Why are you only paying for 20 people if you have 50? Is it included in your wedding package? Do you know what the options are for an informal reception? Ariadna just sent me pics of the locations, but I don't know if they are formal or informal locations. I will have to ask her.

To those with a large group of 30 or more traveling: where are you having your reception? what extra expenses are there? like, do you have to pay for each person who attends?

Hey girls, I have a dilemma: My sister who previously told me (in so many words) that she wouldn't be able to make it to my wedding has just dropped a bomb on me today. She told me that now she was thinking about coming with her 3 kids. She asked if they would be allowed at the resort and of course i told her no because it is adults only. So now she is considering going depending on her finances which i will not get a definite answer until the summer. She says it all depends on if she gets hours to work in the summer because it is usually slow at the hospital where she works and they cut hours. So now I feel bad (which i shouldn't because i explained my situation to her before i booked this resort. I told her that i wanted to make sure she was coming or not because if she was then i would have to find someplace else. She told me that I should just pick the place i want to get married at because she wasn't sure if she could afford it.) Now she is making it seem like it is more of a possibility (still not definite) and I would feel bad if in the future she finds that she is able to afford it and then she wouldn't be able to go (because of course she doesn't want to leave her kids at home or go by herself) because it is an all - inclusive resort. I've already talked to Ariadna: no exceptions for kids on the wedding day, no beach reception because it is turtle season in November and no off-site wedding locations. So I am trying to see if I can find another resort/place that I can hold a wedding......or should i just tell my sister that I already have made my decision to have it at the Valentin and not worry about stressing myself trying to find another place. I would hate to do that because I would love more than anything for her to be there. HELP!!

Hi! I've been on this forum for about a month and it has been a huge life saver!! Anyway I wanted to introduce myself! My name is Melinda and my fiance and I are getting married at the Valentin Imperial on 11-11-11. We haven't booked the rooms yet, but the wedding date is locked down! We are hoping to have around 30 people, but the more people I talk to, the more seem to be interested in coming! The more the merrier, right!? I still have a ton of decisions to make. I am going dress shopping for the 2nd time at David's Bridal on sunday, so wish me luck! I hope to meet more of you and swap ideas Good luck ladies!

I too am getting annoyed of the inconsistency from wedding to wedding, although I am happy for those who don't have to pay the high vendor fee. It's just that it is an outrageous price regardless. Well she told me that "that is cost" so i asked her about the day pass. That's awesome that you don't have to pay as much. hopefully she will do the same for me! Yes print those emails! She hasn't responded back yet so im keeping my fingers crossed

I have seen some pics on previous posts so that has helped! this website is such a lifesaver! on another note, i just booked Gonzalo Nunez as my photographer. Although the outside vendor fee is ridiculous! Was anyone able to get that waived? Also thanks to NikkiT for the cake and flowers catalogue, the options seem kinda plain tho! I will have to find a picture of something i like since they said they can pretty much do whatever we ask for. Do they also have a catalogue for centerpieces? I tried on a couple wedding dresses today for the first time. Found some that were absolutely beautiful! Are you girls going with a full gown?

JBean: i'm sorry you couldn't get that date! i was worried too that we weren't going to get it. Hopefully you can get the second date you want! Does anyone know if you have to pay to have a reception in one of the restaurants? it seems silly to me to pay for food that you have already paid for with the all inclusive packages!

Hi Ladies! Congrats to all of you and good luck with all of your planning! I am so happy that i found this website, because you all have great advice and we can help each other out! I am getting married at the Valentin on 11-11-11!! I am so excited! I have literally just booked the date, so I have a ton of work ahead of me. Save the dates are my next priority. I definitely want to give enough time in advance for my guests so I want to send them out by the end of this month/beginning of Feb. On another note, I am not sure if i want to book a dj either. How did the ipod speakers work out for you guys? was it entertaining enough? how was the disco afterwards? I haven't picked my wedding package yet. Do any of you have pictures of the reception places/options? Do you think it would be a good idea to bring centerpieces? Thank you and happy planning!!
