  1. We paid for our wedding party's attire, gave them gifts let them know 2 years in advance of our wedding. So the people that stood in our wedding didn't pay any extra than a regular guest would have. No one in our bridal party gave us a card or gift. Which I know they paid a great deal to travel but at least get us a card we went out of our way to buy attire, shoes, jewelry, monogrammed Champagne flutes, accessories that they can wear again and again not to mention their welcome bags filled with items Cups, flip flops, sunglasses, etc.... I have always paid for my own bridesmaid dresses and shoes outfits that I will never have a use for again (i.e. satin heels dyed purple with rhinestones) My girls had sundress with straw wedges. Our groomsmen we gave chucks. If I had to do it again I would only get the basic gifts that i was given for standing i.e. the monogrammed champagne flute. My effort definitely went unappreciated.

  3. maybe you can have cocktail hour outdoors and the rest of the reception indoors.
  4. You should go what you think is best its your wedding. my bridesmaids did wear the same colors as our groomsmen.
  5. I just had my AHR, and it was a logistical nightmare. We had 120 people say they were coming, then the day before I had emails and text from people saying they couldn't make it something came up. I had an uninvited cousin call the day before and ask to bring 10 people, didn't even offer a congratulations. We made our own centerpieces and purchased our own chair covers so I had to get people to set up the event. Then I had several people show up an hour early. I was stressed the whole first hour and half of the event. We had people that just plain forgot so maybe we had 80 people show-up luckily the hall only charge us for 100 people instead of the 120 people we booked. The people that came said they had a good time, it turned out beautiful but it was more stressful than my wedding. And in the end, I don't know if I would have done it the same again. I probably would have only invited 50 people and make it more intimate, but then again that was the purpose of the destination wedding should maybe I shouldnt have done one at all.
  6. We used HDC photo and had our pictures back before we left the dominican republic. It depends how much time in between your DW and AHR for what format to use. We used shutterfly for the cards there turnaround time was pretty quick
  7. I think that would look nice maybe the flower on the boutonniere can be cream colored. Our colors were pink and orange the groomsmen wore orange ties and the groom had a pink tie. Our groomsmen didn't have boutonnieres
  8. The resort provided the parasols but Oriental trading company has similar parasols for $14 a piece. We used parasols instead of bouquets for the bridesmaids saved us a ton of money plus they make great photo props.
  9. We did canvas bags from Old Navy that were our wedding colors, they were a $1, well worth it all of our guests used the bags on the beach and on excursions. we did not put our monogram on the bag, but the name tag we used had our monogram on it. Because most people won't reuse a bag with our names on it.
  10. Our AHR was 6 weeks after our DW. But we had all our pictures in less than a week from the photographer (we used HDC). We gave our 4X6 photos from the DW to everyone as favors
