  1. Hi! I am also ready to book Marcel Kaiser of Glez photography for my wedding at the Riu Palace. I am wondering if anyone has used him and can provide any feedback? I checked out his blog, and most of his work has been at Dreams. Thank you! Kary
  2. Hi there, I would love to know where the brides order the real touch flowers from. I am surprised how much they cost...I have found nice ones but they are in the range of $45-100 a piece and I don't want to spend that much on fake flowers. I am having 9 girls stand up so my costs are obviously high as it is with everything else. My wedding package only covers my bouq and the bout. Please post pics too! Thanks!
  3. I would severely appreciate the details of how to make them also! My friend is going to help me make them in Adobe Illustrator but I don't know about printing them myself. I was thinking of taking them to Kinko's or someplace that can print them for me. Please also send info to me: [email protected] Thanks!!!
  4. HI Kristin! Ok we are ready for your review of the wedding!!! Please give all details and lots of pictures!!
  5. Thanks for the info Michey! I just wonder how the WP goes about contacting the girls who have the same wedding day...I wonder if they contact the person who booked the wedding the longest ago first?
  6. Hi Jen, I'm just wondering since your wedding is in a few months if you have tried contacting the WP to tell her which location you want for your reception? I know my wedding isn't until next May, but I am a crazy planner... I don't want to wait until 2 months before to figure that out with the WP, and what happens if someone else takes my spot? I just wondered if you spoke to the WP recently and if they told you that you had to wait until Sept to book the steakhouse? Thanks!! Kary
  7. Crys, Yes! It is stressful and I'm sorry that the venue isn't working out the way you had planned. However, I can honestly say that after reading pages and pages (yes I am bored at work!) of wedding reviews, it seems like every bride says despite any hick ups their day turned out wonderful I bet your day will be great, and I can't wait to see the review. Keep Breathing!
  8. I agree, I liked the idea of the Baja Norte, but was worried about the menu since it wasn't basic. If I do decide to have it at the Baja Norte, I think I would pick the beef option under Menu #4: cesar salad, bisque soup, steak fillet and chsse cake.
  9. Hi Littlemisssunshine! I am considering Suzanne for my wedding 5-12-12 and would love to see some of your pictures~! Thanks, kary
  10. Wow your wedding is next month, Very Exciting!!!! Thank you for the pictures! They were very helpful. Don Julio's looks like it will be a beautiful place for your reception dinner. I know you said you rented it for both seating's, ($1,000?) so does that include the regular menu, or do you have to pay per person for the food also? Did you decide to use a DJ, or are you just bringing your Ipod? Thanks! Kary
  11. Hi Michelle, Your wedding is fast approaching! How Exciting!!!! I am just a bit confused on the steakhouse. Is there a balcony (like the Mexican Restaurant) and a terrace on the ground level as well? Do you have any pictures? I also want our reception at the steakhouse, just as long as its an open air space. I may also be having blonde moment on the "private" definition as well...If you are paying the $1,000 for the terrace from 6:30-11:00, isn't that considered a "private event"? Otherwise you would just have a semi-private dinner for free right? Is it not considered "private" because you are having the regular menu? What does the $1,000 cover? Just the location as well as wine, beer and soda? What a rip off on the $15.00/pp for mixed drinks! We are at an all inclusive! How far in advance did the wedding coordinator contact you for your choices? I noticed that you only mentioned the English garden and the baja norte...Is the mexican restaurant taken already? When you will know for sure if you are confirmed for the steakhouse? Sorry for all of the questions, but I am a crazy planner/budgeter and not knowing the details kills me! Thank you soooo much! Kary
  12. Hi Crys, How is your wedding planning going? I think I saw a thread about stressing out about the number of people for your private reception. I really hope it works out for you! Do you happen to have a picture of the steakhouse? I am thinking of having a private reception (5-12-12) on the terrace or on the bottom deck of the steakhouse but haven't seen too many pics. It would be very helpful. You are having your reception at the steakhouse and renting the whole thing correct? Thanks!!! Kary
  13. Hi Michelle, I am annoyed by the limited of time that I will be able to plan also. We are getting married on 5-12-12. What is your date? Do you know about how many people you are going to have? Are you going to go with the semi-or private location? We are thinking we are going to have between 45-50 people. I have read so many different blogs talking about what equates to a semi-private event vs. a private one. Do you know if it is correct to say 50 people and below is semi-private, and above 50 is a private function? We originally wanted the Baja Norte but then decided it will cost too much to pay per-person especially since we a having a at home reception when we get back. I am now hoping to have a private event at the steak house but only use the regular menu and not pay per person. Have you heard of anyone else doing this? Sorry for all of the questions! Thanks Kary
