I used the ipod dock for 4 hours with one speaker and it was $210. Our reception was from 6-10 as well as our ceremony was at 4 and our cocktail was at 5. Worked perfectly!

Are disco lights worth it? If so, what have you picked and why? I'm trying to work out my budgets and keep getting hit with unforeseen expenses!
Thanks so much

I booked through a TA but I know past 2012 brides that booked directly through the resort had issues with time (resort taking forever to return emails, phone calls etc) and they sometimes had issues with booking links for guests to use.

Thanks for the info- I figured ROH meant something like that!
I emailed my WC so we'll see what she says. Was Suzette your WC? I know she does Sun and Beach. She was mine (I got married at Sun but stayed at Moon).

ROH is Run of House i think it means whats available.
And yes no resort credit for the 3 free days, so if you went for a week (paid for 4 days) you would only get the credits you qualify for if staying 4 days

Thanks for the info- even though it's been 6 months I wonder if I could ask! We already booked our trip though and didn't book through Palace directly..so it may be a lost cause lol.
What is ROH room type? So that mean you do not get resort credit when you do this then, correct?

And how did you get the free "anniversary nights?" I don't recall that being in my package from 2012.

Hi Kristie!
We stayed in the Nizuc section for our wedding last year and we are returning for our anniversary and staying in the grand section- the rooms are bigger- the section is quieter and more modern. The only downside is there are no oceanview rooms in this section but we can just walk outside and see the ocean!!

I know this is a huge resort- I was wondering if anyone has suggestions of which part of the hotel to book our room in.
Is one area more modern? closer to beach, pool, restaurants etc? any advice is appreciated!
Thanks!

Yes the bridal party can cut off their wristbands..just make sure no one looses it- otherwise they have to pay like $50 for a new one. Everyone can just bring their cut wristband up to the front desk the next day and they will give you a new one. I never got a new one and no one said anything about me not having a wristband for 3 days lol.

If you qualify you will pick from buffet menus- there are about 10 different dinner menus and a seperate list of menus for the cocktail hour.

Hi Carolina. Send me a PM and I'll send you my instructions on how to make the starfish aisle decorations!

yay!!! Hope you are enjoying every moment of it and I hope it doesn't rain too much while you are there!!! Can't wait to see you as a beautiful bride!

I used Marvin in November- I paid $65 for each bridesmaid bouquet and $165 for my bouquet. His prices are not the cheapest but he does an amazing job and it's cheaper than getting them through the resort!

I had 40 people and 6 tables. We reserved 2 tables- for the wedding party and then we had our parents sit at a table next to us. It worked out fine!

Do you think I should just order the place cards and have them already placed at each seat?
Any advice would be great! Just wondering what past brides did as well...

We did the first look thing as well the day of the wedding- otherwise we wouldn't have gotten in our all pics before dark. I liked sharing that special moment just the two of us before the ceremony!
Since the dress was different for my TTD I was fine with it- it just felt like I was playing dress up! I wouldn't have wanted to take our TTD pictures in my real wedding dress the day before the wedding.

Thank you! I was very happy with how they turned out! We ended up having to do these the day before our wedding so that is why I had to buy a different dress..but people think that i just added the blue sash for these pictures and the dresses are the same so it worked out after a little help from my husband's grandma to alter the dress a bit!

Congrats!! You are going to have an amazing time!! When is your wedding? I will be there from Nov 25-30 with my husband for our 1 year anniversary!!! Can't wait!!!!!!

Lol good! You are quite welcome!
Nicole,
I rented the ipod for my entire reception! We had a friend act as MC and do all the announcing and made playlists for each thing (first dance, cake cutting, dance music, dinner music etc) so the ipod tech knew when to play what. It took me probably 4 hours to make the music but it was worth saving the $800 to me! It worked out great! Just make sure you tell the tech not to let anyone change the music!

Did you have a family member announce these things?
And setting up this music on my IPOD is stressing me out. Did you guys do one long playlist? Or separate playlists for cocktail hour, reception, etc...
I think I'm going to need someone a little more tech savvy to help me with this.

I'm not sure who you are talking to..but I was married in November so I'll put in my two sense lol.
The weather was perfect in November (we are going back the same week for our anniversary!)
It was high 70s low 80s during the day and then in the high 60s low 70s at night- bring a sweater cause when it's windy it can get chilly at night close to the beach!
The ocean was cold- but you can still manage to get almost waist deep and be fine!
My wedding was at 4pm as well. The sun will set around 5:15 (I think- there is a website you can check for sunset time- just goggle sunset time in november).
My schedule was:
First look photos (which I recommend for the limited time you have after the ceremony before the sun sets) at 2:15
2:30- 3:45 group photos (wedding party and bride and groom)
4- 5 ceremony, toast, family pics and more wedding pics- sunset pics
5-6 cocktail hour (more pics of my husband and I- we turned the wedding party loose around 5 when the cocktail hour started and we joined everyone around 5:30 and it was almost dark by 5:30)
6-10 reception
Let me know if you have any more questions about November in Mexico!

I will be there from November 25-30 for our 1 year anniversary trip!! Anyone getting married then and want 2 wedding crashers?!
-
Just wanted to bump this thread again!! Anyone thinking about or have booked their wedding at Sun Palace feel free to ask questions or PM me!! I know there is not a lot of Sun Palace bride information so I wanted to be able to help any new brides! I got married at Sun Palace on 11/23/2012 and it was amazing!!
We are returning to Moon Palace for our anniversary and will make a day trip to Sun Palace one of the days we are there!

They are located in the golf section which is very secluded and not near the Grand, Nizuc and Sunrise sections on the beach. They have to give you a golf cart cause it would be probably a 45 walk anywhere lol.
Check out a map of the resort- you should be able to get an idea of how secluded that area is!
We just booked our 1 year anniversary trip for this November in the grand section! We stayed in Nizuc for our wedding but wanted to try the Grand as it was quieter and nicer in my opinion!

I'm really just looking for more info about where the Junior Golf Suites are in the resort. Are they only in one section or are they scattered around?

I handed out most of them before we left since I supplied luggage tags for everyone (and I didn't want to have to pack 20 bags myself and bring an extra suitcase! Most of our guest were local but the others I brought with me (only 3 bags) and gave it to them when I saw them on the beach!

Yep we had a family friend be the MC. We did everything at once so he didn't really have to do much- wedding party entrance, into our first dance, into father daughter into mother son dance. Then I think we ate and then did toasts and cake. I didn't do the garter or bouquet toss. The WC will help coordinate and then you can give him a run down of the order and he'll be fine! It worked out great even though our MC may have been a little drunk cause he misprounced a couple of our friends names even though he's known them for years!! haha. oh well.
