From the album: May 2013 Brides

I won't quote the photos again but I third option 2! How are you doing your numbers, cutting them out yourself or buying the numbers already cut?
-
Those are all great choices! One thing that helped us was sitting down and listening to all of the songs we were considering. As Time Goes By made us want to stand up and dance together, which we did! It was just a gut feeling. Hopefully one of those songs does that for you two.

Congrats, that's so exciting! Can't wait to see how your dream wedding turns out for you!

Your dress looks great o you! -
I'm so sorry that his family is acting like that! That's so upsetting, and makes no sense. Well at least you have your family and all your friends there to support you. It's a shame that his family is missing out on all the happiness and celebrations. It seems like it's best that way though, so that you won't have anyone bringing you down on your day. I have to keep reminding myself that I'm not a travel agent trying to plan the perfect vacation for 75 different people, and that everyone are adults and know how to keep themselves entertained!

I'm pretty sure Discountmugs.com ships totes to Canada! They have a huge selection. You could even to a large order (the more you order, the cheaper they are) and split it with another Canadian bride. Nice work on getting everything else checked off! Sorry I don't have any tips for lip balm. I know a lot of ladies have mention Avon on here before though.

Thanks for the compliment on the logo, I'll pass it along! Our friend is a graphic designer and he hand drew it for us for free. Do you know Herschel backpacks? He designed their logo too. He's very talented! The tote bags are actually the only thing I haven't seen in person yet since they were shipped to my Dad's place. I'll ask him to have a look at them and let you know what he says. We went with cotton and didn't get the cheapest ones, so hopefully they will hold up. Here's what our costs ended up being, including set up fees for the logo and shipping. Actually I think shipping was free for some stuff and set up was free for the coozies. They always have great deals and coupon codes on that site! Bags - 60 @ $3.60 each Cooler bags (no logo) - 50 @ $3.70 each Thermal mugs 16oz - 80 @ $3.75 each Coozies - 100 @ $1.10 each (We wanted extras to keep around the house!) The total for everything ended up being just over $800. I'm going to pick up some advil, pepto, tums, bandaids and aloe from Dollarama on my upcoming trip to Vancouver, and then will add gum and snack that I will get at Sam's Club down here in Mexico. Everything else like bug spray and sunscreen I will just tell people to pack lots for themselves but I will have extra in my room for people to borrow if they need. I'll also have a full first aid kid in our room for emergencies. I hope to only spend another $400 at the most on all that, which would make the total for 75 bags $1200. That'll work out to $16 a bag, not bad!

For the ceremony I like songs without lyrics but that are still filled with emotion. Bands like Explosions in the Sky and Sigur Ros are great for that! We also really like the soundtrack from Beast of the Southern Wild, although some of the songs are a little too epic. Once I have a more complete list of songs for the dinner and reception I will post it here. We're going to play some oldies from the 50s and 60s, and then transition into some bangers from the 80s and some more current songs. For the current songs we're not exactly top 40 people, but more folk, indie and rock. We're going to try and keep the party going but throw in a mellow song every once in while so people can go grab a drink and a shot!

I don't know what the etiquette is, or if there even is one. It depends on your Dad I guess. Would it be really important to him to choose the song himself, or would he just want you to do whatever you want to do? Or would he want to choose one with you? In my opinion wedding etiquette in general takes a backseat to whatever makes you and your fiance happy. Hopefully as long as the two of you are happy, your family and friends will be happy too. Who cares what other people have done in the past or what Miss Manners says? This is the celebration the love you two share for each other and it should be whatever you want it to be! We're also having my FI dance with his Mom while I dance with my Dad. We'll transition to those dances right after our first dance as husband and wife.

Yes, I will for sure, I promise! Not only for the May 2013 brides but for all the girls who are newly engaged, and the ones who don't even know he's going to pop the question yet! I find myself back on threads from 2008 or 2009 sometimes that are still relevant and very helpful. I can't wait to see all of your pictures!

I love those programs! We use one called Rdio that is very similar. It's been great to browse and find new music, both for the wedding and for our daily lives as well. Once we have our playlists and song selections set we'll download the songs we don't have yet to load onto the iPod. It's just a matter of finding time to sit down and do it!

