  1. we're from nyc and have about 3-4 chinese containers in our fridge at any given time! We thought it was a cute way to make our guests feel right at home
  2. interesting dilemma. I hadn't thought about that.... I had discount mugs print our monogram in brown on their acryllic tumblers. the boys are getting green straws and the girls are getting pink ones. what about putting those cute letter stickers on the lids? like another bride mentioned, you could do cute nicknames! My FI and his friends only go by nicknames (which was really difficult for me when addressing invitations... I didn't know anyone's real name!) so that would be cute
  3. we're also spending about $25 per bag. Couples will share a bag (with double of some items) and single guests will receive their own. I'll be adding some kid friendly items to the bag for those couples bringing their brood along. Here's what we're doing: Personalized Cotton Canvas bag with our monogram printed on it (it's a W in a shield so I feel like it's generic enough for people to use again) Acrylic Tumbler with our monogram printed on it in brown. Boys will get green straws, girls will get pink ones In Sickness and in Health Kits- including tylenol, bandaids, neosporin, alcohol wipes and pepto 2 bottles of water per guest Pashminas for the girls A bar of lemongrass soap (a silly gift my FI gave me on our first date) A chinese take out container with trail mix granola bar Fruit snacks personalized matches mini bottle of vodka and scotch sunblock hand sanitzer each guest will also receive a hand written note from us. We're planning on delivering them personally when guests check in This way we can say hello to everyone
  4. I know this isn't the answer you want to hear, but just wait a bit longer. I doubt that they did something shady like steal your money instead of ordering your dress. There probably is just a delay in construction. My bridal boutique told me that alterations can be done in no time (like as little as 5 days!). While that isn't ideal, at least it buys you almost 5 weeks before you absolutely have to have it. If I were you, I would show up to the Bridal Salon, in person, as soon as they open and ask to speak with the Manager. Explain to her that you are feeling nervous (like every other bride!) and that her staff isn't doing anything to offer you reassurance. Try to stay calm and not threaten to give them bad reviews. Just stay level headed and listen to what she says. If after you speak with her you still don't feel better, ask her to get on the phone with Pronovias and be included in the conversation. That should definitely give you some answers! Good luck!
  5. this is nuts! thanks for warning us all. I'm getting married in the bahamas and they told us we just need our passports. As you said, there's nothing a birth certificate can prove that a passport can't.
  6. Just got my vials! I ordered 45 and 5 arrived chipped or broken but specialitybottle.com is replacing them free of charge. They are actually much bigger than I expected but still perfect for the seating cards. We're getting hit by a hurricane this weekend so it provides the perfect time for me to work on them
  7. Looks like Paradise Island suffered minimal structural damage! The winds did cause grounds damage but that's it. I searched and doesn't look like any lives were lost! Phew!
  8. I've had a really hard time too with a couple of my girlfriends. They make me feel like I'm asking for their first born by inviting them to the wedding. It really sucks... You think your best friends would be overjoyed to help you celebrate, but sadly it's not always the case. I keep reminding myself that as long as my FI is there, that's all that matters. Same days it's easier than others...
  9. Praying for the Bahamas during this time! I hope all our venues, vendors and friends will be able to ride out this storm with minimal damage or loss of life. xo
  10. I'm doing just a table assignment. Seat assignment is just too much
  11. Yay! I feel like I solved my rubix cube seating chart issue! I too have different number of guests at each table. Most guests know at least 1 other couple but a few "ransoms" are places with peole from the same geographical area. Not having a seating chart is tempting but I've been to weddings where I didn't know many people and got stuck at an awkward table. Ultimately, I think it's worth the effort to make sure your guest are comfortable
  12. Hey Steph, How did you do your iron-on's? Was it tough?? Do you remember the type of paper you used?
  13. Awesome! Thank you so much for that tidbit! I didn't even think about that aspect!
  14. has anyone ordered the vials yet?? I'm not sure if I should order the VC4C or the VC10C...
  15. perfect thread! my fiancee and his buddies have a running joke that since Scott has waited so long to get married (he's 40 and I'm 27) that they are going to have a waiting plan in case he gets cold feet. If I were insecure, I wouldn't find this funny at all. BUT, thankfully, I know that my FI waited and held out until he found his perfect match... me so, I'm getting him flying lessons (printing out the gift certificate and folding it into a paper airplane and having our WC throw it into his suite while he's getting ready) and writing a card that says "So you can fly us into our future".
  16. so, we've been pretty trusting. If our guests say they are coming, we're planning for them to be there. There's about 3-5 guests that have given me the old "we just need a couple more weeks to decide". For these guests, I'm giving them 2 weeks (not pestering in the meanwhile) and if I don't hear from them, they'll be crossed off. As for the remaining 10-14 guests who we're tracking down, I'm really sad about the fact that haven't given our wedding the respect that it deserves. I'm shocked by a few of them. But then at the end of the day, as long as my FI is waiting for me at the end of the aisle, that's what's important. We're fortunate to have 60 guests already confirmed so those extra 20 or so guests will be just icing on the cake
  17. oh wow! He has a photo booth??? RATS! I just spent the last 2 months figuring out how to re-create the photo booth since I didn't know anyone had one in the bahamas. We are having our florist hang 3 large ornate picture frames from tree branches and putting out props (found them on etsy.com), top hats and boas. And yes, I love the mini photo shoots for guests. I'm literally trying to make this weekend Picture Perfect
  18. rats... he doesn't do same day editing...
  19. so our florist told us that 72" round tables actually fit up to 10 guests comfortably which ruined/fixed my plans. there's no way to get all the tables to seat 10 guests which have some (even) distant relation to one another so some tables will end up having 7 and some will be tapped out at 10. Like Jaykay predicted, I hope seated charts are only used up until dinner time...
  20. I sent out my STDs 9 months in advance and the actual invites 6 months before our wedding. our RSVP deadline was 4 months before our wedding.... we're still waiting for about 20 people to get their acts together...