  14. Hi Anichols8, Can i get a copy of the 2012 info sheet please? [email protected] thanks! kary
  15. Hi Mishele, the wedding coordinators e-mail is [email protected] . Her name is Adrian and she has been great getting back to me. Her turn around time is around a day or so. Her title is Operations Manager...so I am not sure if she is the official wedding planner or not, but she has answered all of my questions so far. Wow, you have a lot of guests booked so far for just sending out your invites! Are you having the private reception because you thought the max amount for a semi-private was 40? I really want to keep the Baja Norte but I am trying to save money since we are having an additional reception at home also. Our wedding is set for May 12th. I guess I will have to wait and see how many guests book closer to November. That is when Adrian said the menu's from the restaurants come out. We are expecting around 45-50 people. I see you are flying from Canada. Can I ask how much it is for your guests for flight and hotel from Thursday - Monday? We are coming from Detroit, MI and it is about $1300.00 per person, with $750.00 of that cost being airfare! I see a lot of Canadian brides that have their wedding in Cabo, so I was just curious if it is cheaper to go there than it is from MI. I am afraid with the high airfare prices we will have some guests not able to attend. Thanks! Talk to you soon
  16. Hi Ladies! I think that previously the limit for a semi-private reception was 40 people. I know you both mentioned Sakura as your wedding planner, but I don't know who that is. I am working with Adriana Diaz...I asked her about the semi-private reception and she said it is up to 50 people. I know that you can't have music at the semi-private so I think I am going to try to pay for the private reception cost of $500.00 and then try to just order off of the basic menu if possible so we don't have to pay a per person charge. Adriana told me that she won't really call me to discuss options until about 2 months before the wedding...I was like EEEK too! I am a total planner and want to know everything now! I asked her why I was able to book the Baja Norte so far ahead of time but not the semi-private dinner and she said it was because she keeps the private receiptions booked on a different calendar. WedCabo 33 where are you having your reception? Did both of you get a copy of the menu for the private reception choices? Do you know what you are choosing? Some of the items were a bit different, but I have never read anything bad on here about the food. Keep in touch! Kary
  17. Hi Lolita! Congrats on the wedding!!! Can you please send me the cost of extras? Its: [email protected] thanks!!!
  18. Hi Mishele! Congrats! We are gettting married at the riu palace on May 12, 2012. I would love to keep in touch with you through your planning, since we are getting married so close together! So far we are getting married on the beach at 4:00 and for now have booked the Baja Norte also, but I am thinking of changing it to a semi-private location since we will probably have around 50 guests. How many are you expecting?
  19. Thanks For the info! Unfortunately I can't open the document, it says I don't have permission to do so. Would you mind telling me how much the open bar is? Do you know if it also includes alcohol? I ask because I thought it only included beer and wine. Congrats on your July date!!! I hope you have a great review to tell all of us!!!!
  20. Hi ladies! I am very excited, just booked our wedding for 5-12-12 at the RIU Palace. I have a ton of questions though, and am too inpatient to wait on the wedding coordinator to fill me in a year from now! Please let me know if anyone has had experience with the following: We are expecting to have around 80 people come for the wedding. Since our number is over 40 we were told our reception would have to be quoted as a private dinner vs. semi-private. Almost everyone's blogs I look at have a semi-private dinner. Is there anyone out there that had a private dinner? I am curious to know how the food was, and about how much it costs. I did get an example menu from the sales coordinator, but realized that your dinner only includes wine and beer, it doesn't look like hard liquor is included.??? If so do you pay extra? We really want an outside or open air reception...So I am thinking a poolside dinner. Has anyone had one of these? Do you know what the difference is between the two pool side reception locations at the Palace is? Since we are paying for the wedding ourselves, we are torn between getting married at the RIU Palace and the Santa Fe. I am only looking at the Santa Fe because its much cheaper for the wedding package, and also our guests (we are coming from MI). Does anyone have any input on which hotel is better? Or has anyone with a large (over 40) reception gotten married at the Santa Fe? I understand they don't do outside receptions is this correct? Anyone have any wedding pictures from outside private dinners I can check out? THANKS!!