I ordered mine from Discountmugs.com. Great customer service, lots of choices, and you can get them plain or with your custom logo, depending on your preference and budget. We also ordered 16 oz thermal mugs, beer coozies and collapsable cooler bags from them. I ordered my stuff to my Dad's place in the states but I know they ship to Canada as well. http://www.discountmugs.com/nc/list-products/tote-bags/

Here's a fun question! What's everyone doing for their first dance song and father/daughter & mother/son dances? We've decided on As Time Goes By by Dooley Wilson, the song from Casablanca which is one of our favourite movies. For the dance with our parents we'll use a Van Morrison song since we both grew up listening to him and have great memories of listening to his songs. We also saw him in concert for our one year anniversary at the Gorge in Washington which was amazing! Not sure what song yet, we're still deciding between a few. We're still working on the rest of the songs too - what to play while everyone gets seated, the walk down the aisle song, ceremony music, dinner music and party time music. We're using our iPod so we're doing the music from the 5pm ceremony until 1am. We have a partial list put together but we need to sit down with a bottle of wine soon and sort out the rest. We have a mariachi for the cocktail hour so that's covered!

show us your rings!
MrsHK replied to NABUMBAH's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Wow, we really do have similar taste, don't we! So do our men apparently haha! Great minds Mikee is all about wood and the colour brown. If everything in his life was brown leather and wood, his life would be complete. -

Here's our rings! We don't actually have our wedding bands yet but I took a photo of mine with my engagement ring in the store. It is a full eternity band. Sorry for the blurry iPhone photo! We ordered his online and it should be arriving within the next few week. The Etsy seller, Naturalezanica, is from Nicaragua and now lives in Kentucky. He goes back to Nicaragua and collects guapinol wood that has fallen to the jungle floor and uses it to make his rings. He also uses recycled sterling silver. Here's his store: http://www.etsy.com/shop/naturalezanica?ref=seller_info -

I'm feeling the same way! So many things to do, and the days keep ticking by. I'm also heading home to Vancouver for 3 weeks next week, so by the time I'm home I'll have just over a month to get all the little DIY things done. I'm picking up a bunch of stuff for the wedding in Vancouver (including my dress!) but I'll also have to make time for family and friends, plus keep up with working online during the weekdays. I'm going to try and sit down with a calendar and schedule out each task. Seeing everything laid out in manageable bites will help ease the anxiety. We will all get everything done in time! Make sure to ask your friends and family to help, that's what they are there for! A friend of mine was stressed about all her little things and she has some girls come over a couple of nights in a row with helping hands and it was all done.

This is the guy I'm using to rent 2 speakers and a microphone. Eduardo - [email protected] Website: http://www.jsavmexico.com/ The rental comes with delivery, set-up take down and an English speaking tech to help run the equipment. He could be there alongside your DJ to give him a hand with set-up. I haven't found any reviews for the company (although I haven't looked that hard) but they have been very fast to respond and their website looks great. He quoted me $550 for the whole thing. $350 for rental, $200 for round trip delivery. I'll probably tip the tech as well about $100 since he'll be there from 4pm to 1am and will be moving the equipment once. Rental includes: JBL System A w WL mic Audio-Mixer- 4-Mic/Line-Input Mackie 1202-VLZ Per package: 1 Total: 1 CD Player-single Tascam CD-160 Per package: 1 Total: 1 Microphone-UHF-Combo Shure ULXP4 Per package: 1 Total: 1 Speaker Full Range Selfpowered JBL EON 15P-1 Per package: 2 Total: 2 Cable 3.5mm Stereo to 2x 1/4 Plug Mono for an Ipod The price is much better than the $800 +$120 tip our WC had quoted us for her recommended vendor. I'm finding that seeking things out on my own is working our better than just agreeing to everything I'm quoted from the WC. Her and her assistant are great and have found us some good deals on some things. I'm sure they will be amazing on the day of and am very happy we hired them, but I think I will continue to do my own research for pricing of some things. It is time consuming and hard work, but has save me lots of $$$ so far!

We ordered ours from DiscountMugs.com. We didn't order the cheapest ones, but there are lots of options and price ranges on their site. The more you order, the cheaper they get. You can also do one bag per couple which would cut the number of bags needed down. Ours ended up being about $3 each, including the screen print of our logo onto them. The set-up fee was $50 and the shipping was free. We also ordered personalized tumbler cups, coozies and collapsable cooler bags from these guys. http://www.discountmugs.com/nc/list-products/tote-bags/ They haven't arrived yet but this is the proof they sent us. We went with our wedding logo minus our names and wedding date so people can reuse the bag when they get home.
