad reviews that they were seeing! Yikes! Buuuuttttt.....I have heard from at least 4 different, unrelated people who have been there within the past year, that they loved it! They said to ignore everything you hear because the resort was fantastic. However, I have heard that the safes aren't "safe," so I'm not encouraging my guests to use them. In fact, I am going to steer them away from the safe. I've heard that keeping things hidden in your suitcase is a much better idea. If your guests have little suitcase padlocks, that might even be better. Even a zip-tie would do the job as long as you had clippers or something to cut it with each night. The other thing I heard is that the food is...okay. People enjoyed themselves and enjoyed the food, but after a week, it got a little old. Most of my guests are staying for 3-4 days, so I don't think the food issue will be a problem. Those were the only legit complaints though, and they still had a great time. My philosophy is, it's all about what you make of it. There will be a beach, an open bar, and a drink in my hand, and I will have a great time. Who's with me????
  5. I emailed her too and have heard nothing.
  6. Sorry...I haven't heard of Saab photography. For Diana's info...just google her. Here's her website. digitalmemoriescollection Stacey Clarke is our photographer, and she has a videographer with her.
  7. Oh no! Loud ceremony music? That would stink. With all of the weddings they do, you'd think they'd find some way around that.
  8. That looks so great! I have been eyeballing the RSVP shoes for a while. Are they comfortable? What size are you? Are they true to size? Sorry for the 20 questions.
  9. Well said, Emma Lou! Have you gotten your plane tickets yet? We just got ours last week. It's all so official now. Hotel is booked, flights are booked...no turning back! We'll be arriving on Wednesday around 11. What time is your ceremony? With it being almost December and thus, New Year's Eve, everything feels so close!! Yikes! I finally ordered my flowers last week too. I got them all from Hobby Lobby for a dollar a stem! How did I not know about Hobby Lobby before! It is a-m-a-zing! Everything going well with you?
  10. Brendee, Stupid question....but the top picture kind of makes them look silver. Are they silver or white? Also, piggybacking on Coco's question, are they true to size? Great choice though. They are fab.
  11. These are great! If I am remembering right, these look just like the Badgely Mischka shoes you were eyeing up for a while. They are the perfect substitute.
  12. Oh my gosh I don't know what I would do without you two. Okay...save-on-crafts and hobby lobby....I'm on it. Yes, Emma Lou! Please post pictures of your bouquet! Way to be on the ball. Mrs. Hamblett, my advice for songs is to start some sort of list on your phone. Every time you hear a song that you like, add it to the list. If nothing else, you'll have a great love song collection that you can listen to as the wedding approaches. We'll all be sentimental balls of goo, I'm sure. Emma. We are seriously having the same wedding. Stacey Clarke is our photographer too! I looked at tons of Jamaican photographers, and I'm so glad I went with her. She is so easy to communicate with, and I've read tons of awesome reviews. Is she doing a TTD session with you too? We are doing ours the day after the wedding on Sunday, and I'd like to go the Dunn's Falls in Ochos Rios. She said she'd even drive us there herself! Not sure how we're going to get back though lol. A lot of our family members are being the same way. We have 50 guests booked so far, and aside from my immediate family and FI's immediate family, I have an uncle and aunt coming. That's it. That is alllll of the family that decided to show up, and I have a huuuge family. All of the other guests are our broke-ass friends. It just goes to show you, it's not about money. People can make money work. Destination weddings really show you who honestly cares about you.
  13. Is your dress Essence of Australia? I love them! I almost bought a very similar one.
  14. Julie, I see what you mean about the shape. Not that it doesn't give you shape, but it's way different than your ceremony dress which is gorgeous by the way. Both are beautiful though. I like the flowy-ness of your TTD dress, and I bet your photographer could do great things with it. It also has a great train. The straps on it are gorgeous, but I'm all about strapless. If it stayed up on it's own, I'd totally lose the straps and make it a sweetheart neckline. That might do more for shape. Then you could wear a great necklace with it. I think it will look great.
  15. Emma Lou, Wow! That's so nice of you! I'll have to check with our Dj. Mics would be helpful because I hear those Caribbean breezes can make it pretty blustery. We're doing the same thing too with having our "honeymoon" there. I'm looking forward to it though even though I'm not sure how much time alone we'll have. That's what our private "suite" is for. I don't remember those individual "services" that you have to pay cash for. I'll have to ask Christina about them. I was just checking out the forum on tipping, and man! We are really going to have to come up with some extra cash to tip with. That really adds up. What does your Fi (Ah! I almost said "husband lol. Not yet!) usually get tipped? $25? $50? I'm doing the same thing as far as making flowers. I'd really like to have a bouqet of white roses and tiger lilies to carry, and then my bridesmaids would just have tiger lilies. I've been really slacking on doing research for these flowers. Right now, I think they're out of season unless I go to a warehouse that has them all year long. That might be our best best to finding what we want.I was hoping I could get them at Michael's or JoAnn's so I could use my teacher discount, but that might have to wait until next spring... Have you gotten any of yours yet? Did I ask you where you're from yet? We're from Baltimore. We're walking down the isle to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. I am obsessed with it. Marry Me is a great song though. I'm making a wedding CD as part of the OOT bags, and that will definitely be on it.
