  1. Hey ladies! I am getting married on January 24th 2012 at Dreams Puerto Vallarta, Mexico! I am well into the planning process, bought my dress a couple of weeks ago and so far have around 50 guests attending with us. Couldn't be more excited!! Hope everyone's planning is going well. Kate
  2. Hi Lizajane, I am getting married in PV at Dreams Resort and Spa on January 24, 2012, not at Caletas, but I'm sure we all have similar experiences. We sent out a STD magnet to all of our guests (around 200 people) in August 2010, we did not ask for an rsvp on this. We had our website info on the STD and had a lot of details on price estimation, resort etc (price stayed the same-we changed locations and resorts though lol). We sent out Invitations in February 2011 (11 months out) and asked that all deposits through the group be made by March 25th to our TA (for those who booked - this would be they're rsvp), we set an official RSVP date for October 31st so that people could find last minute travel deals if they wanted. To save money on postage (and because maybe half of people actually send their rsvp's back) we decided to have our rsvp set up on our website. As of right now we have around 60 guests that will be joining us in January (around 40 through travel agent, others have time shares they will be using and some on their own). So I guess we had just over a quarter of our invited guests who will make it. My TA said that its generally less than half of all invited guests who end up going. We personally did not send out "B list" invitations (second round) as we found this to be a bit rude (from my experience with friends who did this- they always find out) so we decided to just invite everyone in the first go, this is just my opinion though. Hope this helps. If you have any questions feel free to pm me. Kate
  3. Congratulations on your wedding m1984! So happy for you that everything went well and that Eleane was there for you throughout it all. I could only imagine what she has to go through with her job, poor thing, she sounds like a sweetie. Those little gestures of appreciation go a long way and I really think that we should all try to do this for everyone who has put time and effort into helping us, i know my TA will be getting a big bouquet of flowers! Just wondering if anyone has looked into using an outside wedding coordinator at Dreams and whether you thought it was worth it for flow/decor etc? I already have most of my vendors picked so was considering getting one to help me with favours/decor/timeline etc on the day. I am from Canada and am worried about shipping things like vases and other breakable decor down to Mexico (that and like many of you have mentioned it would cost an arm and a leg) so I thought that an outside WC might know of a cheap place to rent these items from or could go check out the Walmart etc for me so I wouldn't have to worry about it from up here. Also, I remember Mishka Designs has wrote on this forum that the old WC Rebecca mentioned that the policies are different if you use an outside WC (see below), does anybody know whether this still applies?
  4. Wowza, I never heard that Esman was leaving. I sent him an email a few days ago with more questions, do you know whether they are using the same email address ([email protected])? Hopefully the new coordinator is able to keep up with all of us and we don't have to deal with any more changes. Keep positive Dreamgirls
  5. Andi I absolutely love your pictures! Your photographer did a great job. Would you recommend them? Any other great photographers out there any of you ladies would recommend for a decent price?
  6. In regards to spa pricing, Esmeralda sent me the all the spa pricing info. Bridal hair is $59 USD, Makeup is $49 USD. Make sure to make your reservations with the spa asap as they book up fast and I heard that they wont accept walk-ins. all guests need to book any treatments before arrival.
  7. Here is another site with individual packaged first aid supplies: https://www.first-aid-product.com/industrial/products1.htm they do ship internaitonally for oders over $100.
  8. I will try my darndest! I am just waiting for a reply right now. Also, I keep trying to get an answer on how to get the Wine Cellar one evening but he never asnwers that question. Do you girls know? I assume just sweet talk to the waiter one night to reserve it for us or show up extra early and request it while promising to buy extra wine...
  9. So I just asked Esman about the bonfire on the beach and he told me $400! Didn't all you ladies pay $300!? grrr... I hate how they're always changing their prices around like this. I'm going back to him and saying I've heard from multiple other brides that they paid $300.
  10. I am also a Dreams PV bride, we are getting married on January 24th, 2012. We booked our date last month with the resort and had 10 deposits ($200 each) put down with our TA to ensure our rate in mid Feb, all other deposits are due at the end of this month and total cost due mid August (early booking bonus). I would suggest getting on it as soon you can. We are having our guests have their deposits in by end of March because thats when my TA said flight schedules come out and this way we are guaranteed a spot on the flight before anyone else. I would definitely call around to different TA's.... there's no way that those dates are correct.
