What about bug season does anyone know how September is for mosquitos?

Wedding Sept 2011: We have booked the Riu Palace steakhouse for a private reception dinner. $1800. for the entire restaurant. We were told that only wine, pop, water and coffee is provided for drinks. We have decided not to pay for an open bar at $15. per guest; as we were told there is a bar just at the top of the stairs from the restaurant where the guests may go if they want beer or a rum and coke. Now I am looking to find anyone who has a picture of the restaurant. (I can only find pictures of the terrace) I would like to see something so that we are able to plan the seating arrangments. There will be aprox. 56 guests and we would like to set up something rather than the U shaped long table set up that I have seen so far. Does anyone have any picture they are willing to share? Also we are considering using Cedric for our DJ, sound system and lighting...has anyone done this and have any insight. I have been all over this forum and I have not been able to find anything inside of the steakhouse restaurant I appreciate any and all help anyone is able to share

the photos are awesome and very helpful. I am glad we picked the San Jose gazebo. Does anyone have a picture of the Steakhouse Restaurant...we are renting the entire restaurant for Sept 2011 and I can only find pictures of the terrace. HELP...anyone please!

The Riu Palace has told us that the DJ for the resort is Cedric Kaelin...has anyone heard of him?

the resort told me I was told the steak house restaurant was for private the steak house terrace is for semi private Linens are white except napkins (there is a list to pick a color for those) no dancing except at the disco when it is semi private

I recently found out that the steak house is considered to be an open air restaurant. Meaning no walls for a wind break. semi private that are included in pkgs are on the terrace at the Mexican and San Jose restaurant. The steak house can only be booked for private. NOTE: check carefully regarding extras...there are many hidden extras for example if you want something besides pop and wine you will need to pay for an open bar which does not include blended drinks. you can get a hook up for IPod but you will need to rent the speakers by the hour. table cloths are white - color choice is only the napkins. there are certain flowers that you can pick colors - if they are in season all of this you make arrangements with your consultant at the resort

I am also from Canada and a warm sunny place right now is very exciting to look forward to...especially for a wedding Do you mind if I ask where you went to have your birth certificate translated and apostilled? We did the same...booked the hotel for group rate and then everyone will book their own flights. Also because they did not have dates for both to coincide with our wedding date. we were able to get a wedding discount through west jet though for the flights...they gave us a promo code and our guests just call them ...tell them the code and get a discount. We booked the San Jose gazebo. Is Suzanne doing your hair and makeup...are you being charged extra for the makeup?

Ours is Sept 21, 2011. @ 4pm. we also would like the steak house semi private but are trying to figure out the menu. Have they shared with you the options of food for the steak house? I am confused they tell me the semi private dinner is included but then send me a menu with prices.

We are having a legal wedding there. Just didn't realize that they would need us to have our B cert. translated into Spanish before we get there. But I guess it does make sense now that I think more about it. Have either of you decided on your location for the ceremony or dinner?

Hi, Where are people getting this wedding check list from? The wedding planner.. do they just send one or should I request it? Seems some of the brides here are more ahead of the game then others and I for one feel so behind...I so appreciate the tips your willing to share

Hello, Boy am I glad I finally found a site with brides getting married at the Riu Palace. I too feel like I am eavesdropping however it has been very helpful. Congratulations to you all. Our wedding is September 21, 2011 @ 4pm. We are planning on getting married in the gazebo and did not know there were two of them. Does anyone have a link to pics of the two choices...or did I miss that in the previous pages. My wedding contact at the Riu is Mina. As far as organizing the wedding we have not gotten further than date, time, caprice wedding pkg and Legal wedding. OMG so much to think of and I am sure so much to miss doing. I am so stressed right now I don't even know where to go from here. Do any of you have any suggestions? LOL besides the "Stop, Breath...focus" I keep getting from family.
