wow, AMAZING pictures!!! and i am so happy you posted them because i am getting married at Sunset Beach Resort and Spa in Montego Bay - i will even be doing a bonfire on the beach reception like you! so it was awesome to see those pictures! funny also, i have been eyeing that exact hair flower hat you wore tas well, but wasn't sure what to do because i couldn't find a pic of it ON someone! and now i have seen yours and it looks awesome! i might just get it! congrats!!!

Hi! I can tell you lots about planning your wedding there. I have a wedding package I can send you as well, but i am at work and don't have it with me, so i will email you tonight with more info! I am doing private reception like you mentioned and it will be on a covered terrace - that's where they told me they do their private receptions. I don't know anyone before who has done it though so i am going in a bit blind. I will certainly post pictures after my wedding so you can see. I never once thought of or asked about renting out the restaurant, so you would have to ask them. As for the late replies, I get that too. sometimes they reply to my email within a day, sometimes over a week! so far though i have had all my questions answered and haven't been too stressed since there is still lots of time to my wedding - well less time now, but i started emailing them back in August when i booked.

holy moly, i spent my evening reading through this entire thread and then i placed my order! my wedding is still a couple of months away, but i really want to see the suit on my FI before he leaves back to our hometown where he is going in 2 weeks! And then i won't see him until we go to Jamaica! So i asked in the comments box if i could have the suit in 13 days, by Feb.. 28! we'll see what happens i guess. if not, i will get the suit here, see it, then ship it to FI. Based on ALL the comments, i found there were quite a few stories of people who did not do the measurements accurately and had to take the suit to a tailor to get fixed. So because of this and because i was not confident in my own measuring skills, I went with the pre-set sizes. I saw that a couple of other brides on here did that as well. I did not see any pictures though, so i promise - if it arrives on time - to get a picture of FI in his preset sized suit and post it here. If i don't do it in 2 weeks, i will post them after the wedding for sure! I went with the Beige Linen because there was someone on here who had that color and FI and I both thought it was the best one. that's all for now - wish me luck that all goes well!!

it looks awesome!! so did you get one of the pre-made ones? when you say regular fit - does that mean the regular length? and if so, how tall is your fiance? i am not sure if i should get short or regular since my FI is about 5"7. thanks!

no problem! i started it because i was bit depressed/upset about my small wedding.. but after reading everyone's replies, I felt MUCH better and could not be more excited for my wedding....we are not at 17 people including bride and groom. and i think its perfect! in fact, i don't think i want more than 20!

all, you gals are convincing me! i am wondering though since my wedding is in less than 3 months and by the time my wedding comes i will NOT know when i will be in my hometown. is it weird to only annouce it AFTER the wedding? i think it is. i am thinking i should put a note on our wedding website (and send a message out from our website since i highly doubt people actually check for updates) that we will be planning an AHR in the summer, but cannot yet give a date as we don't know our schedule yet. i'll mention that it will be casual and the point will be to celebrate with all those who could not make it to the DW. any other ideas for how to do this?

i asked someone i work with, at first she said she would think doing an AHR 3 months after the wedding would be weird and could be seen as a gift grab. But when i explained it would be very informal, like backyard BBQ kind of thing, not an actual wedding reception, she said it was fine if i called it "celebration of marriage"

Our wedding is April 19th 2011. Invitations were sent out a few months ago. I had my bridal shower in december when i was home for the holidays and pretty much never told anyone that we would do an AHR because I was never planning to. The reason i was never planning to was because my fiance and I moved from east to west coast for my internship last summer and we may stay here another year. So basically we will see some people in Jamaica for our wedding in April, then come back to the west coast. I am wondering if we visit home/east coast in the summer, would it be too late to have an AHR reception then? Like in July or August? It would be pretty informal since we won't have money for anything fancy, but at least could do a slideshow of our pro pics. I basically gave up on the idea of an AHR but since more and more people are declining coming to Jamaica, including one of my bridesmaids and FIs sister.....I am kind of wishing we were having an AHR. What do you think? Would it be weird now to spread the word that we are potentially going to have one?

oh, i am also not having an AHR, so this is my only chance to have those traditions and moments

thanks for the feedback! i actually edited the makeup part out already , this was my final product: We recently had some guests inquire about what to wear to a wedding on the beach, so here goes: The wedding is "beach formal" What does this mean? Basically, anything you'd wear to a nice restaurant on a summer day is appropriate. Here are some suggestions: He could wear: A light weight, short sleeve, button up shirt (no ties or jackets required), linen pants or khakis, and sandals. (There are a couple of restaurants at the resort which require men to wear long pants as well). She could wear: A summer sundress and flat sandals. In sum, we are having a No jeans / No shorts affair. Most important, we want you to be comfortable and enjoy yourselves!
