  1. Wow what a great idea for rehearsal dinner! I would love to do that but we are having an AHR and will be broke! I bet your guests loved your idea! Thanks for your info, I really appreciate it. So glad the booze is included. I will prob have more questions for you, so thank you! Can't wait to see your pictures!!
  2. Hi Mrs. Cantature!/ Wed Cabo! Congrats, and yes, it is getting close! I will have to let you know how my experience goes I am glad that you have visited the RIU...It will be my first time there for the wedding, and I am hoping all goes well. As for the decorations- I am bringing down a ton of stuff: paper lanterns, freeze dried rose petals, chair bows, table runners, raffia fans, starfish, parasols luminaries...etc! I have not yet spoke to the WC about all of this stuff. Honestly, I have been having such issues with her I don't want to mention anything to her in fear that she will tell me "its not allowed". WedCabo~ Congrats on your wedding!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for providing us a review. I am glad you liked the Baja Norte, that makes me feel better. I would LOVE to see your pics: [email protected] (underscore btw my first and last name) Good call on the fact that we will have cake and desert...I just won't pay $8.00/pp for cake, its crazy. Bad enough we are at an all inclusive, and have to pay for everything! So how close is this Baja Norte bar? Did they charge you an additional $15.00 pp for the liquor? I know the package comes with beer, wine, soda, etc... That is terrible that your WC was no where to be found. I wonder if she was with another wedding party? My WC is new, so who knows how helpful she will be. I am renting the vases from the florist, but they are $15.00 ea...Maybe its because they are bigger or something. The florist does seem to have it together, that makes me happy. Did you have a rehearsal dinner? I am going back in forth with my WC because I want to invite all 50 of my guests to rehearsal dinner and they tell me it has to be in the buffet...But the sheet that has the private event locations with the Baja Norte on it says" rehearsal dinner applies to all of your guests since the semi-private dinner is included in your package" or something along those lines. Thanks! Kary
  3. Hi WedCabo! Thank you so much for giving us feedback! I am getting married at the Baja Norte on 5-12-12... I am a little worried about it-My WC Adriana quit and now I have Jatziri and she doesn't get back to me very quickly. I had thought about having my reception at the San Jose, but I thought that the Baja Norte seemed so much more intimate. Did you feel it was nice to have it pool side, where you could see the beach and the stars? I was nervous to have the dinner at the San Jose as well, because it didn't seem like there was much room for dancing on the terrace (we will have 53 people). I wondered if you could tell me who your dj was? We booked the one through the RIU with the lighting for $540.00. I am really hoping its not the same guy! I know Crys really liked her dj so now I am nervous! Did you tell your wedding coordinator that you were not happy with him? So when do you pay your wedding bill? Is it the day after the reception or is it before? Do they break all of the charges down for you to make sure that they are correct? Did you WC give you an idea of what your costs were going to be after you gave her your wedding checklist? I am wondering how much more they charged you for the wedding cake. I also got the Royal Wedding package and I see it says "15 of your wedding guests" Did they really charge you $8.00 per person to feed the other 15 people cake? ( thats whats on the wedding checklist) If so...they are crazy! What about the sparkling wine? I know that says its for 15 people as well...Did they end up passing out enough for everyone? Did you bring any decorations down? Sorry about the million questions, but it is so helpful to talk to someone who has been through this!
  4. Hello, I asked my WC Adriana while she was still working there and she said no sky lanterns...said too risky they are worried they may burn down property. I was really bummed...really wanted to have them On another note, I also asked about sparklers...my new WC tried telling me she wouldn't suggest me buying them b/c they are expensive and don't last very long. How expensive you ask? $35.00! I have a feeling either she doesn't know what she is talking about, or they really love to rip you off @ the RIU. Anyone else ask how much they are?
  5. hi everyone! I just wanted to give an update with my Netbride.com experience...They were amazing! I ordered my DiVinchi 50024 Dress from them and it came in perfect condition. It is exactly the same dress that I tried on at the salon. I was quoted anywhere from $900-$650 on this exact dress, and I got it for $451.00 on Netbride!!!!! I would highly recommend them. My dress came very fast in 2 months, much faster than what was promised from them.
