Wedding colors????
edub007 replied to Outdoor_girl1010's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I went with three colors and had the same fears as you. In the end, I loved have all three colors! I decided on my wedding colors in part by what looked good on my bridesmaids (red head, brunette, and blonde) and I knew I wanted vibrant colors to add to the beach scene. I then matched the flowers to the dresses and went from there with all my decorations. -

Here a couple pics of the chair bows I used as Huppa fabric (coral, clover, and royal blue). I had 4 chair bows of each color on the huppa (2 on each side). They're not the best pics, but they give a decent idea of how it looked. I had multi colors to match the girls dresses (the clover wasn't quite bright enough, but I didn't mind as the other two were perfect)

I ended up purchasing 4 chair bows of 3 different colors to use as my huppa fabric at $0.59 per bow. They worked great and I saved a lot of money!

out-of-town [oot] bags
edub007 replied to tlomlad's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I took pictures of pretty much everything I included. When I started, I decided to make everyone a simple customized beach bag (this is one of the things I seem to always forget to bring with me!) I then tried to pick out a couple cute items to put in it; the flip-flop luggage tag, the sea shell candles with matches (every room at my resort has a spa tub, so I thought they would be romantic). Next, I also decided to include a handover kit; ibuprofen, Emergen-C, G2 mixers, Rolaids, and sore throat remedy (works for the “hangover voice†- lol). Next, I was decided to add a few items that people are likely to forget but would come in handy; travel kleenex, aloe vera, shout wipes, q-tips, bandaids, and hand sanitizer (I also tried to find bug repellent but had not luck). I then ended up adding the toothbrush, paste, floss picks, sunblock, and chapstick (SPF 15) since those would be important items if forgotten. I just about threw in a razor too, but decided I was getting carried away. After all, there is a Wal-mart within walking distance to our resort! Since I didn't fill the bag completely, I bagged the items together; one bag marked as a "hang-over" kit and one as toiletries". I put the kits in the beach bag, folded the sides of the bag around them, and tied it all together. Hindsight being 20-20, I wish I had just stuck with unique and fun items; bags, luggage tags, candles, bath salts, G2 mixers, and personalized koozies. I also love the postcard idea I read about in this post! -
Similar lanterns are sold every (look for Kate Aspen Mini-lanterns) but I wanted the hangers with them. http://www.creativeweddingfavors.com/lanterns-with-hanger-favors-ws8462.html

My resort wants to charge me $150 per color to put fabric on the hubba. Wow! I am looking into purchasing and bringing my own fabric.

