Hi...it's me with a little update Ok, so we are booked for both seatings at Don Julio terrace The beach will be set up with wood floor for dancing. (beach is one step down from the terrace) We are having Cedric for our DJ and he will also be setting up lights for us. We have refocused our plans and have grown to like the idea of this location...we believe it will be very romantic...lights through the trees, beach and ocean right there for our back drop... Dinner will be menu 1 from the steakhouse (included in the price not per plate) We arrive on Sept 15 and have a meeting at 9:30 the next morning with our WC to go over everthing including a walk about to the ceremony and reception locations. We're hoping at this point we will be able to decide whether an open bar will be needed and make those arrangements then. Flowers are decided on Cake is decided on (if you haven't heard...you should recheck with your WC as the wedding cake choices have been drastically reduced) WC has our translated documents and has confirmed all are good. Our translator contacted the WC to confirm what was needed. There has been a lot of questions regarding having the documents apostilled. Apparently apostille and Canada's Notary publics water mark is the same. The translator handled all the requirements needed. (Hellen at ETSTRANSLATIONS) 19 days til we are there...still breathing

mandM2011, ...and I thought we were having problems with the Riu Palace. That is just crazy. At the Riu we have until 11:00 and then guests who wish to party longer may move over to the disco which starts at 11pm...do you have that option at least? Congrats on your wedding BTW Crys

hey Michelle, Yes I have seen that video, it is of the Mexican terrace. I have asked about getting blended drinks and the answer I got was "quite frankly I have never had guests leave for different drinks. Everyone was satisfied with beer and wine" Bathroom is by the steakhouse...I just think we need to go up to the top level to get to it. next to the bar...LOL I am at the point of...they got our money...nothing I can do but just go and go with the flow and make the best of it. How sad is that...it's our wedding and we have to make do or pay through the nose. But what is funny is that when we were willing to pay through the nose it came down to number of guests and couldn't have what we wanted. Then when I ask "Are you serious?" Regarding the price they want for as little as they are giving, the answer I get back is "well you were going to pay this much before for the other". They just don't get it and customer service is not in their vocabulary. Sorry now I am sounding bitter. ...Breathing and trying to not stress ~

I have marked on the map where I believe Don Julio terrace is. Keep in mind it is below the steakhouse on the bottom level. Without ever being there it is hard to tell if it is an easy or difficult path to the bathrooms and bar.

Kary, The closer it gets the more stress when not everthing is confirmed with the WC both seatings $1000.00...they said we could still have the "menu 1" choice that we liked from the steakhouse beach another $500.00...which seems kind of crazy but I guess they set up a wood dance floor but only 4 spot lights for lighting We have booked a DJ through the resort...another 500.00 Trying to figure out how far the closest bar is so we don't have to pay for an open bar...Does anyone know where it is from Don Julio terrace?

we were going to have the entire restaurant but dropped 2 guest below the number we booked with so are forced to now choose a different location. We are now having the Don Julio Terrace; which I believe is the bottom deck of the steakhouse (both seatings) and the beach for dancing. We were told the beach is one step down from the terrace. Have no idea how it will be set up...the terrace doesn't look like there's much room (which is why we are including the beach for dancing)

Michelle (Michey) RE: we need to all organize together and complain... This sounds like a good idea but with some draw backs...how does one do it without making things worse? RE: the email from the WC I think this is a template email being tweeked by the WC to suit the wedding numbers 'cause it looks just like mine. Has anyone been to the resort and know what Don Julio terrace is like. The pics sent to me look like it is just a deck on the back of a building under the steakhouse. WC tells me it is one step onto the beach. where are the bathrooms and the nearest bar for guests to get to? RE: Your comment about the wedding being unique... This is a very good point...and actually does make me feel better. You are absolutely correct. I will keep reminding myself of this. Thank you

Tried calling actually twice today...she is busy with other clients. Nope same WC...it is new resort mgmt. mom is not having fun...she is stressing I think more than me 'cause she wants to be done with the planning. Mom wants everything to be as close as perfect as possible for us.

Hi Michelle, So since last we talked this is what has happened. Had the steakhouse booked private for 50 guests...Now a new manager has come to the resort and we were told new mgr = new rules. They will honor the 50 unless it drops. our guest list dropped from 50 to 48 so they said we now have to pick a different restaurant. We are thinking the Don Julio terrace since it holds up to 70 with a dance floor...well now told actually holds 50 with dance floor if you move your tables they will set up the beach for a dance floor for an extra $500...but no lights WC has not emailed back in a week and we are a month away and nothing is confirmed...can I STRESS now

Got my own answer the resort said not a problem but now I may have changed my mind I'm allowed I'm the bride

Does anyone know if the resorts (specifically the RIU Palace in Cabo) allow guest to blow bubbles at the ceremony or reception Don't know if they will have an issue with the soap from the bubbles getting on the beach or terrace of the restaurant Thanks ~Crys

Hi, We would like to do the sand ceremony for our wedding September 2011 Has anyone done this...mainly how do you transport the container home without disturbing the sand too much from the beautiful design you made together? Any insight would be really appreciated

Hi Michey, We are having our ceremony at the San Jose Gazebo (FYI there are two to choose from...1 by the spa and the San Jose Gazebo by the Italian restaurant which I am told is more private) Depends on how large your group will be for reception area. Terrace is for semi private with a time limit of 1.5 - 2 hrs where as private is inside a restaurant from 6:30 - 11 pm. We have booked a DJ to look after the music for us...if you bring an Ipod someone will need to look after it for you all night and you still have to rent the speakers which works out to the same cost as the DJ...so you might as well have a DJ do it.

Michelle, A spring wedding NICE Baja Norte wow...did you get pics for it? Can they do a dance floor...I heard that you need to book a open bar for that...did they tell you the same? I wonder does the cost work out to be $$$ mucho much

Hi Jen, We were going to rent the disco but decided we did not want to be rushed from dinner into the disco...and we also heard that we had to be out of the disco around 11. Could not confirm if we could decorate the disco our way and possibly we would be interupted by the resort staff to set up for their disco for other resort guests to come in at 11. So that was part of the reason we decided to go with renting the whole restaurant 6:30 - 11 and having our own dance and DJ in the steakhouse. If guests want to continue after that they may join the resort disco at 11. The resort put me in touch with Cedric who has been awesome letting me know our options with setting up the steakhouse. He sent us pictures with different lighting options for the room and tables ~ very cool ideas. Would you like his email...or I could frwd you what he sent me?

well we have decided to book the entire steak house. we are now working with the DJ organizing music and light set up for decorations. We decided not to book the open bar as they want an extra 15.00 per person and that does not include blended drinks. After some research we found out that there already is a bar at the top of the stair case leading to the restaurant so guests will just pop up the stairs if they want something other than what the restaurant serves. Would like to confirm flowers but Kylene has been too busy to answer emails this month. Duh...what is AHR stand for? so are you at the Riu Palace...what dates?

Michelle, They told me that they are very busy this month dealing with June brides. They haven't been answering many emails this month. If I can answer any questions let me know... I have had many questions answered before June that may help you
