  1. I just booked my bonfire for the night before the wedding in lieu of a rehearsal dinner, super pumped! Did anyone rent any equipment for slide shows or anything like that?
  2. OK So I made my final decision on what colour to dye my shoes and I ordered my barefoot sandals off of Etsy today! I am 5'10" and having my ceremony/reception on the beach so can't be wearing super high heels. Here they are: I am having two pink orchids in my hair and I wanted to have my shoes match the middle colour: My Bridesmaids will be wearing the Sseko Designs shoes in Champagne Ivory. I love these shoes as they will go perfectly with their convertible dresses!
  3. They said they would do it free of charge, just had to let the bartenders know what it was. We are making up little signs with our signature shot, martini and cocktail, all with original names (we haven't decided 100% on what those are yet so will share later). Darn it! Do you know if they make martinis at the resort? If they don't have it then maybe we can just go down and tell them to make me a purple martini and I'll use that instead. I will get Fatima to ask the Food and Beverage Manager though. Thanks for the heads up!
  4. And for those ladies wondering how the purple cocktail making went, we decided on a drink that is called Arabian Nights (says my bartender bridesmaid who helped me make it), it is blue curacao, raspberry sour puss, and vodka... it turned a gorgeous dark purple! Then I will have the bartender serve it with a twist of lime on the rim to incorporate my lime green colour. Here's a pic of my inspiration: It is fairly sweet so I think people will only be able to handle a few... or I could just tell the bartender to amp up the vodka....
  5. Hey ladies, Just a quick question for you past brides- did any of you not use the bamboo runner for your aisle? I am not wanting to use it but I am worried that I will have to because the sand will be too hot to go barefoot on (our ceremony is at 3:30pm), thoughts? Also, I am having a Shoes Optional/De-Sanding station for my guests to go barefoot and I don't want them to burn their feet either. Thanks
  6. Quick question for you: these luggage tags need to be laminated, are you getting your guests to fill out their names etc themselves and laminate them or are you filling out all of their information and laminating them then sending them? Do you have a laminater or are you going somewhere to get them laminated? thanks
  7. We are also waiting until summer to have our AHR. We will be having it at my parents farm on June 26th so about 5 months after our wedding. I think its perfectly fine to do this.
  8. Thanks ladies! I was so worried about it and am just ecstatic that it turned out so well. I owe it all to my seamstress, I know it took her a long time and was not easy
  9. Not a lot of activity on here lately ladies. How is everyone doing on their planning?? I just put in a vistaprint order yesterday for my lawn signs, pre-travel brochures and luggage tags. There's a big 80% off sale right now if any of you were waiting on that to order. I will be ordering most of my OOT bag items within the month here so I am just trying to finalize all of those choices right now. I had my second dress fitting last week and had the neckline of my dress completely altered and am soooo in love with it! Couldn't be happier that I changed it. FI will be ordering his and his groomsmen's outfits from studiosuits.com within the next few weeks. Most of my bmaids live out of the province and will be visiting this weekend for thanksgiving so I will be doing their measurements for their dresses on Friday. I am buying a bunch of different types of liquor and we will be attempting to concoct a signature purple martini for the wedding on Friday night too, can't wait! Next Thursday I go in for lasik eye surgery to correct my vision, I am super excited to never have to wear glasses or contacts again, yippeeeee. Hope all is going well with you and your planning. And to all my Canadian brides, happy thanksgiving!!
  10. Kya, now you got me wanting to show off my alterations! I loved my dress but I wanted a different neckline to show off my curves a bit better so I had it completely altered. Here are my before and afters! Before neckline and beaded applique were added: After: Close up of neckline and applique: I am sooo happy I changed it, I LOVE the new neckline! much more me And here is the back, I am doing an open back so I had her take out the corset panel and put in a small one to cover my lower back.
  11. Great dress! You look stunning. I'm sure your cousin was very grateful to have you around helping them, that was very nice of you. As for the favours, I am in the same boat so I just made a list of everyone who has for sure rsvp'd and booked and those who are on the fence and I am just going to order enough for both so that in case everyone does come (which is unlikely but I'm sure a few will) I will be prepared. Plus, its always good to have a few extras as accidents do happen...especially when hauling items from cold Canada to hot Mexico- trust me, I've lost many dear sculptures and masks etc from this change in pressure and temp (I have a hard suitcase and these items were very carefully wrapped so I know it wasn't from hard handling). Anyways, I know its a pain in the butt but its better to be over prepared than under, then whatever you don't use I'm sure the girls on here would love to buy off of you! Good luck with your planning.