I talked to my WC about renting vases from the florist decorated with ribbon. I will have my bridal bouquets put in these vases on the reception tables. I plan to bring small lanterns, sea shells, sea stars, and glass rocks to put around the vase. This way I don't have to bring anything very breakable and don't have too much to bring. The Royal Playa del Carmen - Very Long!!!!
edub007 replied to loanmao's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
I am getting married at RPDC in April and am so excited, but so lost as to all the planning options I have. This forum is helping a ton, but have a question for other brides. Basically, my co-worker is also planning a destination wedding in November. I booked my resort last June and she just booked hers in February. Right away, she was given a document outlining everything she would need to know about options, setup, special requests, and a timeline of when she needs to plan/reserve various aspects of her wedding. I have never received anything like that from my wedding coordinator. It makes me nervous! The website has some downloadable .pdfs, but nothing really outlining how we can get started planning. Until I got on this forum, I just assumed we would discuss all my flower, decor, centerpiece, and menu options when we arrived. I did e-mail my coordinator, Denisse, to ask her if they have any documentation to fill out like my co-worker received and asked what I need to book in advance. My question for other brides is, how helpful/forthcoming was the resort when you were planning your wedding? Here are the questions I sent to the coordinator. You can see how clueless I still am! I thought it might be easier for me to send you all my questions/requests together rather than sending out individual e-mails. I hope I don’t overwhelm you but want to make sure I don’t forget anything! The website doesn’t seem to have much information and I haven’t received any additional information. If I am missing something, feel free to let me know. Ceremony What will the ceremony chairs look like; white folding chairs or covered chairs? Do they come with a bow as shown on the website or do bows cost extra per chair? Are there other selections or upgrades? If I can choose a colored bow, I would like one of the colors in the picture below; coral (preferred), clover or royal blue. If I bring programs, can these be placed on the guests’ chairs during setup or do I need to put them there myself? Do I select my own ceremony music and, if yes, will someone be available to play it for me from my iPod? Can I select my ceremony script for a legal ceremony or do I have to go with a defined script? How long does the ceremony typically last? Private Reception What will the tables and chairs look like for the reception? Will they include linens? Centerpieces? How many people sit at one table? Are there any color selections or upgrades available? When do I select my menu items? Will the reception begin at a certain time or immediately following the ceremony? I know we already reserved the dance floor and an iPod sound system for music (thank you!). Will the champagne toast and cake be part of the reception? Ceremony Flowers The bridesmaids are wearing three different colors; coral, clover, and royal blue. I would like to have four bouquets; one for the bride and three for the bridesmaids. I would like the bouquets to be made similar to the one in the picture below. Specifically, I would like it to include coral Roses, fuchsia and yellow Daises, green Cymbidium Orchids, and blue Hydrangeas. I also don’t mind pink or yellow freesias, or pink, fuchsia, or yellow roses if needed to make the bouquet full. I would like four boutonnieres; two with a coral rose (similar to A12), one with a green cymbidium orchid, and one with a blue hydrangea. I would like a ceremony centerpiece made out of these same flowers; something similar to CP24 but, of course, with the flowers listed above. I would like a bag of coral rose petals spread across the walkway for the ceremony. Can someone spread them out during setup or will I need to do this myself? Cake I am also wondering about the cake. I am paying for a cake and champagne toast for each guest. What sort of cake is included with this? Am I able to pick out the decoration for the cake? If yes, I think a simple white frosting with flowers like the one above will be perfect. Photography and Videography I have a family member who is taking picture for me, so I will not need any of these services. Hair and Makeup We have already scheduled the appointments that are needed. Thank you! Bills I would greatly appreciate it if I could receive and estimated bill based on this information. Opt1.bmp -
I purchased a knock-off wedding dress that was shipped from China. I had fallen in love with an Oleg Cassini dress at David’s Bridal. I have not had good experiences at David’s Bridal and wanted to save money so I ordered the knock-off at StopDress.com. Before I purchased it, I had contacted customer service at StopDress to ask what the difference is between the knock-off dress and the designer’s dress (they can't match 100%). The reply I recieved was that the shape of the beading and flower attached to the dress would be slightly different. I can live that as it was more the soft ethereal feel of the gown I had fallen for and I would be fine with a slight change in the embellishment. I sent in my order and within 3 weeks, I received my dress. It arrived in a small plastic mailing pouch. I was nervous as first wondering how they squeezed a wedding dress into that tiny pouch, but was pleased to discover the dress expanded when opened. It was inside-out in the packaging so I noticed right away as I pulled it out that the interior stitching was excellent. I turned the dress right-side out and was pleased with the structure and design. It was a really well made dress and the fit was absolutely perfect (I had sent my measurements). However, I was disappointed with the exterior fabric. The designer’s dress was covered in layers of soft, subtle tulle but the knock had been created in shiny organza. This was disappointing to me! I was also not too happy to discover they had replace beading with silver sequins; nothing against sequins, but they belong on dance costumes, not wedding dresses. I contacted the company right away with my complaints and was given the run around (I attached a dialog I had with a representative at the company). In the end, I did not keep the knock-off dress and instead purchased the designer’s dress. I did sell the knock-off to a bride who loved the dress and had all of my money returned. All in all, I would say you will most likely be very pleased with a knock-off dress if you don’t have preset expectations (e.g. know that it will not be the same as the designer dress you tried on, but it will be similar). I fell in love with an Oleg Cassini dress at David's Bridal, but the price was more than I desired to spend. I spent some time researching knock-offs and reading blogs from other brides who had ordered them. I ended up purchasing a knock-off of the dress from StopDress.com (made in China). I got the knock-off dress and the fit and stitching was just amazing... it was perfect, better than the designer. But, having fallen in love with the real thing, I found that the knock-off fabric and beading was not the soft, charming feel I'd fallen in love with. I ended up selling the knock-off dress for the price I paid on weddingdressmarket.com. I do believe that had I never seen the designer dress, I would have loved the knock-off, particularly if there was no beading involved.
