Congrats on making your selection!!! I'm bummed that my fiancee and I are getting married during their only wet month! AHH!!! But we had to work it around our school schedules which left us with two weeks in May I'm keeping my fingers crossed that 2012 will be a relatively dry year!!

Kateks- Where all have you looked? My BFF is getting married at the Aventura Palace Resort just south of Playa Del Carmen and we're only paying: Double per person $1194 / $524 / $168 (7 nights/3 nights/ additional nights) Those prices include transfers from the airport. I would encourage you to contact a TA to get the rates. Don't rely on the hotel as they'll only quote you the standard rate this far out. I'm getting marriedi n the DR and was saddened at first by how much the hotels were but our TA worked an amazing deal! She even got all sorts of "freebies" incldued with the group rate. For Mexico you should contact Wendy Hicks. She's on this site and also doing my BFFs wedding. She's been great to work with! [email protected]

Do we neeed to pay for our guests to go on excursions or if they're optional do we just give guests the information and let them book?

Congrats! I'm getting married in Punta Cana May 2012 as well! There are so many places to chose from it's slightly overwhelming! In the end we selected the Excellence Punta Cana Resort because it seemed a little more intimate than the other locations. However they don't allow kids so that wouldn't work for you. We were torn between Excellence and Dreams Punta Cana. If you haven't checked out Dreams you should! They allow kids and have amazing packages! From what I read from other brides they also have good group rates!

A lot of the companies that ship from China show a picture of a dress from a magazine and then replicate it. So it really depends on the quality and level of skill of the seamstress to make a good replication. There are some dress sites online (other then ebay) that you can find amazing deals on dresses!

We chose the Dominican Republic because it offered a good amount of flight options for all our guests. Unlike some islands we don’t have to deal with a ferry or puddle jumper. Additionally for the cost I felt like we are getting a lot more than other places I’ve been and researched.

We are getting married May 18th at Excellence PC. I haven't found a photographer yet but I'd love to share if anyone else is around that time.

The wedding coordinators weren't able to quote me anythign either but I worked through a travel agent to get group rates for 2012. My TA was amazing and get everything lined up within a few days. Not only do we get a group discount we also get tons of other perks like a private cocktail hour with appetizers for the group, one person free for every ten that book (looks like my finacee and I will be going free!), along with a free upgrade for my fiancee and I, a discount at the spa for everyone in the group and other stuff. So totalyl work through a TA. I used Patty Jordan with Wright Travel Agency and she's been amazing!

May 18, 2012 Excellence Punta Cana!!!

No one should feel offended by not being there. It's the rershal dinner! Not like you're inviting them to the ceremony but not the reception.

I'm stuck in the same boat! There ar eonly like 2 girls I think I'm going to have stand up because of the size of our wedding party but like 5 others that I feel should be included!

I haven't heard of anyone doing that but sounds awesome! I lovet he smell of lavender! If you have any left over maybe you could put them in their OOT bags to keep their suitcases smelling fresh or leave them on their pillows for a good nights sleep!

Do you all have to wear the same dress? It's perfectly acceptble to pick different dresses in the same color scheme. If this is not an option I was ask the MOH to interven. This is one of her lovely duties! She shoud politely take the bridesmaid-zilla side and remind her that on her wedding day she can call the shots but as for this bride's special day she has selected the strapless dress. Then reaffirm her feelings for the bride: I know you care about her as much as I do and I really dont want us to add extra stress to her day by disagreeing on the dress.