  11. Happy St Patrick's Day my fellow Dreamgirls. May your pockets be heavy and your heart be light, may good luck pursue you each morning and night. xoxo Kate
  12. Hi Lea, Congratulations and welcome to the forum! Unfortunately, Dreams PV does not allow reservations for the A La Cartes and any private or semi-private function for that matter costs extra. Some of the dreamgirls have decided to have a welcome bonfire (not sure of the cost) so maybe one of them can give you details on that. They also have a wine cellar in the italian restaurant but I think that costs $200 and only fits a small group. I am also wanting to do welcome drinks with my guests but haven't really looked into it a whole lot yet. At this point I am just planning on having it in the rendez-vous bar and just getting there early to reserve some spots and do it really informally. Has anyone else done this? Is there any way that Esman would reserve some tables for that without a cost? Hope this helps Kate
  13. Have any of you ladies asked Esman or any past WC about the wine that is served at the reception? Most of the AI FI and I have been to all have pretty terrible house wine and we would really like to have good wine at our wedding. I have read in this forum that you can purchase bottles of wine through the resort- any idea how much these are? Have any of you asked whether you were allowed to bring in your own wine that you bought in PV? Also, we are wanting to do a tequila shot (or sip for some) for the bestman's speech - do they provide good quality tequila for this or would we have to pay extra? or bring in our own? Thanks!

  15. Hi Sarahinlove, Before Louise left I asked her about this as well as I didnt think it added up at all. This is the convo: Me: After reviewing your decoration package 1, it seems that the cost is actually over the amount I would pay for 20 people separately. Is there no discount for a decoration package? Can I create my own? Louise: The décor package are cheaper than renting individual items. You can create your own yes. Let me know what you had in mind for décor and I will send you a quote. Me: Can you please break down the prices so I can see, I can't see how this adds up: Tiffany Chairs: $7 x 20 pax= $140 Napkins: $7 x 20 pax = $140 Overlays: $15 x 3 (20 pax divides into 2.5 tables of 8) = $45 Hanging Lanterns= $80 Votive Candles= ? Are these big centerpieces or just small tea candle holders? The rest only adds up to $405, so unless your votives are well over $70 I do not see the bargain. Louise:You also get luminary candles all around the reception, lanterns to line the ceremony aisle, overlays on your cake table, guestbook table, ceremony table and headtable, and votive candles on all guest tables, head table, cake and guestbook table. Perhaps our description should be more detailed.
  16. That's a great idea kerrib. Just bring some ribbons and pins from home and you can have a fun couple hours with your girls making their bouquets... drink in hand of course Regarding the menu- I thought we were only allowed to pick one option (unless vegetarian/kids/gluten free). Did you give all your guests an option from the 4 or 5 they offer or just pick 2 or 3 and give them that? Anyone know if we can mix and match? ie. salad from one, main from another? Thanks for all your help ladies. I love this forum!
  17. Hi everyone! I've searched the forums and can't seem to find any reviews or recommendations for DJs in PV. Has anyone heard of Reventon Dj?? or do you have any suggestions for me? I am getting married at Dreams Puerto Vallarta on January 24, 2012 and I want to bring in my own dj instead of using theirs as they haven't gotten the best review
  18. Where do you plan on getting these? I really like the idea but am worried about bringing them over the boarder (I'm in Canada getting married in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico)
  19. or seeing that Minot is close enough for you to drive to (since you were already going to Calgary) then maybe you could find cheaper flights from there? or Billings?
  20. Hi Sarah, Sorry to hear about your struggles, I couldn't even imagine what you must be going through. Did you get wedding insurance? If you are not overly attached to a June wedding then maybe postpone it into November when all the major travel agencies are flying out there again. I am in Regina and I understand that we do not have nearly as many options as other cities in Canada for getting down there. We are getting married on January 23, 2012 at Dreams and are going with Sunquest. I hope everything works out for you, stay strong.
  21. Does anybody know whether you can use an outside coordinator for a wedding at the Barcelo? This would alleviate all the stress and nonsense of dealing with the on-site coordinator. Littlemisssunshine - where are you having your ceremony and reception then? Is it similar pricing? Do you recommend your WC?? Thanks for all your help ladies. Barcelo looks like such an amazing resort and it is truly a shame that they have such poor wedding service.
  22. Love the vintage one! I really wanted this type of dress for my bridesmaids but wasn't a big fan of the matte jersey look, it wasn't quite formal enough. I think the satin jersey will be perfect. Thanks for the great find!

I have just sent out my STDs (12 months in advance with travel agent info. on it). However with my locked in rate with Dreams all guests must book 45 days in advance ...SO when should I send out invites? I want people to have plenty of time to reserve rooms before they either are all booked and hopefully do not run out of rooms as I know Dreams tend to fill up quickly. Ok ladies let me know.... I am just afraid of Dreams running out of rooms or people not having enough time to book rooms. Hi adventurelovers, you can search invitation timeline on the forums and you'll find that there is no set rules for sending out invitations, it completely depends on you and how much advanced notice you want to give your guests. I am also planning on getting married in January of 2012 and plan on sending out my invitations as soon as I have confirmed my resort and pricing as my guests will only have a limited time to have their deposits in by (I will likely send them out 10 months before the wedding). Hope that helps.