  12. FYI HUGE vistaprint sale on right now! Finally ordering all my goodies. yayyy
  13. Yes it's a small lawn sign from vistaprint, you can buy the stand but I'm going to borrow one from my resort. Dimensions are 18" x 12"
  14. Hey, Planning is coming along great so far! Had my second dress fitting last night and LOVE my dress, I had the neckline completely altered so I was quite nervous but it came out better than I expected. Yay! My mothers best friend threw me a shower on Sunday and it was great, they didn't do the traditional style where everyone brings small gifts, they gathered $20 from each guest and had everyone sign a card then she presented me with the money and told me to chose whatever large item my fiance and I wanted from our registry! I was so excited as we have lived together for years and have a beautiful house with most of those "small items" already so we were thrilled that we got to go out and pick out some of the more expensive items that we may not have gotten otherwise. So the next day we went to Costco and purchased the new Pet Roomba (robot vacuum), a food processor/blender, a wine kit (we love to make wine!) and still have around $120 left so not sure what we're going to get with that but I'm sure we'll find something we love! What a great idea, I was so impressed with her! As for my decor planning, I am halfway done "accessorizing" my rafia fans with ribbon and mini silver starfish pendants, I just ordered a bunch of stuff off of Etsy like a personalized photo guestbook, my rehearsal dress, passport covers for my bridesmaids, shoe clips for my bridesmaids, Senor/Senora chair signs and a real touch orchid hair flower, then off Amazon I bought the Fujifilm Instax 210 camera with 5 packs of film. I will be ordering my big OOT purchases in about a month as my parents go down to Arizona for 6 months out of the year so I will have everything shipped to them as its MUCH cheaper than getting it to Canada. I am waiting on a sweet sale from Vistaprint to do my ordering but here are a few items I will be getting: Here are my brochures and luggage tags that I will be sending out probably at the beginning of December! Sooooo excited! And here are the lawn signs for my bonfire and Shoes Optional station: And finally, here is one of our menus (I had a vegetarian one that is the same just different options), I've ordered these already: So much more to do but am loving all this planning! Hope you ladies are enjoying it as well, good luck to each of you!
  15. Do they have little bottles and big bottles? do you know the cost off hand?
  16. Awesome, that would work out perfectly. So Mbowling are you willing to split the cost however is fair and ship the rest to us?
  17. Hey! I'm in Saskatchewan and would love to split them with you, I only need 60 of them. Maybe Sharon99 wants to go three ways on these?
  18. Thanks for your help, your pictures are wonderful. Dazzling Details did an amazing job!! The barracuda bar is fairly close to the Seaside beach where our reception will be so I didn't know if it was just a better idea to cut the $15 extra a person at the end of the night and have people go get their own drinks or just suck it up and pay for it. I think you're right though that we don't want people constantly gone getting drinks and this way they can't pick up any stragglers at the bar and bring them back haha. Yes I think I will just suck it up and pay... you only get one chance so do it right! Thanks again.
  19. In my experience with all inclusives, I have never seen any of them use one of those machines, they always blend them right in front of you so I would imagine Dreams which is nicer than many of the ones I've ever stayed at would as well True Mexican margarita!! yummmmmm
  20. Question for all you past brides: For those of you who had a reception longer than the 4 hours, did you pay for the extra hours of bar service or did you just have people run to the nearest bar to get drinks after the 4 hours was up?
  21. We are also getting the ultimate package and none of the cocktail hour stuff is included so I am paying for lounge furniture and some cocktail tables, I am not getting the chairs around the tables because I want people to be mingling and not sitting- they will be sitting during supper The tables are $50 each and each set of lounge furniture (2 sofas that seat 3, 1 chair and a table) are $165. I have around 50 guests so am getting two sets of lounge furniture for the older people to sit in and 5 cocktail tables. Are you having your cocktail hour and reception at the same place? We're having our reception at Seaside Beach and cocktail hour at Las Palmas so they are charging us an additional $150 to move all the furniture from the cocktail hour back to the reception. I think if you have it in the same spot then they just assume your guests will sit at the tables or mingle. We didn't like the idea of having the tables messed up before the ceremony started and we wanted a change of location too. Hope that helps.
  22. This is what Fatima sent me as a set up example for Las Palmas Cocktail hour. Looks like it has the tables for the reception set up in the background. Hope it helps!
  23. or just: Colin, for you to remember the day we always dreamed of. Nothing will ever compare to our crazy love. Forever yours, Kate
  24. Wow, that's really good! Thanks! I'm going to tweak it a bit: They say a pictures worth a thousand words, and nothing compares to our crazy love. Keep this book as a reminder of the day we always dreamed of. or, They say a pictures worth a thousand words, keep this book as a reminder of the day we always dreamed of.
