  1. I am definitely going to make a run to the dollar store! Thanks for the ideas!
  2. So far the negotiations with me are slim to none, and I agree about some of the things the packages include. I think cutting the cocktail hour is fine! I mean, if you want it, then do it, but i don't think it's necessary. Everyone can go to the same bar, it would practically be the same thing.
  3. JBean: That is great!! we will have to meet for a quick hello sometime while we are down there! because I'm sure we will both be busy bees!! As far as wedding package, I am a little confused. I qualify for the complimentary package, but I also was looking into "unforgettable" package that includes dinner for 25 people. I guess there really was not point in trying to qualify for the "complimentary" package if it doesn't include what I need. I love your centerpieces idea. That's a great way to cut costs! How many people are coming down for your wedding?
  4. I would love to use your glass vases and orchids. Floating candles too, but those i'm not too worried about. What type of vases are they? Thanks!!
  5. futurMrsQuigley: I have approx. 35 people. We have decided to not have an AHR since the wedding in Mexico is going to cost more than we expected, so we want it to be semi-private so it has the "feel" of a reception. I hired Gonzalo Nunez to do my photography because I heard mixed reviews about Blue Lens, and I would be so upset if I didn't love my pictures. He is pretty reasonable, unfortunately I didn't know until after I hired him that I had to pay $300 to bring him into the Valentin! I am definitely trying to stay positive, and I am really glad I have this site to look to for help saving money
  6. My date is 11-11-11. I have decided to do a nonprivate dinner. I hope that goes well and that we can all get into the same restaurant at the same time. Are you doing a private reception? I also am going to do a private "after-party" but the price of the open bar is ridiculous! so frustrating!
  7. Bondgirl0072010: what DJ did you use? I am getting married 11/11/11 at the Valentin Imperial Maya. They are charging a ridiculous amount for their DJ!!! I am also considering using an IPOD as well.
  8. Is anyone else getting overwhelmed with all the additional costs? -pay per plate -open bar costs - dj -centerpieces, etc! I honestly don't know what to do. I am trying to save money here! I feel like i should have just planned a wedding at home!
  9. great job! thanks for sharing! what is the total cost for each bag?
  10. aww man!! sorry, here you go! Groom: http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q60/Minnie1102/angeloattire.jpg Groomsmen options: http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q60/Minnie1102/groom2.jpg http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q60/Minnie1102/groom1.jpg Tell me what you think. I'm not sure what kind of tie to go with also!
  11. yes. at a hall in early December...maybe the 2nd. it's going to be hors d'oeuvres (sp?) and open bar. I am not sure how I am going to word it in the invitation. "Come join us with dancing and drinks as we celebrate our marriage" and put a note that there will be appetizers served. I am not sure yet lol I feel like I'm so behind with everything :/
  12. Thank you! I feel so much better about our decision to go there!! I will have to try that burger
  13. awesome!! how is planning coming along?
  14. Thank you!!! good luck to all you ladies! It is all moving so fast now! I have my dress, bridesmaid dresses, groom attire, groomsmen attire, photographer.....now i'm going to start focusing on my bridal shower! Are any of you doing an AHR??
  15. Hello everyone! I just wanted to get your input on my choices for my groom and groomsmen attire!! For the groom, i am not sure whether i should choose the light khaki he is wearing or a white suit. For the groomsmen I am undecided about the ties! please let me know what you think! Share what your guys are wearing! ps. they will have their sleeves rolled up like the last picture and the bridesmaids dresses are alternating hot pink and orange! http://mail.aol.com/33867-111/aol-6/en-us/mail/get-attachment.aspx?uid=28738820&folder=Inbox&partId=3 http://mail.aol.com/33867-111/aol-6/en-us/mail/get-attachment.aspx?uid=28738823&folder=Inbox&partId=3 http://mail.aol.com/33867-111/aol-6/en-us/mail/get-attachment.aspx?uid=28738825&folder=Inbox&partId=3
  16. Thanks for the awesome review! I too have been planning blind. It makes me nervous and I am probably more stressed than I should be! Please post more pictures if you can! Thanks again!
  17. I was considering doing the same, since we are trying to keep the costs down. I just don't know how easy that would work with 40 people. I can't believe they charge so much since we are already paying to eat there. I can't help but feel taken advantage of!! Can't wait to hear all about your wedding!