  6. THANK YOU!!!! You are such a life saver! I would have paid $1.00 or more each to have them made, you just made my day
  7. Your wedding was amazing!!! Thank you so much for sharing your templets!!! Do you still happen to have the chap stick one? They turned out so cute, I would love to copy yours!
  8. Hello My RIU brides! Hope everyones planning is going well. I'm having a bit of a sad day...Just got an e-mail that my WC, Adriana Diaz is no longer with the RIU, and someone named Jatziri Acero is my new coordinator...oh boy! I only say this because Adriana was excellent...Although my wedding isn't until May 12, she answered my 1000 questions since January of 2011 when I booked this place. I just hope that everything goes smoothly. Anyone else have this new coordinator? On a better note, I did get what I believe to be the 2012 menu. It looks different than the ones I had before, and I have attached it for you all. Jatziri said "attaching the the menus for the Baja Norte", but I would assume that its the same menu for all private events. For those of you who are having the civil ceremony like oursleves, I tried asking how we go about the translation and aposille of our birth certificates, but didn't really get very far there. Jatziri just said "The documents you need make the apostille and translation with a certificate nortary." Ok so I am a notary and I don't know what the hell we are supposed to do! Has anyone done this? Do you just write in right on your birth certificate in Spanish next to the English info? I am also booking the DJ package for $540.00 which includes the sound system and lighting. If anyone has any feedback on this, please feel free to share Thanks everyone! Happy Planning! If you can't open attachments and need the menu for the private events, feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] (underscore btw my first and last name) 2012 Plate Menu Private.pdf
  9. Hey Girls! I did contact Adriana on a few things, and the 2012 menu is one of them. I will post it as soon as she sends it to me. Any of you actually having your civil ceremony in Mexico? I read in the docs somewhere that you have to get your birth certificates translated and apostiled (?)...So do we just make a copy of our birth certificate and write all of our info in Spanish next to it? Is there a form that the WC gives us for this? I know that I read you can get it apostiled at the Secretary of State. So what is everyone bringing down there for decorations? Has anyone got in touch with the dj, or is that something that the WC will set up for you? Any of you know if we get charged for going with a different florist? Sorry for all of the questions! I am just getting so excited!!!
  10. Thanks Crys! Did you use Cedrick? I am hpoing to give him a song list that we would like played and an ipod for back up.
  11. Hey wedcabo! Wow your wedding is coming quick! Mine isn't till May 12, but I'm getting nervous too! Are you speaking to your coordinator yet? I would think you should start getting all the details for the photo and dj soon. I see you have picked out your menu for the Baja Norte already. Do you have the 2012 menu? If so can you send it to me please? [email protected] As far as the dj I think we are going to try to use the resort one, and like you said, I Just hope he is good! I am hoping Crys or Michelle can let us know what they thought of him. How are the rest of your plans going?
  12. Hey Crys! I hope you are still checking this site! Can you tell me which DJ you went with? We were going to do our own music, but now that the wedding is getting closer I don't want to worry about it. Hope your having fun being the new Mrs! As for my future brides, has anyone booked their DJ yet? Is there one that the RIU uses? I am wondering if we decide to use someone else that isn't contracted with the resort will require the $300 vendor fee?
