  1. That really stinks for you!!! Our language is very similar in our contract, 1 free for every 20 booked. Our TA clarified it that people can book for any duration and we would get the average value of the 20 trips. I would even just take the 3 night value. We are going for 9 nights, so the free trip is not going to cover 1 of us, but it is at least some money towards our trip to reduce costs. That is shady business practice in my opinion that they are hiding behind a poorly worded sentence. Good luck trying to negotiate something from them!
  2. We are staying at the Suites, not the Grand. Sounds like a great rate though. We are considering transferring there after the wedding for our honeymoon.
  3. So glad that this thread has picked back up again. I had fallen off the wagon last week. I just can't get motivated to work out. I need to get back on track and make it more of a priority. It is great to have so much support and a place to come to share our struggles and successes!
  4. It is on Iberostar's website when you do a mock booking. I just called my TA and made sure they are honoring and beating the rate for our guests. We should have our first guests booking this week. The wedding is still so far away, but people booking will help to pass the time!
  5. I thought I would pass along that Iberostar is offering an early booking special right now. I know that we were able to take advantage for our wedding next July. I don't know when the special is good for or when your travel dates need to be... ok, so maybe not the most helpful. But something to look into if you are a 2012 bride to see if you qualify. A little more money back into the budget to go towards something else...
  6. Nicole told me we could sign the contract now or sign it when we get down there. We have not signed it and we confirmed 2+ months ago. Guess I better follow up on this again and double check.
  7. This is fantastic!!! Already have so many of my designs done, but I need to get this incorporated somehow. Maybe put our guests names on the top and use it as the tag on our welcome bags. It fits our personalities too and I think our guests would get such a kick out of it.
  8. We are using a TA through AAA. The free trip is actually the average cost of the 20 people who book, so it will not cover 1 of our trips, but it is money towards it. Since we are passing along some of the savings, I'll take any little bit we can get...
  9. We have a similar situation, but with 2 'perks' so to speak. We are being offered $25 for each adult that books, and then also for every 20 people that book a free trip. What we decided to do was have the TA take the $25 off of our guests' price, and then we will take advantage of the free money towards our trip for 20 people booking. This way we figure we are passing along some savings to our guests, but will have some incentive to our trip as well. 20 people is a lot of people to book to get our incentive, so it seemed fair for our guests. At least we thought so. We are not advertising to anyone that we get any kind of incentive though, so no one should ever find out.
  10. Yes, if anyone has any good suggestions I would love to hear them too. My photographer also said that there are not too many places, so I would be interested to hear where people are going.
  11. We are taking a leap of faith in choosing the Suites. We know a couple of people who have been there and the reviews are fabulous, so that just reassures our decision. Every time I hear something else good, I get more excited...
  12. Congratulations!!!! It sounds like you had a fabulous time, even with the bumps in the road.
  13. Congratulations and enjoy every minute! Look forward to reading your review.
  14. I don't think that is bad, if it is then we are crazy too... I sent our STD out 14 months before. We always promised everyone that we would give them at least a year to save, so this is just how the timing worked out for when we got engaged and need to have the wedding. I am planning on sending the invites out 5-6 months before, so that I can get my final head count at least 60 days before. Our guests might put a damper on that plan, but it is what I am trying for.
  15. I know that we are going barefoot on the beach, but I am thinking that I will plan on a wedge as a back up. That way I am covered if for some reason I need to wear shoes, but I can easily flip them off when I get to the sand.
  16. hahaha... you are definitely not behind. For the things I have done, there are many more that I have not. The dress being one of them. It is the first question everyone asks me when they ask about the wedding, so a reminder that I still have a lot to do. Oh, and I completely second that this whole work thing is interfering with wedding research and planning!
