You are welcome! haha- ya I wish there was private pool access! But I def don't remember seeing it and we were in the grand section a lot! (we stayed in the Nizuc section). Have you gotten your Purchase order yet? Once you sign that- relax- everything will work itself out when you get there- I know everyone says that but you really need to remember that- this is what these ladies do for a living and they are great at their job and everyone wants to please a BRIDE!

Hey Stef- I should be able to answer most of your questions: 1) I believe the salon/spa is the same contact. I could find my contact person I used- I think her name was Karla. The $300 is for anything spa related- hair, massages, mani pedi- if it's done at the salon/spa it counts towards your $300 max. I did not do a trial run- as long as you have a picture of EXACTLY what you want front and back- they will replicate the hair even BETTER than the picture! 2) there are no rooms that enter into a private pool at the Grand section of MP- he is def thinking of another resort. 3) I rented the ipod tech and speakers from PSAV for $200- they provided the speaker, a microphone and the tech. Totally worth it!! We just brought a laptop with clearly stated playlists and the tech played everything "dinner music", "first dance" etc. I would not rely on the internet connection- the wifi is hit or miss- esp miss the closer you get to the beach/ocean. 4) I belive the construction is almost done in the Sunrise side- but I am not certain- another bride said that the construction for Nizuc would begin in Oct- so maybe they are still working on the sunrise side- they were when I was there in Nov. Yes, Sunrise is the only section with hammocks- but the Grand side has a daybed/ lounger thing on the balcony. I'm not sure if the rooms were renovated or not either, sorry! If you have any other questions feel free to PM me! You are going to have an amazing time!!!! I want to go back!!!!

OOT Bags at Old Navy for $1!!!
shan0487 replied to SunsetLove's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
These were from last year- they apparently have new ones for $1.50 this year! -
You're welcome! And if you have more than 4 or 5 girls getting ready- she will probably set you up for the golf course as the golf course has 5 stylists and the Nizuc and Sunrise only have 2 or 3- we had 10 ladies getting their hair done so the golf course was the only option for me lol! And it's really nice and pretty and smells good!! And if you are doing a morning appt- they have breakfast in one of the restaurants so you can get food in between appointments- we actually "carried out" the food and brought it into the salon and ate haha.

I fly Frontier in November and they made room in an overhead compartment for my dress- my dress was not full or fluffy or anything so I had no issues. I used my dress as my carry-on along with my purse and a bag that I shoved my purse in in case they said something about me having 3 carry-on bags lol.

We were at the caribbean terrace while a reception was going on one night- it is not private- other patrons of the resort can still use the bar during your reception. They make sure no one enters your reception or goes into the section of the bar that "belongs to you" but that is it. The grand section isn't very busy typically so you shouldn't be "sharing the bar" with more than about 20 people. Hope this helps! Private Events MP Cocktail & Reception (Update 20.12.12) (2).pdf

You are welcome!! Yes- adding a color def gives it a nice "pop" that I think the decorations need! Esp if you have bright colors as your wedding colors like I did! Quote: Originally Posted by jrack These looks great! Thanks for the tip -

Ok ladies- here are my close-ups. I used 15 strands of raffia and used a folding chair to estimate the desired length. I had 3 colors so I made 5 strands of each color per decoration. You can see how I hot glued the cardstock to the back of the starfish for support. Also, the raffia curls much more than this, but again- mine was packed to and from Mexico- so they straighten out a little via travel. Let me know if you have any other questions! And they really aren't that hard to make- I think two of us made 6 of them in about an hour and a half and we were girl talking the whole time- so you know how that slows things down! -

You can also buy the starfish at Michael's or Hobby Lobby- but if you plan on making at few of the decorations it is cheaper to just buy them in bulk then to go to Michael's 6 or so different times to use a 40% coupon on each starfish. Just what I learned from shopping around! -

I bought the starfish on ebay- I had to buy a dozen- and I did the give your best offer option and I got them for $28! http://www.ebay.com/itm/12-Extra-Large-Sugar-Starfish-8-10-Beach-Cottage-/330803727109?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d05704b05 You want to make sure you buy this size. I only made 6 of the decorations but it was fine- I had extra starfish to decorate other things and a few of the starfish were "weird" looking so I didn't want to use them anyways! Just make sure when you pack them they are wrapped in bubble wrap and you will be fine- none of mine were broken but I made extras just in case!! I like your colors!! I would def do tan and then either magenta or navy depending on what colors your other decorations are. I actually had two different colors of yellow a pastel yellow and a bright yellow and then the tan raffia. They hold up just fine in the wind- no problems!! I will get pics tonight to post and then I will count how many strands I cut for each one! I purchases the raffia at Nashvillewraps.com. They make you order a minium- hence why I have so much raffia leftover- but they have every color imaginable that is why I ordered from them! -

I will take some pics tonight and get them posted tomorrow- if you don't see them- PM me to remind me- I am pretty scatter-brained these days! I'm done with the wedding planning but I'm operation Baby shower planning as my MOH got pregnant while we were in Mexico!!!! It was planned- no worries, haha! -
Hi and congrats!! I was married at Sun Palace but stayed at Moon Palace! You will love it! I was just informed that construction will begin in the Nizuc section (mainly renovations) starting oct/nov 2013- they probably will not be done by your wedding so I would avoid the Nizuc section. We stayed in the Nizuc section and loved it because it was centrally located in the middle! If you are having your wedding on the beach or in the Catholic gazebo your wedding will be in the Nizuc/ Grand section. There are terraces all over the resort for the reception. Personally I think with the construction you should request the grand side- it is at the end but it is newer and the rooms are bigger and it's more secluded- more jungly atmosphere. The Sunrise section is the "party area" and the Nizuc section is in the middle- not too crowded but like I mentioned before there will probably be some construction going on in the lobby and restaurants will be closed and some of the pool bars may be closed as well. If you book through a Travel agent you can request a section of the resort- we requested the Nizuc section. I do not know if you book directly through the resort if you can request a section or not. Feel free to private message me if you have any other Palace resort related questions! Shanna

Thanks! they are pretty easy to make- I just bought raffia and used a folding chair to get an idea of how long I wanted them to be- I cut 12-15 pieces of raffia for each one (can't remember exact number- but I can count them to make sure) folded it to make the loop and the tied a piece of ribbon to keep the loop. Then I put a cotton ball in the starfish (otherwise the inside is hollow) then I superglued a piece of heavy cardstock (cardboard would work too) to the cardstock and then attached another piece of ribbon over it and then hot glued the raffia to the starfish and volia! I can PM you pics of close-ups if you don't understand my instructions. The raffia curls naturally and was very curly and pretty until I had to pack them in my suitcase and then the flattened out on their journey to Mexico- but they still looked good! It's way cheaper to make these yourself than to buy them FYI! I have tons of leftover raffia that I can sell if you need yellow, orange or tan raffia! -
Congrats!! We stayed at Moon and my wedding was at Sun- it was amazing!! My advice to you is to get a Travel agent to deal with all the bookings and to make sure you get the group benefits for room nights- that is one of the greatest perks Palace resorts offer- the great wedding benefits when you have a group of people attending your wedding!! If you have any questions at all feel free to Private Message me and I'd be happy to help!
