La Barcaza - Opinion
Mufin1785 replied to AndreaCleveland's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
Did they still have the iPod docking station for your playlist?? I saw that now they have plastic chairs. So I was wondering if anything else has changed -
I wanted to share with all my Punta Cana Brides that you can get free brochures from the Dominican Republic tourism Board, check out their website http://www.godominicanrepublic.com/rd/?lang=en&idioma=1 for the types of brochures available. Simply email [email protected] the type and number of brochures you need for your OOT bags and they will mail to your address.

ID Holders: Yay or nay?
Mufin1785 replied to Missy Vesecky's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I am definitely putting them in the OOT bags. I did a combination of key coils and lanyards, because I also thought that some people my find lanyards dorky. the key coils are $3 for a dozen at Oriental trading and the lanyards are 6.50 for a dozen. -

OOT Bags by Room or by Guest?
Mufin1785 replied to Cherina's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
We are doing our bags by room, but each bag will be customized for the people they have in the room. Our bags are pink and orange beach bags so we figured the guys would not want a pink bag any way. If there are multiple girls in the room i will include an extra bag inside the bag. but each bag will only include one survival kit ( with meds). it is too expensive to make a kit for each person. -

Tanning?
Mufin1785 replied to MeghanAnn's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Anyone buying a tanning lotion online?? Not sure where to buy a good one. -
I started planning right away we had a 2 year engagement. I picked resort 20 months and sent out save the dates at that time to only close friends and family. At 11 months out I sent out save the dates to Everyone. I purchased a dress one year in advance. Starting looking for deals on OOT bags right away. The more time to you have the more likely you are to save money. Good Luck!!

I signed up for and American Airlines Card and they gave me 30,000 miles just for signing up. Earn 1 mile for every dollar spent plus certain retailers and restaurant give you anywhere from 2 -15 per dollar spent. Taget.com gives you 2 miles and I purchased my Bridesmaid dresses from ther!! No blackout dates. You also get priority boarding for being a card holder.

Any suggestions for chead food ideas for 100 people?
Mufin1785 replied to himalayan135's topic in At Home Reception (AHR)
Some people are doing a taco bar. Should be cheap tortillas, ground beef shredded cheese lettuce, salsa, Sour cream. Easy to set-up and fun for your guests! Rice and Beans as side items. Chips with Salsa, queso and guacamole. -
Bubbles, rose petals, confetti?
Mufin1785 replied to LandonO's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site
Oriental Trading Company 1 dozen for $10.50 look for free shipping coupon codes. I originally was in the same boat as you I had no idea who was coming. I estimated 40 and it looks like there will only be 28. So after my wedding I will be having a post wedding sale. We still have 31/2 months to go so the number might go up..... -

Mufin1785 replied to khunt29's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
For my Bridesmaids I paid for their dresses $55 Their shoes $20 and jewelry $20 I also purchased them personalized Champagne Flutes $8. $103 I spent in total on each bridesmaid. I am also including something extra in their OOT bag, I am still undecided on the item. I am asking that they pay for their hair and make-up at the resort that will cost them $115 -
2013 At Home Receptions (AHR's)
Mufin1785 replied to EVKnowsitall's topic in At Home Reception (AHR)
We are having an At Home Reception, it will be a brunch noon 3o'clock when we return from the Dominican Republic, below are my answers and thought on your dilemma 1) Is it tacky to just have a wine and beer option (which is significantly cheaper) as opposed to an open bar? No it is not Tacky, I am having beer, wine and champagne only. We are actually using the Bridal shower package the venue has for the AHR saves a ton of money 2) What do ladies think about holding an AHR on a non-traditional day (Sunday as opposed to Saturday) there are no rules for the day and time our AHR is on a Saturday but during the day 3) Do you think guests expect the same thing at an AHR that they expect at a full blown wedding reception? How do you clarify to people that it is not the same as a full blown wedding- but maybe close to it in terms of dress etc.? Our invitations did not say At home Wedding reception it said Champagne Brunch to Welcome Home the Newlyweds I think this sets the tone that it will not be a typical reception. I am wearing my dress! We will have wedding cake and a photographer. Ipod DJ. We will first dance and father daughter dance. 4) Are any 2013 brides planning to have an AHR that includes a ceremony? No having a ceremony at the AHR I didn't want to take away from the significance our our destination wedding Which would really mean you're having two weddings (if you want to get technical)... I think that's pushing it but many venues include the ceremony space free of charge on-site. Would you use it if it were included? We are showing a video of our ceremony at the AHR. 3 months before our destination wedding we are sending out wedding invitations (no travel information included) with AHR inserts so, so everyone invited to AHR is also invited to the wedding, so we do not offend anyone. The Save the Dates with travel information went out only to people we truly wanted at the wedding. DW and AHR have no rules you get to be creative!! Do whatever makes you happy. -
