I'm actually working directly with the resort. I had started emailing directly to the resorts early on, but it was between the westin and divi from the beginning, they were reasonably priced for our guests. The divi's menu was definitely a strong point. Room block refers to the # of rooms the resort requires you to reserve at their rate. Your guests need to book directly with the resort, so they may need to opt out of other group deals you may be able to find. It guarantees the resort a certain amount of revenue. Hope that helps.

kfady, we were actually planning on going with the Westin, until honestly, three days ago! I was unaware of the room block business, and want nothing to do with it. I am planning on going with Divi now, just waiting for confirmation. I was actually prepared to send the Westin a deposit this week, so I'm a bit disappointed, I've spent so much time mulling over the information. But...the Divi had a fantastic dinner menu, and I especially loved the BBQ option. When are you getting married? There are definitely some great resources on this site, take advantage of them! But, let me know if you have any questions...I have a ton of info. Happy planning!

I know! Crazy!! I ordered the postcards for save the dates, hmmm..the letterhead is a fantastic idea! Btw, just to let you ladies know, I paid for 7 day shipping, and I got an email saying it was shipped and I should receive today..I put the order in on wed, about 10pm...maybe you don't need to pay to upgrade the shipping..

that's actually a really good point, it's like the charge on a bill at a restaurant when there's a group I guess, they include the tip?? I'm still allocating a tip fund, just to be safe.

Kathie, I received quotes from a couple of resorts in Aruba, and they all add a service charge. Boo! Although, I do believe that Westin was more than the Divi Aruba, but I will look through what I have and let you know.

OOoooo...ladies, for those of you in Canada, I was in Walmart last night and bought full size sunscreen for $1.50! Ok, so it's a brand I've never heard of, and it expires in 2012..but still..thought it was too good of a deal to pass up, and I've bought sunscreen on vacation before, never heard of those brands either!