  16. Haha that will be fun. We got engaged in December, so I've been in this process for almost a year now! It's crazy, but I'm glad I gave myself the extra time. I needed to really look at my options and decide what I wanted, so I'm confident with the Riu. I'm glad to help because it is damn hard getting information out of them! We're arriving on the 20th sometime in the early afternoon. I'd love to meet up! Are you guys staying at the Riu for your honeymoon? You're welcome to check out our ceremony if you're bored on Saturday!
  17. I'm in love with these, and they are only $25. They're a little high, but I think it's worth it with some Dr. Scholl's inserts.
  18. That's beautiful! Is that the same dress that you wore for your reception, or is this a separate dress just for TTD?
  19. Are you working with Christina Dunbar as your wedding coordinator?
  20. Thanks! Yeah, I think I do understand. We have 18 rooms books and 41 people. That means we should get like 3 or 4 people for free. That would be awesome. I'm thinking that it would be good for our parents. Unfortunately, no. I never heard back! She's been so good about answering all of my other emails, but I never heard back about the lanterns. If I can't use them in Jamaica, I'm definitely going to use the floating lotus flowers at the AHR.
  21. No messy glue? Did they come with stickies on the back? Do you think they'll stay? You did a really great job, but I'm so intrigued!
  22. @Anudrm, That is so unique! You are so lucky to know someone that talented. I would hope that your dress would remain safe on here since every girl on BDW is so sweet and amazing! Speaking of which, thank you everyone for your comments! It's such a busy, unique, textured dress, and I was getting nervous after not having seen it for so long. Thanks to your generous comments, I am now super excited again! There is nothing like being in love with your dress. I can't wait for FI to see it.
  23. Hey ladies! Welcome back Mrs. Hamblett. I was wondering where you've been, and welcome Emmalou! I was pretty productive this summer I'm proud to say. Emmalou, we're getting married the same week as you! We will arrive at RMB on June 20th, but our wedding will be that Saturday the 23rd. I'd love to be a spectator at your ceremony if you don't mind. The Fi and I are doing a beach ceremony in the gazebo. Unfortunately, you cannot do the ceremony any time that you want. They have set times. I believes they are 10, 12, 2 or 4. We are having a 4:00 ceremony. It's stupid because seating for the dinner doesn't open till 6:30, but they are non-negotionable on this point. Trust me. Then we are having a private 6:30 reception at the Mahoe Bay Steakhouse. The $55 per person charge is only if you choose the special menu with the open bar. Our reception is a $1,000 flat rate (which is good for us because we'll have about 50 people), and you get unlimited beer, wine, and rum punch. The menu is pretty good. If you go to my website, I have it posted. As far as a cocktail hour, the WC said they do a complimentary rum punch while the guests are waiting as well as some fruit I believe. Other than that, the cocktail hours are absurd. Like...$25 a person or some crap like that. No thank you. We are going to let our guests enjoy the rum punch and fruit, and then they can wander to any bar in the resort while they wait. The WC said seating will not open until 6:15. The semi-private dinner is only for 40 guests max, so that wasn't going to work for us. Plus, since you are sharing the restaurant with other resort guests, they are pretty strict on music. They wouldn't even let us bring in a ipod. Finally, the dinner is only two hours, and we wanted a longer reception to celebrate. The beach receptions are like $3,000, so that was out of our price range. We are going with Stacey Clarke for photography, and we couldn't be more excited. She is so easy to talk to, and she's very flexible. She will be doing a TTD session with us on Sunday as well. Our DJ is Kevan Stewart from JA Wedding DJ. I actually heard of him from this website. He got glowing reviews from a lot of the brides. I contacted him this summer, and he seems super friendly and flexible as well. We're really excited. It was just important to us that we wouldn't have to worry about music. He's going to play during the ceremony, and then he'll have plenty of time to set up for the reception. I won't have to worry about dinner music and dancing music, and he'll do the announcing. As far as flowers, we're going to do silk as well. I might be making my own arrangements. Our colors are cobalt blue and mango. Fi and I both have blue eyes, so I wanted to be surrounded by blue in the pictures so our eyes would pop. (So vain...I know lol). Then I am obsessed with Tiger Lilies, so that's what our flowers will be. Mrs. Hamblett, what do you mean when you said that for every 10th person, the 11th is free? We have 41 people booked so far, and they told us the same thing, but I don't understand it! Does that mean that they are free the entire week? Like they don't have to pay for the room at all? Do you get to pick the people that are free, or does the resort pick? Does it matter what room they are in? What if it's an ocean view room? Is it still free? Ah! I'm so confused by this. Thanks!!!! Good luck.
  24. My dress just came in on Sunday! Here is my first fitting. I love it so much. (Excuse the back butt-crack....my corset was a size too small lol)
