I have never heard of doing the catamaran for your reception(I am having mine in the spice terrace) but it sure does sound like it would be fun! I think it wold be fun to rent one for an afternoon to take all my guests out...hmmm I will have to look into this, thanks for the idea!

Sheen811 I am getting married at Excellence Playa Mujeres & they told me the same thing. I have to contact my WC for pricing and booking....I just hope they dont hike up the price on us. Have you figured out what you are going to do & was the hotel able to book them for you at a reasonable rate? I would love to know which DJ's were loved or hated also. Thank ladies!

My resort recommends them as well. I too have heard mixed reviews & would love to know the name of the DJs that you had. Thanks! I plan on emailing them now to see if they have my date available, hopefully they wont tell me to go through my hotel since I would imagine that would be more money to do.

Thanks for all the info ladies. I am starting to search for a DJ now & am debating on using someone from Mood Event Services with all the positive feedback you have given. Music is very important to us for the reception. Can't have crappy music!!

I love 1 and 2! 1 is on my list to try on but now I may add 2 as well sine its so pretty! I think 3 is pretty but I don't like how the bottom cuts off. This is hard you look gorgeous in really all 3 but 1 and 2 hmmmm I think I would go with 2 and it looks like you really don't need much alterations on it either! Good luck with your decision. So hard since they all are so pretty! Let us know what you pick!!

Wow! That's a long time! Lucky! Thats great some of your guests are staying that long Kind of stinks for you now that you have to leave! I guess its good to see other places though! My FI would definitely not do 2 weeks. If you are looking for a great resort I totally recommend mine. Maybe I will do 10 days Sunday - Tuesday with a few tours. I stress about the dumbest things. Good thing I am not doing a traditional wedding!

Thanks for the reply! Yeah that's with tax and if the air is around 400. We shall see. Good to know that your guest are ok with the price. That's great! I am concerened that some of our friends and family will think it's too much. I don't think it is but a few are some what cheap!

We are not doing 2 separate resorts, just staying at the same. We are getting married on a Thursday & plan on going the Sunday before but not too sure on when to come home. I want to stay as long as possible but FI gets antsy after laying on a beach for 5 days. He was thinking Sunday - Sunday but I wasn't sure if that was long enough seeing as some of our guests said they were staying a week as well....was curious as to what everyone else was doing. Also, the rates we received were high as well but I think its because its too early. Our rate is about $1200 pp. The airfare isnt out yet(for me) and no promotions or specials are running for next year yet either. We blocked rooms so we can get the discounted prices when they go on sale....I think most resorts offer special freebees when you have a certain amount of guests & meet requirements.

JenFL yes there are group discounts. They require you to block a minimum of 10 rooms to get the group discount and once they are blocked ifwhen there are promotions or specials you & your guests will get the cheaper rate. The also have free nights & other specials if you meet certain requirements ex: 20 rooms booked or something like that. We just blocked 10 rooms since I have no idea how many people will be coming yet. SparkleSun are you ready?!?! Do you need to do anything when you get there? I am so excited for you...I have so many months....I wish it was now!! ps- just checked the weather for there & its showing sunny 80s!!! I have so many questions for you but I will wait to read your review! lol!!! Are you getting your hair & makeup done at the spa? I a going that route & was just curious.

aww Congratulations!! Don't worry I went last year & the forecast called for rain everyday too but it only showered 1 day in the morning then by the afternoon it was sunny! I hope everything is beautiful for you! If it does rain, its good luck and the gazebo is beautiful too! Can't wait to hear about your special day!

Excellence playa mujeres in Mexico has a great gazebo. It's where we are getting married. The weddings in it look beautiful too!

Ali12 - Thanks for the tip! One less thing to worry about now. I really had no idea I needed to do either after reading these threads. Futureride - Last year my FI wanted to have a random all white party last summer. An all white reception sounds awesome! 4 days when you get back you should be nice & relaxed...ready to celebrate! LauraCL - My friend is getting married at Dreams in Punta Cana. They are kid friendly with reasonable rates. I have not been there but there are a ton of brides on here that are getting married there. It looks really nice too! There is also a thread for Dominican Republic that I am sure has great suggestions for Punta Cana! Happy planning & good luck!