  13. Hi Michelle! So you are probably almost done with all of your decoration buying! Last time you wrote me you had so much! E-mail me your vision! I'm excited to see it all And I agree with Crys that we shouldn't hold our breath on the open bar response...You know how inconsistent they are there! Have you heard anything about the 2012 menu? And to answer your question, I am from Michigan (the Detroit area) its actually pretty close to Windsor Canada. ~Kary
  14. Hi Charley's Girl! Congrats on your engagement!!! I'm glad you found this site too, it is really great to be able to talk to other girls getting married at the RIU. My date is 5-12-12, actually one of the dates you are considering I am having my reception at the Baja Norte, and the prices range from $34.00pp-$56.00pp. These prices will probably change for 2012, and the last time I spoke to Adriana she said they would be working on the 2012 menus in November so they should be done with them pretty soon. Anyone have the new ones for 2012 yet? Another thing I am still trying to figure out is if the Baja Norte dinner comes with the red & white wine, sparking wine, beer, pop, water/coffee or tea like the private restaurant dinner does. When I asked Adriana, she said yes, but to be safe I am planning on being quoted the $15.00pp for the drinking portion....One thing you will find about this resort from this site is that they are VERY Inconsistent with what they tell one bride from another...they also don't always give you direct answers which drives me Crazy! As far as the photographer I am using Marcel of Glez Photography. I wasn't really impressed by the RIU's photographer, and Marcel was just about the same price. I think I am paying $1,330 for 5 hours and 250 prints that are going to be digitally enhanced. This doesn't include a coffee table book, but I will probably make my own. I want to say that Mango Productions (the RIU Photo people) quoted me $1630 for 5 hours. The only problem with using your own photographer is that you have to pay RIU the "vendor fee" of $300.00 which I think is dumb. We are not using a dj...We are making our own play list on our Ipod and bringing down our cordless Bose Sound System. That is great that you live in LA, I imagine that Cabo is a very affordable trip for everyone! We live in MI, so its about $ 1,250/pp with air for 4 nights. I think we have about 32 booked so far!! Let me know if you have any other questions, I will try to help since I have been planning for a year now and have found out most of the prices
  15. Hi Ladies! Ugh, sorry I've been MIA...Just so busy with the planning! Only 5 months, oh boy!!! I just bought my dress yesterday! I had bought a different one, and decided it wasn't the one I really wanted I kept reading about girls on here that do that and I thought they were crazy, but now I understand! I also ordered a ton of decorations for both MX and my AHR. I ended up ordering chair sashes and table runners from Tableclothsfactory.com for really cheap! $.60 for the chair sash and $2.99 for the table runners. I got them in fuchsia...but I'm having a hard time making a decision in if I should use blue instead. My BM dresses are Malibu from David's Bridal, and my accent color is fuchsia. Problem is, I LOVE pink so I feel like all the stuff I want to use to decorate is pink, and the only blue I will have is the paper lanterns and dresses! Anyone see this as a problem? I also ordered the raffata (?) fans and some luminaries from Oriental Trading Company. FYI they are having free shipping on everything today. How is everyone else's planning going?
  16. OMG! You and I are on the same page~! I bought a different dress, and will now be losing my deposit. But guess what?! You and I picked the same Maggie Dress!! Adore right?! I LOVE It!! It was also the dress I was Always thinking!!!!! I say what you say, if you don't love your dress, then get a new one!!!
  17. Hello! I am super close from ordering my DaVinchi Dress from them...It looks just like a Maggie Adore that I'm in love with. I did find a lot of positive reviews online, but I feel even better now that my BDW brides have used them and were happy
  18. Avens- I don't think you are alone in dress doubts...I just decided yesterday that my dress I had bought and paid a $270.00 deposit on was not for me. I think the problem is, is that I had another dress in mind from the get go. I am now going to order my new dress on netbride.com, and I am super excited about it! I think the difference between us is that everyone gave me that OH WOW factor when I bought my original dress, but I didn't feel that way. I bought it because everyone else thought it looked great. I didn't feel that excited about it. However it sounds like you liked your dress to begin with, and you are doubting it because you didn't get the response you would have liked. If you love it and feel great about it, then I think that's all that matters. I took my mom and sister to look at my new dress today, and they certainly didn't give me the same WOW factor that I got the first time. But I'm excited about it and that's all that matters, and if you are excited about your dress, you should be happy. By the way, it looks great on you!
  19. These turned out great!! thanks so much for all of the details, it will be helpful when I start to make mine this weekend!
  20. your place cards are soo cute! Thanks, i may have to copy
  21. Very nice! We are getting married at the Palace, so seeing pics of the next door resort is even exciting at this point! Your centerpieces were really cute too! Great idea!
  22. Thanks for sharing! And thanks for talking me into a boudoir shoot!~ I was undecided but you are right, it will be great to take pics of myself as young and looking good!
